On the other hand, Operation Wolf and Bad Dudes for the Amiga were great conversions, but back then you had to compare it to the old NES ports which wouldn't be fair. The best games on the Amiga were usually specifically made to take advantage of that system such as Shadow of the Beast or Blood Money among others. As for Cannon Fodder, the best version ever was a console port for the Atari Jaguar.
That's not necessarily true, the majority of smash hit arcade ports on the Amiga were worst than the 16 bit consoles at the time. Golden Axe, Strider, Final Fight and Street Fighter II are a few examples.
Didn't even know those ones hit the AMIGA. But I did spend a hell of a lot of time beating them in the arcade so I didn't really need to play them at home, 'cause I was on them alot XD
Both the Genesis and TG versions pushed the limitations of each machine trying to replicate the arcade experience. Although the Amiga was a very powerful machine, there were some very disappointing arcade ports as well, considering what it could do in terms of graphics & sounds.
I know, I had some of the awful AMIGA ports, but for the most part, AMIGA version blew console ports away. Things like Desert Strike, SWOS, Zany Golf, Pinball Dreams, Toki & Cannon Fodder played meh on the consoles.
As well as the above.
I'm lucky enough to have an older brother who's a gamer so I got to play a lot of consoles before my time such as the AMIGA and the Speccy and the Oric Atmos. And the AMIGA is still today a favourite machine of mine because of how well it's games were.
It's one of those, the arcade version is and always will be the best, I've never played the TG version but between an AMIGA and the GEN version I know fine well which version I'd rather play.
The Amiga conversion was much worst than the Genesis or TurboDuo. Horrible graphics and sounds, absolute garbage, it played nothing like the original and superior Capcom arcade game.
While the AMIGA one wasn't as good as the arcade, it was far better than this because of it's controls. Joystick was as close to analogue aiming as you could get with the game, and it was far better than a D-pad and buttons.
AMIGA one also had voice acting and the sound was far better than this one bud.
I honestly don't know if you've only played the AMIGA version on a shitty emu or if like myself you had the original game, but what you've described aint the AMIGA version.
I've actually played this game right on the Capcom Classics Collection , It's probably one of the most challenging if not difficult shooter's I've played even compared to the 1940 series if you're playing it by yourself , Probably eats up more quarters than a Pseiko or to-hoe shooter. Honestly the last bosses attack pattern when he used the 8 way lasers the spread through his wings is a little hard to memorize.
I honestly can't remember, it's been ages since I played it because I've since bought the PSP version of the capcom collection you've just mentioned, lol.
any idea what the ''dress'' purchase is good for? it only shows up on the very last shop and costs ¥99,999 zenny! i bought it and the only thing it seems to do is show an icon at the bottom.
Never been able to afford it but like a lot of games, I think from the sounds of things, it's there to screw you over and piss you off.
Ninja Gaiden on the X-BOX, I spent a fortune upgraded my special wooden sword through the 7 levels. Must've cost more than upgrading every other weapon combined.
Biggest heap of crap I've ever used as a weapon.
I expected level 7 to turn it into something magical, but nope, still just a wooden training sword.
I read this in a review on Gamefaqs... In last stage, at last shop, you have option to buy ''Dress.'' In Japanese version, if you buy them and beat game without dying, the girl from Shop will appear topless at Ending. This feature was not included in any other version than Japanese one, and later reprogrammed due to certain opinions. But in reprogrammed version, they still left option to buy dress. Why leave it since it provided no more use for anything?
If it is arcade, then the arcade version was just the arcade version. Pretty sure Capcom released it in the arcades first and then ported it to the consoles.
Arcade version had better graphics, music, sound and more levels.
So is this like a game not worth buying if you don't have anyone to play 2 Player with? I like the classic-ish games for download, but mostly XBLA ones, because I also like to talk to my friends of play co-op.

How many credits are on the genesis version?

What a weird co-incidence.
Part of me thinks 7, but I'm not sure.

What is the AMIGA? The arcade version?
xgamer3000 3 years ago
AMIGA was a console, kinda like a P.C, it had some amazing games for it :D
DEIVION212 3 years ago
Then what's the DOS?
xgamer3000 3 years ago
The DOS???
I thought DOS wa s P.C thingy.
Or does DOS mean Arcade?
I haven't a clue I'm afraid.
If it is arcade, then the arcade version was just the arcade version. Pretty sure Capcom released it in the arcades first and then ported it to the consoles.
Arcade version had better graphics, music, sound and more levels.

Cause duke nukem was made for the DOS.
xgamer3000 3 years ago
Ah, so DOS was a console. Never even heard about it before.
So for further answers, I say unto you, wikipedia XD
DEIVION212 3 years ago
I think it was a PC thing, cause it was the one that had the HD pack.

It is, but the AMIGA version was far better IMO. Had extra levels too I believe. I know the arcade version did.

Not really, I find it fun with both, it's just a hell of a lot easier with 2 people, due to the infinite lives thing.

wow nice game. never knew about this one.

Always enjoy the reviews. I wish they would add Amiga games, that would be awesome. You should review Cave Story when that comes out on Wii Ware.
yoran35 3 years ago
yeah i wish they would add amiga emulation aswell.
something tells me though that the wii isnt powerful enough to emulate a commodore amiga. now sure of the processor speed on the wii though.

Won't be buying it, have it on the P.C already, for free. So why buy a game I own for free?
And being freeware, it's legally free.
Cheers :)
Totally agree with the AMIGA statement :)
