this is all very intriguing, but i believe it is also very possible that at one time in the distant past light did reach our brains just as a jellyfish has a transparent body. i think we developed our skull to protect our brains and our eyes are just extended out from our brains. so we use our eyes to send signals to the brain which may have at one time been exposed directly to light but developed our skull to protect itself.

Interesting..! HOWEVER; there is obviously an outside reality, since it can affect us whether we perceive/are aware of it or not. If I get shot in the back of my head with a 50cal sniper bullet, my brain will be splattered and I dead as a door nail, before my ears even registered the sound waves from the shot.

But when the scientists made the measurements to "prove" this phenomenon, they were basing their results on the fact that "it is ok" to make measurements. But this contradicts the fact that measurements are not absolute - they are just a perception of reality.
@jewbinson they did emphasize that concern you have, in the video. It "is" okay to make measurements and try to solve the puzzle with missing pieces, just like it's possible to be conscious in your dreams and solve logical problems even though that's "not real" either..example.

I think one of the most promising avenues for research into this are studies of traumatic brain injury cases, where individual personalities have been radically altered through brain damage. When you're in a dream you don't realise it's happening but once you encounter things for example that opposes the law of motion then you'll begin to perceive it as an illusion as it is not real. Maybe or maybe not can you be woken up by then. But what if according to postmodernist thinking that there are no "truths" but rather it is subjective ideas based on individuals like Einstein and Newton. What if the light of speed barrier is broken? Would we then be woken up from reality?

I also love how condescending this video is. They say science can prove all this. Then they say all our perceptions are not real. When 2 different people see something they will both describe the same thing. Therefore "something" really is there, that are brains are programmed to percieve things in the same way as other humans is part of the point that should be studied. The problem is that conclusions made in this video are based on our 5 senses. If they are not real, than further statements don't have a solid base. Everything they realized during their life on this "planet" is misleading, and so should be thoughts brought in this video. Please if anyone disagrees, correct me. this is all very intriguing, but i believe it is also very possible that at one time in the distant past light did reach our brains just as a jellyfish has a transparent body. i think we developed our skull to protect our brains and our eyes are just extended out from our brains. so we use our eyes to send signals to the brain which may have at one time been exposed directly to light but developed our skull to protect itself.

Scientists have found that it is our brain that perceives reality. But when the scientists made the measurements to "prove" this phenomenon, they were basing their results on the fact that "it is ok" to make measurements. But this contradicts the fact that measurements are not absolute - they are just a perception of reality.

I think one of the most promising avenues for research into this are studies of traumatic brain injury cases, where individual personalities have been radically altered through brain damage. One such case being that of Phineas Gage.

When you're in a dream you don't realise it's happening but once you encounter things for example that opposes the law of motion then you'll begin to perceive it as an illusion as it is not real. Maybe or maybe not can you be woken up by then. But what if according to postmodernist thinking that there are no "truths" but rather it is subjective ideas based on individuals like Einstein and Newton. You can't say "then your just colorblind" because "colorblind" is nothing more but an inherent value created by our social structure. There is no "normal"or "weird". I also love how condescending this video is. They say science can prove all this. Then they say all our perceptions are not real. Then if that is true the science they observe is not real, thus their "proof" is undermined. They also theorize a "soul", which even the "unreal" science they are using does not support. They're saying that the "reality is that there is no reality", with the exception of the soul and its creator. It's possible to be accurate or precise in an idea, yet have it technically not be real. Inconsistencies in our vocabulary, language, (and) our choice of words are probably the biggest issue when it comes to conveying ideas...I include myself.

We may only see things as an image in our head, so that we are not really in contact with the real world. But here is some thing that i find interesting about it. Let me take a pencil (holding in my hand) and break it in half, now it is no longer a pencil, because a pencil is one object. Now i have 2 new things that used to be a pencil. If we cannot grasp the real world, then what made that pencil break into two pieces?

"WARNING" a VERY appropriate begging to this video.
unfortunately it is badly articulated philosophy (see "Descartes' meditations" and "The ontological argument") Dressed up in sloppy scientific language and concepts; eg to say the bird is "nothing but" our perceptions of it is rubbish, OUR KNOWLEDGE of the bird is "nothing but" our perceptions, the reality of the bird is another matter all to gether. I'm committed to spirituality, science & philosophy, this vid is disappointing & frustrating.

"This is the soul." Ok. I'll play along if we are just assigning the term, "soul" to that which perceives subjective reality via sensory input. But the word, "soul" has religious connotations about God and eternal life. And when you search for the rest of the movie like imoslimah says, you find out that the whole video builds to the idea that there is an omnipotent creator named, "Allah." Seriously. Just when you become convinced that the author is illuminating the path to objectivity . . .

wow, so could it be that we are just a group of atoms flashing this reality of physicality? if you've had a out of body eperience (real one) you might understand what am trying to say. its were you can still see the physical reality but super enhanced, as if that group of atoms that makes the soul is part of the atoms making the "known" reality without the heavy body

this is a good introduction to awaken people to the consciousness of creation that embodies all life but in order graduate from 3rd density into the golden age after 2012 your going to have to really start changing your life in a loving spiritual way and your going to have to go on a full out quest for the TRUTH.

Think of it this way...whatever "mind", we'll say, first perceived us..this mind had a predisposition that we had to be physically plausible(had to make sense) to exist in matter form. So as the said "mind" continued to find a way to make us exist, we existed...and as this "mind" keeps perceiving different things, different things keep...well....BEING...? I try to be conscious that everything in this world is perception and nothing but that, this world would BE if we didn't PERCEIVE it to BE

This is to advanced for all of us..Here is some homework..On a large piece of paper write 1+1=2...Post it were you will see it often...It will give you three emotions..simple.clear and certain...Dwell on these three emotions and go inward.It will show you how you lie to yourself.At first you will feel embarrassed,then you will struggle with it...then finally..a rebirth...At this point the world will never be the same.You will be scared,you will adjust..Then...share with other people

although the brain creates the image it is perceived real as the data the brain uses to interpret images came form millions of years of evolution starting from single cell organisms which perceived light directly as life evolved it added more and more information to this genetic library so all you see is depended on your genes if your a alien you view world differently based on the data of alien genome .. so our genetic library is exclusive to this galaxy

I think us humans have too many wild imaginations, misleading theories, and too many impulses towards wishful thinking. When you can exist without substance (food, water, nutrition, etc) and survive condidtions of extreme cold, heat, or toxic conditions, then we can consider the possibility the physical world doesn't exist. Until then, this stuff is taking the concept of perception WAAAYYY overboard.

Okay, I agree with the whole perspective and belief creating your own reality to a certain point...However we cannot will our way and live without food or water....And there is no evidence that we can will ourselves from cancer and serious illness from will alone without medical intervention....I would LOVE to believe quantum theory was the big answer, but the theory of relativity seems to hold more truth for our existance and life on earth....so wtf..

The problem is that conclusions made in this video are based on our 5 senses. If they are not real, than further statements don't have a solid base. Everything they realized during their life on this "planet" is misleading, and so should be thoughts brought in this video. Please if anyone disagrees, correct me. I don't want to be wrong on this subject, at least not obviously.

I'm not one to say that this physical reality isn't real , but I do lack belief in it.
