Saw them a few times, at least once at a theater in Manayunk that had all the seating removed and replaced with living room furniture. Kaleidoscope may have been the theater's name?
Truly love this band. Saw them quite a few times at The Electric Factory in Philly & later at The Looking Glass in Croydon, PA. Wonderful band! Too bad to hear about Randy Monaco. Another piece of rock history gone.
Reminds me of the Second Set at the Second Fret. Also reminds me of a couple of girls my friend and I befriended at that time. All I know is their names are Barbara and Mary and we were all in NYC one night to see Mandrake Memorial. Are you two ladies still out there anywhere?
I was at the concert when the Doors were at the Arena...me and a very special GF at the time, Maxine. Thats all she wanted...was to see the Doors. Shes dead now, though...but anyway I got to see, for the first time, Mandrake Memorial. Still a big fan, got all their stuff and still listen often...love their words and the harpsichord...
The Trauma, the Second Fret, the Main Point - saw them so many times in the mid and later 60's. Michael Kac went on to be a math professor in the midwest but is still playing music. What wonderful memories of college and that part of my life....
Great song - great album - I saw them many times at the Trauma in Phila as well as the Main Point in Bryn Mawr. Michael Kac is an amazing keyboardist. If you have the rest of this albul, please post - thanx
@mike6747a maybee craig anderton does he did a lot with writing articles for guitar player magazine editing electronic music magazines teaching seminars on electronic music [ i have a garage full of radio tapes that a dj from wfdu gave me of all kinds of new york stations im still going through it all ] .
One of my favorite local bands and yes I saw them at The Main Point. My favorite track was SUNDAY. Can someone upload that pretty please? I also saw Good God play, they used to be Elizabeth before that, Great memories for sure.
I was lucky enough to see The Mandrake Memorial at a little club in East Allentown, Pa. called The Purple Owl and then again with Woody's Truck Stop when they opened for The Doors at the Arena in South Philadelphia (before The Doors were big enough for the Spectrum!) what a band! I wish their recorded material was more easily available. One of the great underground bands from Phila. Does anyone remember Good God?
you could find the album ot a blogspot and download it. all you need is winzip to unzip the file. Or get the lp. I got mines for like 10 bucks!! I payed 90 for the cd!!
I may be one of the very few people outside of Philadelphia who had that LP. :-) I found it in a cut-out bin in the early 1970s. The group deserves to be better known.
@spacepatrolman - Might that club in Wildwood have been The Guiding Light? The American Dream and other Philly area bands played there a lot. A band called The Last Rezort was the house band there in the summer of '68 (I think).
About time someone put dark lady up!! I love this band and this album!! Id say out of their three this is the best!!! You could look up the drummer on facebook. that guy is super cool. Also craig anderton has a website. Im hoping to meet him in janurary!! fingers crossed.

They had electric 12 string like the byrds
electric keyboards like the doors
the singer sounds like steve katz and sitar and they played whole sides of albums note for note perfect live what more do you want.
