Thankfully, he didn't end up like many artists having problems with drugs (although he was very close) and he became funny and cheerful again :) It's the most admirable thing about him, this ability to live through these horrible things in life and not only survive but also keep doing amazing music :)

But why did the idiot interviewer cut him off at 4:31 when Dave was just about to say something about his drug use that sounded like it was going to be one of the most profound statements about himself and what he was going through!

Drug addiction is a strange thing, because there is much shame and hiding truths from oneself mostly, but one is not blind to it, and it s kind of like a deadly dance.
This is Dave at his lowest, yet most honest points in his life, speaking straight from the heart. I guess he was "stripped" of any facade that most entertainers these days hide behind.

I love DM, always have and always will but, to see Dave like this always saddens me. I'm so glad that he has turned a corner and ditched that rock look in favour of the traditional, clean-cut Dave Gahan that we all know and love.

I'm glad he's way over all that. But I really hope he does not get cancer or some horrible disease and gets taken away from us.

He has always been one of the more rare breeds that tend to be more open about themselves but this interview is probably the most baring of all. But why did the idiot interviewer cut him off at 4:31 when Dave was just about to say something about his drug use that sounded like it was going to be one of the most profound statements about himself and what he was going through!

@socaldm you are so right, yea, at 4:31 he has such an honest, soul-searching expression, such sadness. ( as throughout the whole interview). Drug addiction is a strange thing, because there is much shame and hiding truths from oneself mostly, but one is not blind to it, and it s kind of like a deadly dance.
