2000 was a crap year for WCW. No wonder people don't take pro wrestling seriously. Who the fuck puts the belt on David Arquette and who agrees to job to him?
Did DDP seriously pull up in an ambulance? Do they think hospitals will just let you drive off in one of those if you have a wrestling match to interfere in?
hey you two squabblers are better than watching the wrestling these days, i'm on ravelicious's side. wrestling ruled upto around i'd say around 2003 maybe even 2002, to me it doesn't even exist anymore i wish everyday that it's all just a bad dream and that i'll wake up one day and it'll all be back the way it was.
yeah, but i am with Fatman here, if they wanted Arquette to screw DDP, why not have him in a tag match with DDP vs. Jarrett and Bischoff at the pay per view, then have him use a guitar on DDP?? instead he wins the world title.
the storyline itself was better than most of the shit wwe gives us today, titles dont mean what they did way before, and this storyline was actually what it was:ENTERTAINING, check my videos and youll understand it better, as i have a video adressing this storyline, and why it wasnt AS BAD, as so many fans WHO DIDNT EVEN WATCH WCW, say
An actor with no wrestling training became the world champion of one of the big two wrestling companies in a publicity stunt for a movie. And that helped lead directly to the collapse of the company. How in the HELL can you say that it's better than anything, PERIOD?
you really want me to start? this will lead to multiple posts but whatever: Did you even watch the storyline? The storyline itself was good an entertainment. Arquette never wanted the title in the first place, he was given it to promote the movie. And they gave him a nice storyline. The story went like this: Arquette won the title in a match to promote the movie, by accident. Everyone were surprised. DDP and Kanyon then protected him so he wouldnt lose the belt
if arquette lost the belt DDP would lose his shot at recapturing it at the ppv. Arquette had to face Bischoff, Abott etc in the process, in order to keep the belt. However you had DDP, and Kanyon always coming down to help him. Sometimes Bischoff would send his goons to try and stop the good guys from helping arquette. In the end, at the ppv, Arquette would betray DDP.
as I said, storyline wise, the story was pretty darn good. It brought movie fans and arquette fans to wcw. you cant watch more here: watch?v=RsNrHIf2kyU plus, the "he didnt have any training" doesnt apply, arquette was personally trained by Kanyon on real life, before the movie, during the movie, and before his wcw stint.
You're right. I can't read it. Because it's not true.
Well written storylines do not involve actors winning world championships with no prior wrestling experience. So he trained with wrestlers. Show me what major wrestling company he competed for before joining WCW.
Well written storylines do not accelerate the downfall of a wrestling company. You are probably the only person on planet Earth who believes that this wasn't anything other than a complete and utter failure.
Ric Flair said on his book to be the man when David Arquette won the WCW World Title that title at that time became a who gives a fuck title. flair thought that was a slap in the face
Not to mention...GREAT camera work missing the Diamond Cutter to cut away to the locker room. It was sad to see WCW get this bad after being so hot a few years earlier.
David Arquette could get the belt any time he wants it. Totally under-rated.

@artemusprine I don't think he could get it clean, but he could get it.

Well they did say the World was going to end in the year 2000.. maybe they forgot to mention the other 2 words "Championship Wrestling"
btw.. I would still take this over current WWE

tank abbot was WCWs answer to WWE having Shamrock
SweetWhiskerz 1 year ago
@SweetWhiskerz Except WWE actually used Shamrock to some great potential. Abbott is a legitimate badass and was wasted by Russo.

@91gt306 wcw was going down hill long before this, they were seeing problems with this in the middle of 1999.

Got how did WCW collapse and become this bad so quickly?

This match pretty much sums up why WCW deserved to die.

The story was not good. There was no legitimate reason for an actor with no professional wrestling experience to win a world championship. None.
You can try and justify this all you want, but the fact is that this was probably the final nail in WCW's coffin.
If it was so good in entertainment why were WCW fans leaving in droves?
Anyone who calls this anything more than a complete and utter failure that devalued a world championship is not a wrestling fan. Sorry.
