  • sublime,the greatest performer period.

  • Ok, NOW I get Ms Ross. Heart breaking performance, INCREDIBLE vocals! Pop's great gain is jazz's BIG loss! Now wonder MJ was in love with her.

  • Amazing :)

  • FANTASTIC!

  • She killed it

  • she a great soul singer, love it x

  • BLOWN AWAY

  • She makes it feel like she's good friends with every person in her audience. Wow.

  • Just as the movie Glamorous Performance and she always will be she helped change history.

  • I love Diana, but this is Barbra's song. I was prepared to hate it but I have hand it to her, Diana made it her own, she put her foot in it

  • @PoeticPoppa i would say it was ella fitzgerald's song...then diana...then barbra. this live version is dynamic here.

  • @wonderboyjoy Touchez

  • I just love the way she sings this song...just moves me to tears!

  • Soo emotional!!! I love it! Shes amazing!! It brought me to tears

  • What did the guy say at the beginning before she stared singing? I think it was "You can sing anything!"

  • We love her in Colombia. Beautiful, beautiful, beatiful!!

  • I used to wonder what's the big deal with her. With this performance alone, now I know! She's terrific!

  • NOW THAT IS WAS A CALL A TRUE DIVA !!! THAT WORD WAS INVENTED FOR DIANA ROSS!!!

  • I like Madonna as an artist and admire her work, but in comparison to Diana Ross it just isn't a match - Diana has had #1 singles since she was a teenager in 1963, and is still a huge concert draw today nearing her 70s, Madonna is still popular, but in terms of longevity Diana has her beaten.

  • Everything in in that tear- from the moment she sings Soooo and then wipesthe tear form her cheek on her solder. She had that audience in the palm of her hand. By the time she stood up it was over - she had them. She is a PHENOMEANL entertainer. Diana can pull you into a moment like no other performer.

  • @SpazChat Diana has over 70 hit records. I'm talking in terms of hit records. I really don't think Madonna has topped that.(singles)

  • I couldn't have said it better sirenaazul2008, Diana had finesse! Something most singers seem to be lacking- not just now, but back then!

  • ..............Diana Ross.

  • how beautiful and touching, i cry each time i hear it......huichol53........

  • her voice her voice............i love it.

  • the bomb diggidy!!!!!! <3 u Diana

  • the bomb diggidy!!!!!!! <3 u diana

  • DIANA HAS MORE HIT RECORDS THAN ANY OTHER FEMALE ARTIST IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC!!!!!!

  • @MrJeffw223 , Not true. Sorry to burst your bubble, but Madonna has long since topped them all.

  • @MrJeffw223 and SpazChat the number of hit records an artist has doesnt mean they are the most talented. There are dozens of Soul singers who never had a hit record but had real talent and made some of the greatest records ever.

  • Diana I Love You!

  • i love it so much

    she kills it

  • Love, love, love Ms. Ross, but why is she so much lighter now. I mean look at her here and then on the recent Oprah show -- bleached her skin much?

  • her vulnerability is amazing! her voice just touches me .. love her!

  • Isn't this Michael Jackson singing "My Man?"

  • NOBODY LOVES DIANA ROSS MORE THAN I SHE HAS BEEN MY IDOL MY ALL THAT AND EXTREMELY MORE AND ITS BEEN A PLEASURE FOR MY ME TO HEAR MY FRIENDS ADDRESS ME AS MISS ROSS LUV 2 LUV U DIANA FROM K DEVINE

  • Ah relly believe that this particular night, was her at her absolute zenith!!From the very first opening bars of this show, right the way through, she is absolutely flawless!!She keeps the whole event thrusting forward...lifting everyone up and then soothing them down for the slower tempo tracks, the whole time keeping the patter personal yet always commanding!!It's an absolutely breathtaking display of her now legendary skills as an entertainer...she sure has 'come a long way baby'!!Magnificent!!!!

  • nobody can sing this song like ms. streisand!!

  • @selsar well then go back to her page and stay there!

  • Comment removed

  • @selsar Miss Who?

  • @selsar STREISAND IS BAD BAD DIANA ROSS IS MICHAEL JACKSON BAD......K DEVINE

  • the freat thing about this time in diana's career was that she had been in the business for almost 20 years and she was still performing at this exceptional lervel. then a few years later her career kick started again with the chic album. diana kept having hits throughout the world, especially in the UK where she had a huge hit in 2004 with westlife.

  • so much class

  • We just saw hwe in concert and she is the BEST@,,,,A TRUE STAR!

  • WOW!

  • This was one of her best live performances ever.

    WE LOVE YOU MISS ROSS.

  • Watch the final minute of the song and then dare to say she wasn't one of the greatest singers of our time.

  • Show us your tits!

  • Has Diana came out and spoke to anyone concerning MJ death?

  • @MRJACKSON19581

She dedicated the finale of her recent tour to him, there are plenty of videos on YT showing her moving tribute.

His kids were even at The Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles to see it.

  • @doolie50 THANKS.. BEING A FANOF HERS .WHY DIDN"T I KNOW THIS..WHAT ARE THE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE WHERE SHES DOING THE TRIBUTES?

  • @MRJACKSON19581

Look up Diana ross at radio city or diana ross at the nokia theatre, the one at the nokia is the best as she tells the audience that Michaels kids are in the audience and than sings' missing you' and 'you are not alone' with a giant image of them both on the screen behind her.

    Enjoy it, it's very moving.

  • I love Nikki Howards version of this, but as good as it sounds it doesn't rip my heart apart like this one. This seems so personal. As beautiful as she is, I feel she has lived the lyrics to this song. She goes to the dark space of the lyrical content, when she sings. You really feel it...at "he beats me too." She says, "I hate that line." Maybe Diana has lived this song at sometime in her life. None the less...she is beautiful and has a pleasant angelic voice. Flawless. Sad song, but flawless.

  • thank you so very much for sharing, she's a brilliant , vivacious woman :)

  • Why is she crying?

  • @truth8809 It is a very emotional song, and Miss Ross put her heart and soul into it.

  • I love Diana, but this song belongs to Barbra.

  • @billyboylb loves me some babs, but the best version of this song is billie holiday's with this particular performance coming a close second. barbra's funny girl version is too big and fannie brice's too maudlin.

  • @billyboylb That song may belong to Barbara to you, BUT not to me. Barbara is a very good singer, but when it comes to those types of songS, she lacks the PERSONAL DEPTH, FEELING & INTERPRETATION in her SOUL, even though she sings perfectly in terms of notes.

  • Goddess!!!

  • A definitive performance amongst so many definitive performances. She just kicks this song into a level most singers can only dream of. I've seen her perform this many times live including directly to Berry Gordy at the legendary Pantages show in '04. No one can master the range of music that Miss Ross has, and this clip just proves that point.

  • @hallauthor I would have loved to see her sing it to Berry Gordy! wow.

  • Diana fooled me by acting like she was younger.

  • It's great! PERIOD!!!! HA!

  • Her version of this standard rates with any that was done. But of course there are some that say she "can't sing". If this isn't singing then I'm at a loss..

  • MAGNIFICENT !!!

  • OMG MY FAV FOREVER

  • Ohhhhhh.... beautiful. so beautiful. doesn't she seem fragile and so human?

  • She's royalty.

  • Diana and Michael are my two superstars. :]

  • I think my family ordered HBO more or less to see this concert. Well worth it.

  • I lieterally grew up on this concert, my parents had the cassette and this was the only thing to keep me still, I was a baby singing this.. I love it, I love her.

  • Diana, I wish I could have given you a hug after this performance. Unfortunately, I wasn't even born yet.. :(

  • love Diana God bless you.

  • she sung this song!!! she is strong & clear!!

  • She did this song in her big hit movie "Lady sings the BOOZE" and what a performance that was.

  • I didn't use to be a Diana Ross fan. And THEN I saw this. I fell in love w/ her charisma, her capability to CONNECT w/ an audience, her honesty, simplicity and the EMOTION in her voice. Not everyone needs to sound like Aretha Franklin or Whitney Houston. Diana has a softer sound, but has finesse, and more than anything, it's about the emotion in her voice. I hear a Christina Aguilera, who's great technique-wise, but is so busy making sure she kicks ass that she forgets to FEEL. DIANA DELIVERS!!!

  • @sirenaazul2008 you did not mention Aguilera with Franklin and Houston in the same paragraph! Hell, she cannot even sing better than Ross - technique or otherwise! I think Ross is a very good singer. Nowehere near Streisand/Carey/Houston/Franklin/Fitzgerald, but definitely very accomplished.

  • @RanjitMorey I personally don't like Christina's technique, because her voice doesn't have a clean, clear sound for my taste, but she does have power. About that Star Spangled Banner, though... Absolutely dreadful. The reason I mentioned Christina was to contrast how cold and impersonal she seems on stage versus how warm and amazing Diana is.

I agree with aaaaall the ladies you mentioned as being amazing -- except for Carey. Mariah used to be so amazing she'd make me cry. Now it's all whisper.

  • @sirenaazul2008 well, even Houston and Streisand have lost most of their voices... I admit the whisper thing she does is ridiculous, but what sets Carey apart from Houston is that she still has an impeccable obsession with staying on pitch. Houston makes no attempt whatsoever. Still, both are not even close to what they once were - the greatest singers of all time.

  • Now, That's a diva! She doesn't need to shake her rump, be half naked, allow some half wit millionaire to call her *itch. The woman is a true singer in the true sense of the word. There will never be another like her. She laid the ground work for all of the female performers of today and the minority performers not only black. Go Diana Go!

  • There is something so beautiful in Diana's soul that goes beyond all the petty human judgements of her mistakes, temperament and limitations. This woman was born to perform and to communicate, which is a loving gift she has given generously for decades now. She has shown by example the virtues of hard work, vital energy, perseverance, setting goals & creating dreams, beautiful values & personal transformation. Let's honor Diana Ross and hold her up to the Light with LOVE ***

  • @mikel3363 I SO AGREE!

  • @mikel3363 "There is something so beautiful in Diana's soul that goes beyond all the petty human judgements of her mistakes, temperament and limitations"

    .

    AMEN to this...

    .

    i know she's not perfect

she's done many mistakes in her life

but my love for her is unconditional

I'd marry her now if only given a chance..

  • @mikel3363 My man, you have said everything that should always be said about those individuals who grow and develop under the auspices of all things necessary to fail, yet are wildly successful. She is one of our crowning jewels and nothing should make us disrespect her legacy. Peace.

  • She was the best DIVA ever......that voice is like velvet! She set the standard and it's way high!!

  • Oh. wow. I wasn't prepared for this. I swear my jaw hit the floor with the last note. Such a power, but at the same she doesn't "overdo" this, perfect.

  • It's because of performances like this one she was one of the greatest stars during the 70's and early 90's! She is so much more then just a pop/soul diva - she can be a true artist like Edith Piaf, Marlene Dietrich or Lena Horne!

  • Hearing "Soul", instinctively i think about diana ross, matt video and sequins

  • my mother use to look at this tape everyday when i was a child. I know it like the back of my hand. Love it.

  • Say what you will, Diana definitely has the "it factor". You're either born with it or not.

  • I love me some Diana Ross. She is the personification of Diva! She is so captivating.

  • beautiful!!!!!

  • Simply amazing

Does anybody know if this is available on DVD?

  • If you search on Amazon , Diana Ross live, a dvd will appear entitled Diana Ross live in Las Vegas (2009), it was recently released so it is a modern picture of Miss Ross, I purchased the cd it is great, enjoy!

  • wow better than in the movie!!!

  • Amazing! Near the beginning of my 30+ year love affair!

  • Perfect!

  • her best performance ever you feel what shes singing its amazing

  • This was hard for her to sing because she was divorcing her husband at the time.

  • Absolutely Amazing!!!

  • i've never heard this before....WOW!

  • Lovely song!

  • THis video is from Diana Ross' HBO special "Live At Caesar's Palace" in Las Vegas recorded in 1979

  • this is by far the best "my man" performance. Her voice is at its best and she looks like heaven on earth. Man I wish I get to meet her someday.

  • where was this performance? I have the "olschool" cassette tape of this same live version..and the rest of the songs are wonderful! Anyone know?

  • Ross, like Streisand has as many detractors as fanatics. Tis the life of a legedary Diva's... It is what it is..

  • bet her husband was devastated when he learned berry gordy impregnated her and the baby she had while they were married wasn't even his.

  • you are obsessed by diana

  • do you think so? shes one of my favorites or used to be back in her glory days. now?? haven't seen anything of todays' diana that even comes close to the old one.

  • damn, she´s obsessed

  • Diana has always measured herself against Barbra Streisand. She would rather be Barbra Streisand than anyone else in the world. Once, when asked about her idol, she had to admit that she had only admired her from afar because Barbra gives the impression of 'being untouchable'.

  • Barbra and Diana have been at the same cocktail parties, but have only made eye contact and have never had a full conversation. She could never handle a social encounter with Streisand. She would be too jumpy, nervous and intimidated.

  • please no one ever accused Ross of being nervous or jumpy. Ross has never been intimidated by anyone including Streisand. why should she be? Streisand was a white Jew working in a Jewish industry. Ross overcame obstacles that big nose never had to encounter. if anything Streisand was the nervous one in Ross' presence. Ross is super bitch everyone knows that.

  • Barbara Streisand could give Ross seminars and worshops on being a uber bitch, please!

  • Ross owns the reputation of being super bitch sorry to disagree. You don't hear that about BS in the same way you hear that said about Ross. that's been an accepted fact for decades now.

  • You have to read books about her. Have you read her bios? Ross' bitchiness is legend, yes, but she is a kitten in comparison to Streisand. Do some more research.

  • no one has ever ever ever referred to Ross as a kitten, but her bitchiness is legendary. She owns the title of Diva (that is all other divas are compared to her) & likewise she owns the title of bitch (all other bitches are compared to her) not Streisand.

  • One reason they say those things about legends like Diana Ross,"Queen" Aretha Franklin,Tina Turner & now singers of my generation Iike Beyonce' & Mary J Blige is the race factor. Yeah I said it. Celine Dion & Barbra Streisand still aren't judged as harshly as African American singers & performers. A sad but true fact

  • @Missbirdsong .. you are 100% right Steisand has a reputation from way back ... that horrible little person yurherenow is just so limited in his knowledge. he's only 30 and thinks Diana Ross should be making music to appeal to his generation . lol

  • oh the great all knowing Mrmagicmoment has spoken. your old ass is stuck in the past & too stupid to even understand today's reality. because Randy Taraboneli wrote a gossip book about Ross does not make it so. you should educate your self you loser.

  • Mrmagicmoment merry xmas dirt-bag.

  • Some author (Taraborelli ) has written the same thing. Who knows? She's met royalty, Prsidents, Heads of State and Jackie O. I am certain she could pull off a social encounter with Streisand without collasping! BS pees sitting down just like Diana.

  • That's surprising, if true. Suppose Streisand and she were famous at the same time and both tried movies and TV specials. Would have imagined Ross felt she came out of the gospel/blues tradtion. Although, when you think about it, not much gospel or blues in her voice. She was cute. Sang well. We still hear her 40 year old songs and try to sing along. And to her credit, she had a quality that's difficult to immitate, like Streisand.

  • Messylin you are paraphrasing GOSSIP from that book this guy named Randy wrote about Miss Ross more than 20 years ago I dont believe Ross is obsessed with Streisand lol (mostly lies)

  • get a life missmagicmoment.

  • I have dedicated my life to helping children grow up and be productive adults -- that's why I educate your dumb ass as do! WILL YOU PLEASE TO SPELL!

  • boy what's your fascination with dead singers from the 70's? all over your home page. this is 2009 not 1969, bet your an old grayed haired afro wearing, 1970's dressing loser. you spend too much time trolling diana ross sites. get a life.

    lol

  • @yurherenow if it's 2009 why do you spend all your time hating on people from the past let that man and his wife like what they want to like with out you bitchin about how bad it is and how black you wish you were not - I respect the oldies ... even tho that's not my music

  • over21tracks i don't spend my time hating on people from the past, i'm about love and looking with positive anticipation for the future.

  • Are you happy doing what you are doing? @yurherenow Because youre pathetic!

  • happy newyear thefuckdaddy, you really should work on coming up with a better name, yours is disgusting..

  • enlarge on it.. I still don't quite get it ...more details?

  • @yurherenow Like Ms Ross... My wife and I have already made our money and raised our children and do exactly what we like "daily" -- Travel Listen to Only Music we like love our family and social events and enjoy life very much.

sorry that pisses you off so bad..lol

  • MrMagicmoment happy new year to you and your pig.

  • Thank you and same to you yurherenow Ah we are so alike in some ways, aren't we? well... you and my wife at least .

  • Comment removed

  • She's singing about Berry Gordy the Motown ceo that impregnated her.

  • yurherenow I goggled your screen name and this video clip came up One of Diana Ross's greatest performances!!!! Seriously it listed you as internet scum and a hater for Cabaret videos Diana Ross, Paul Anka and gay people -- what a screwed up reputation you have LOL

  • of course anyone who expresses an informed opinion is attacked here Mrunmagicmoment. my comments still stand whatever they were. b.t.w. I gave this performance a favorable review for the most part. this is when she was still interested in singing. everyone knows that today she is a kereoke singer.

  • Nothing could be further from the truth See LOL you lose any possible chance of credibility when you post make-believe rhetoric like that Karaoke singers dont get paid what Diana Ross get paid.

  • Geez. What's up with all the haters? Give Diana Ross her due. Put it all into perspective. Take into account the timing of her ascent. Remember what was going on. Appreciate the drive and ambition. For a long time, no one else did it better. Regard those broken barriers and moved mountains. Ross in her prime is a thing to behold. So much more than what meets the eye and ear. Know that she set the standard.

  • @gray70

I love the fact that all of the most foul-mouthed, vulgar comments come from Ross-haters. Being hated by hateful people is great, for it shows the kind of person she repels.:)

  • The most successful female artist in the Guiness World Book of Records Diana Ross

  • lol, not even close.

  • @yurherenow you have no empathy You also DO NOT have Adult discernment but that is very typical of people your age 30 year old are no longer what they use to be—Adults! You see music people and life the same way as an 8 year old does OTHER PEOPLE EXSIST IN THIS WORLD! You need to find yourself something positive that you can hang on to.

  • people need to stop all the hateful comments all together not just the homo ones- This is about Diana Ross " a woman" and her teriffic performance!

  • Oh How beautiful is this lady .. the greatest of greats :) such a beautiful performance ...Stunning Stunning Stunning

  • correction "oh how beautiful "was" this lady.

  • yurherenow aka yimheretoday of the hate website Ive never seen you but I know for certain that you are ugly from the inside out!

You cant even look yourself in the mirror Im sure, too much evil and negative round you. Im going to join the ranks of people who pay you no attention . You continue your love hate around Diana Ross , She does not care about you or your kind. (Cont)

  • wrong sarah ... don't project your issues and reality onto me. you really need to take something for your illness because you really sound disturbed. get help now!

  • Right on Sarah ignore that clown everbody knows who and what he is!

  • I watch videos for enjoyment, you are just looking for attention for yourself because you cant get it any other way. I feel so sorry for who you must be in life However this is my last reply to you because; you are a very disturbed social miscreant THE END

  • sarahsrnb.. i don't recall asking you to respond to my comments.. apparently you feel compelled to do so, what's more surprising is the level of negativity you ex-spell because someone has a different opinion about a particular artists performance than your own. Resorting to personal attacks about the way i look... really silly on your part. you don't know what I look like & what difference would it make anyway? if your not mature enough to hear others opinions find another site to troll.

  • nice performance.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ yurherenow your comments are silly borderline stupid- you can't tell adult people what type of singing they should like...You are nothing but you love Diana Ross and don't know how to respect that love or your own self - you suck there fago!
