Mmm, I think Daltry is the ultimate rock singer too - but - this is actually an easy song for a pub band to sing, and secondly, unfortunately - he's lost his voice, compared to early 70's stuff
Umm, Roger Daltrey is sixty-four years old, and spent most of those years in front of a loud fucking band. I'd imagine his voice would be a little worn out by now.
Very accurate and obvious point. As people age their voices tend to lower. Case in point Robert Plant's voice has also lowered. For Zeppelins recent 'one off' show, when the band rehearsed Jimmy Page had to take the tunes down one step to better accomadate Plant's voice. With THEWHO Roger drinks a shit load of tea before gigs and tries his best to save his voice. But after 20 shows,at two hours, shit he's only human, as you so poignantly stated. LONG LIVE ROCK!
Yes thats what confuses me ,why do The Who not lower or change any keys for Roger? I thought it was because the technicality of some songs like Baba O'Reilly(which roger ALWAYS has trouble with now) or Wont get Fololed again having those synth intro's would make it tricky to change the keys. But either way ,roger's having difficulty ,just like anyone would, with voice changes over lonmg periods of time. They really should think about changing keys.Roger will always be fucking amazing.
Good enough that he had the legendary OX's approval. JAE and Pino were friends, and peers and Pino was part of THEWHO's inner circle. After the OX's untimely death, two days before the '02 US tour was to start, the ONLY person THEWHO could call was Pino. He came at a moments notice and has filled in brilliantly. Is he the OX? Shit, WHO is? But he's an excellent replacement that plays the OX's bits with killer precision. Also Pete has worked with him since the 80's on numerous solo projects.
I saw Pino with Pete on the Psychoderelict tour (some technical glitches that night but still brilliant). No flash, he was just himself. In a way, the hallmark of a bassist.
the who STILL dominate all others. i saw them last november..they didnt disappoint. they blew my face off, actually.i swear im going to daltrey and townshend's funerals when they die, but theyre immortal to me anyways :)
oh yes i was ther....

No John Entwistle = No Who.
When Keith died the Who were scard but still surviving.
But when John died the magic just went like that.
I respect Rodger and Pete for carrying on but in my opinion the heart is just gohn.
