  • I sort of agree with you partly and partly I don't. There are a lot of people who could make art or get better at it if they were encouraged. On the other hand there are a lot of people who just plane are going to be talented at sports or politics or fly fishing or cooking and they just really don't have any real interest in art. If they do have an interest there just plain going to excel at another activity besides art.

  • Yes, whenever I hear people say "I can't even draw a stick figure!" I think "really? A sequence of lines and a circle or some other shape is too hard for you?" Sarcasm aside, you could do a lot with stick figures! I used to draw my own comic series with stick figures, it was a whole universe of stick people.

  • Well said Elphyrafire :0) *****

  • Great vid, thank you for sharing! Very interesting, i enjoyed this. Cheri

  • so true....amazed ...subbed....

  • Fantastic video. I'm always a bit confused when people tell me "you're so lucky you can draw," I'm thinking - hang on! If you'd spend most of your life drawing everything that's around you and in your head you'd probably be better than me! ?Luck? Not really. I work my ass off at this because I love creating. After a certain age fear of ridicule seems to stop so many people from trying, and creativity becomes something bestowed upon the lucky.

    :o)

" We all have art to produce," is a great line.

  • Thanks- your comments are so true. It's a little bit of luck and a little bit of talent but how can you know if you have any ability unless you try it out (more than once!).

  • cool video, cool message. You're cool.

  • adored this video. each point...

  • i loved your video and now i will hit the subscribe button!

  • I love it!

  • I could not agree with you more.

  • I'm so glad you agree :) i heart you!

  • I have added this to my playlist!!! I wish I did this video. Your soooooooooo spot on with every word you say!!! :)

  • I'm so glad you featured this one again, it was my favorite way back then, and still my favorite today, It's why I fell in love with your heart and mind to begin with!!! :)

  • i finally watched your videos! (so much random stuff going on...bah!)

    but i loved this video...and i totally agree!! :D

  • I sooo agree with you! Wonderful video, thanks to pyramiaou for sending me here!

  • Great video ! And I totally agree.

  • Hi Elphy :) That's a pet peeve of mine, too; I always come back with 'we're all artists' etc...if they say 'I can't draw a straight line' I quote Hundertwasser: 'the straight line leads to hell' LOL I knew an artist years ago who became a rope salesman to make a living. He gave lectures haha on being a most creative rope salesman :D

  • Straight line leads to hell- ha ahaha

I'm totally going to tell that to the moms in my son's preschool class who always take over their children's art projects so it can turn out perfectly.

  • NO, no paint! LOL- just pre-cut out crafts- puppies, flowers, sheep, etc. You are supposed to assemble it exactly like the prototype. Well, you can bet Jack puppy looks more like a cyclops sea creature... and it's sooo cute!

  • great observations! I completely agree!

  • Thanks, Bean!

  • LOve the vid, I just spent all of yesterday moaning and groaning about wanting to start a Art journal and not being artistic enough and a little frightened..And now u made me feel artsy...going to start now.I think.thanx take care.('',)

  • Yeah, screw it and just do it! You'll feel better.

  • Great points made. Cool t-shirt. Cool vid.

  • i agree elphy.i dont think any of us are born with artistic ability.the only gift any of us can hope to receive is the passion and desire to do what we do.another enjoyable video.peace and all the best.

  • Too true, Zig. I have to remind myself of that often.

  • It's a great vlog elphy!!

    Love your shirt!

  • this is excellent, Elphyrafire. I love your approach, and I have no idea how you did it, but the pan against the art is too cool. I believe what you say. There is an artist in everyone. Great work, and nice to see you back.

  • Thanks AVDJ!

And by the way, that's a dollar store plastic table cloth made into a green screen in my living room.

  • Soooo true!

    Great editing!

  • Great video! I love this!

  • Your face reminds me of someone........and I cannot remember who........

  • I had to come back and watch your video again. What camera and video editing software do you use???

Love the message you are putting out there for folks. I agree 100%...everyone can learn to do art!

  • Thanks Deb,

I use a Sony Handycam and Adobe Premier. I'm slowly learned how to use it!

  • Thanks!!!!

  • WELL SAID!

so good to see you =^_^=

  • Hey, I was watching your vid while you were watching mine! We are so in tune, my friend.

  • STILL freaking awesome. I love how you put this one together. Makes me wanna go play with WMM Effects... I don't think it's as cooooool as the editing programs most of y'all are using nowadays though, lol. Fave's it.

  • I used to use WMM all the time. My first 2 vlogs were done with it. I moved onto Adobe but I still like WMM for quick and uncomplicated things.

    xoxox

  • Spot on Elphy... my feelings on the subject exactly!

  • Lori needs a commision of somekind for sending all these tubers my way, and I'm not talking about potatoes. I think I'll have to make my next vlog about her or something.

  • I just had to come back to watch and listen to this great song again too! :) I LOVE IT! Who is the artist? Well, besides yourself, the musical one I mean?

  • It's pretty old school, Lori. It's called "Inside" and it's by Patti Rothberg. Circa 1990 or so. Has always been one of my favorites, though.

  • I just had to come back to watch and listen to this great song again too! :) I LOVE IT! Who is the artist? Well, besides yourself, the musical one I mean?

  • very good...lori sent me...i subbed...thanks for making vids...

  • Thanks so much! Lori is my recruiter. She deserves a raise.

  • Sure Always glad to recommend The Arts! ;)

  • Awesome video ! And such a true startement! We were born to create:)

Love your shirt! I want one!

  • I know I WANT ONE too! I may just have to make one of my own!

  • I wonder if you privately email Dale (DaleATL2), if he would secretly make you one. A few years ago he was selling them but I think Youtube got mad.

And thanks for sending all the peeps over to my video! So now, you need to make another art/talking kind of vlog like you did awhile ago so I can make a response to you.

  • OMGOSH - I have sooooooooooooo missed your videos, and this is just another one of my FAV's. I've featured it, I just love your creative ability Elphy. Your messages are always spot on! Again, just to watch you on video is a work of art! Your editing ability your paintings, your words, your wisdom! Loved this. :) Yeah our Elphy mommy is BACK!

  • Thanks, LA, for always having a nice thing to say. I have to find more time to make videos. I'm happy my new baby is so easy-going (Jack was high maintanence so I paid my price, I guess). Rya is a total dream!

  • Lori, thank you for sending me this video!

Elphy, you're, for want of a better word, very 'cool' and I'm subscribing this instant!

  • Aint she cool??

  • Ha ha- if you saw me today dragging my tantrum-throwing 2 year old out of the McDonald's playplace and chucking him into the minivan, "cool" wouldn't have been the word!

    Thanks for the sub!

  • Been there done that. LMAO, "I said, get in the car NOW"!!!!!!

  • I think that this is my favorite of all you art vlogs to date!

And WOW! You found TIME!! How in the WORLD?! LOL

    Extremely well done, and inspiring!

Almost makes me want to do one. ;-)

    ...someday

    *hugs*

  • Oh, and nice shirt! :-D

  • Dale, I think your latest driving home video is one of your best. If you took that energy and made a vlog it would be awesome!

And I do love that shirt. Now I can wear it again! I still feel stupid wearing it in public, though.

  • I really loved this videos message and I love the way you edited it! awesome!

  • Thanks for your kind words.

  • Nice painting. Good to see you are up and strong again.

  • Kind of- more like bored. Thanks for the comment.

  • THANK YOU so much for the dedication Elphy. The first time I have had a video responmse too! It's a fantastic vlog as ever. Wasn't it Picasso who said all children are artists and the problem is to keep that as we grow up?

  • Good point. That Picasso knows what he's talking about.

  • A great video! A FGN favorite!!

    Peace,

    Angie

  • Glad to be a friggn' FGN favorite- LOL

  • OH I'm so glad you're back!!! I've been waiting for videos from you and popsicleculture!! Love you guys. Hugs and Kisses. Hope the baby is sleeping through the night!

  • Hardy har har- sleep? what is that? I haven't slept in 2 years. Do I sound bitter? I am. I should vlog about getting by on no sleep. I'm an expert.

Thanks for the nice comment. I am eagerly awaiting the second part to the princess/apple saga.

  • love your opening - the three image scream, eating the paper. You are cool Elyphy. You are very uninhibated with your creative expression which makes me happy and is entertaining. You are one of my top five youtube favorite video makers. And I like the closing too with the open mouth. I also like your message and I agree with you. Rock it people. Don't be afraid. :)

  • Ha ha- Thanks!

You are def in my top 5 as well. In fact, you're number one as far as Youtube dancing goes. One of these days I'm going to bust a move in my vlog. But not today.

  • yes! I can't wait.

  • Hey cool! especially when the words come out of your mouth at the end.

  • Hey cool! especially when the words come out of your mouth at the end.

  • Thanks CS, I had wanted to do that for a long time!

  • I likes that too. Care to give us a lesson? Or is this a special thing you keep up your sleeve?

  • Elphy YES everyone has that inner child wanting to play, to draw, to color and BE!! Cool Vlog....FAB to see my girrrrl making her vid box BIGGER!! ooooooooooooie BABY!! Hugs, Meg

  • Where did we go wrong? Somehow the innerchild got lost for some peeps. Preschool kids just don't care what others think. We should all make art with that attitude.

  • I like that attitude Elphy!! Maybe like allot of times fear or doing it wrong gets stuck in ours heads....I use to be really shy about my music. Always thought I was a painter who played gutiar...now I know I am a singer, songwriter, musican and ARTISTS!! No separation...just one a big PACKAGE! It is cool now to declare it...now on to the rest of humanity so they can get that they are amazing and brilliant. And can SHINE!!

  • Yeah! What the hell happened? Where's my kiddy mojo? (Looks under carpet, behind curtains, in the fridge, and in that box of rice crispies). Huh. (Shrugs). Ah-HA! I know where it is. And I don't care that it's smooshed over with crayons. It's MINE. Hahaha. You're absolutely correct!

  • Well made and very true.

    Thanks for sharing

  • I love your videos!!!

  • welcome back elphy!! Nice to see you in that box again!

I also share that peeve. I figure art is more than what other people think of your work, and should be more about what you get out of doing it.

Let's teach the world to sing!! haha :)

  • Totally, cheeky.

And when I put this vid up I noticed there is still no art category! What is up with that?

  • Hi Paul congratulations - it got featured!!! (did you recognise Elphy from my drawing??)
