This sounds like a problem with TF2 or your computer, not GCFScape. If you aren't sure you can run TF2, I recommend going to this website: systemrequirementslab(.)com/cyri/, and selecting TF2 from the drop-down list. It'll run a diagnostic test for you and tell you if your computer can run the game.
I don't think there are sounds in other languages. There might be sound mods out there that replace the English lines but I don't think there are any official in-game voice overs in other languages.
@jmtct wut? D: The Spanish, French, Russian and German dubs are official... and I know people who have download the spanish quotes D: Like /watch?v=Moq3A_YguvY , for exemple...
Well, thank u so much for the tutorial ^^ I'll look for the spanish ones anyway!
If they had to download them, they didn't use GCFScape. GCFScape just extracts sounds from the game to be used in other projects. If anything, it may require a special installation when you first download the game. I remember installing Dead Island in Russian for fun once, so it's possible you could do that with TF2.
For some reason, the weapons are in a different directory. You need to go to "steamapps/team fortress 2 materials", not "steamapps/team fortress 2 content". From there it's "root/tf/sound/weapons".
For some reason, the weapons are in a different directory. You need to go to "steamapps/team fortress 2 materials", not "steamapps/team fortress 2 content". From there it's "root/tf/sound/weapons".
Yes but the people who owned it allowed it to be in the game. You can tell if it's in the game if you ever hear it in the title screen. Magnum Force's theme never plays.
Just a note on TF2 music: Most of the music is in the "tf / sounds / ui" folder. Look at the size of the music files. Anything bigger then 1MB go's for about 1min 30 seconds.
Yeah, strangely enough no one seems to ask about the music, but a lot of people seem to be missing the weapons sounds folder. You got any input there?
@jmtct open GCFScape, go back to the steamapps folder. Open the 'team fortress 2 materials game cache file'. Go through the 'root / tf / sound / weapons' folder. In general, just take a look around. GCFScape apparently can open most game cache file types and display all the files inside. You onyl need to search for them.
Not a lot of people seem to be having this problem, you're the only one who brought this up on the comments section. It still works perfectly for me and most of the commenters here, who usually post every little problem and non-problem they have.
I'm having no problems, but I do use VLC Player to play the files. As far as I can tell, there are no problems with GCFScape or the TF2 content files. You might want to try downloading a newer version of GCFScape.
Without using GCFScape, go to C/programfiles/steam/steamapps/username/teamfortress2/tf and place custom sounds in their respective folders. Give them the name of the sound you want them to replace .
Eg, to replace The Engineer's first critical death scream, name the custom sound "engineerpaincriticaldeath01" and put it in the "vo" folder. If the folder you want to put the replacement in doesn't exist, create it.
Getting models from Tf2 is entirely different from getting sounds. The models are in tf/models/player, but those aren't the models you want. That file contains the textures and the details on how those textures should be represented. If you want the models themselves, you'll need a different program.
halp when ever i try to use sounds in game even though i opened vo file in gcfscape it allows me to extract them to the documents folder i use for hldj and sadly it won't let me validate wav. files from gcfscape it just says error no mp3 files found. and so if i put them in my output directory i get slow sloth blurr sounds when i play them in game :( plz halp me

That problem stems from the version of GCFScape you're running. Just download a more recent or maybe older version of the program and it should work.

123Makeleleotravez 7 months ago
Without using GCFScape, go to C/programfiles/steam/steamapps/username/teamfortress2/tf and place custom sounds in their respective folders. Give them the name of the sound you want them to replace .
Eg, to replace The Engineer's first critical death scream, name the custom sound "engineerpaincriticaldeath01" and put it in the "vo" folder. If the folder you want to put the replacement in doesn't exist, create it.
