Nintendo has a few problems that they will NEVER get rid of:
1. They think that no matter HOW little information they allow to be given, multiplayer will get kids in danger and therefore get Nintendo sued. Of course, kids get in danger online quite often, but this is just an overreaction...
2. They put NO effort into stories. NONE.
3. They put tedious minigames and luck based things in games, and make games that are based upon ONLY that. That really, REALLY sucks!

Mw3 got 9.5 of 10, but that game WAS really good in many other critic's opinion, and just because they had one game rated higher than what some consider it's competition doesn't mean it's biased.
And look when I see a review on a Wii game, and then get online as an issue then you can get me mad. these people don't have a good Wii online connection
@janfeyen9 k first off, i think we can all agree that online is NOT wii's strength, and they don't put much effort into it. next, i looked at some other shooters. mass effect 2 got 9.6 (rated higher than every cod game) and halo reach got 9.5 (the same as cod mw2) and halo odst got 9.0 which is the same as mw3, and higher than blackops.
I know, the Wii doesn't like Online so much, but still there sre games on Wii that play as smooth as butter. And when I'm talking about FPS, look at the unknown ones. But I really just think that IGN hates the Wii controls. the whole CoD thing, I kinda just think IGN lves the CoD formula too much, and rather play FPS's instead of some original games like Zack and Wiki Barbaros's Treasure

this game has no reason to exist, there is barely anything new, only 4player co-op making the a signifigant impact, which is perfect if you find yourself short of 3 freinds, and the powerups also come out in a way that there is one player that takes all the powerups, one that will run ahead and take all the lives and, another who will go home with so many feet up their ass they will cough up shoes. I'm not afraid to say i'm NOT into COD or Halo or any fps, (except bioshock). Different strokes for different folks. I prefer games similar to those I grew up with like Mario or Metal gear. In the immortal words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"

The reason you can only be those 4 characters is because you are already trying to rescue peach, bowser and baby bowsers are your enemies and yoshi is basically an upgrade. @2rok334 Innovation is done by not playing it safe. Playing it safe means they didn't try to make any major changes and just went with a game that can be fun but pretty standard. You want an example of games playing it safe? Look at MW3 and LFD2, they didn't make any major changes. At least they could have made Toad and Toadette playable rather than 2 generics. The game is fun, don't get me wrong but its nothing special like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario 3D Land.
So, according to Craig, going back to the series' roots is a step backward? To me, it's a step forward. He needs to understand, this game is meant for 2D fans, not 3D ones.

You know what, this game should have scored lower, after I bought this game, i've played other platformers: Mario Galaxy 2, DKC returns, kirby's return to dreamland, Wario Land Shake it, lost in shadow, Rayman Origins, Sonic Generations, and last but not least, Mario 3d land. After playing those games, coming back to this was extremely difficult, this game captures mario, but the attempt truly feels uninspired and lazy at some points. BTW, I still play and enjoy many mario classic like SMW
I am a mario fan, and a CoD Fan... But I like mario a bit more. I think Mario games would be the best if you could play with other people in the world, After I got done getting every star coin and unlocking everything in the game.. I just put it in the corner and it just sits there waiting 5 years for me to forget everything and re play but when I play CoD Its a different experiance everytime. No. No online multiplayer. Why not make more games LOCAL multiplayer? I wanna sit next to some friends and just play some videogames with people I know won't scream when I'm unable to headshot 3 men while simultaniously doing a 360 jump of a building through a space rift that I made with my other gun during that same jump. For me its ALWAYS the single player experience that draws me to a game. Multiplayer is good but why is the "local"option dying out? Meeting people is cool but most of the time I just want to jump in with a few friends who are over for a bit.
Did not like this one that much. There wasn´t just enough imagination in these levels. Donkey Kong returns is far better and not to mention the Mario Galaxy games.

I had gotten this game with my Wii and my friend and I beat the snot out of it. ^^ It was fun and enjoyable. Everyone is so picky about games nowadays. Games are meant to be fun, and this game is Some of the new games now are a long chore and it gets old actually. ^^;. You don't always need to throw lame internet stuff into games to make them good ^^; This game is a blast from the past to those who grew up with Super Mario games.
e multiplayer feature is great, playing with my friends and see their faces when we try to sabotage each other or take all the items and leaving nothing to the others is hilarious. it would not be the same online, it would be more annoying than fun
when you review a game, you just talk about that game. You can't compare it to other games like galaxy and all stars because this game is its own game!

If you read a book or watch a movie that's a sequel, you always have to compare it to the original. Innovation and originality are factors in how good a game is, that's part of the reason call of duty games have lost popularity recently.

Would you rather they played it safe and made great game or didn't play it safe and made a shitty one? Who would you rather play as other than luigi and two toads? The reason you can only be those 4 characters is because you are already trying to rescue peach, bowser and baby bowsers are your enemies and yoshi is basically an upgrade. @2rok334 Innovation is done by not playing it safe. Playing it safe means they didn't try to make any major changes and just went with a game that can be fun but pretty standard. You want an example of games playing it safe? Look at MW3 and LFD2, they didn't make any major changes. At least they could have made Toad and Toadette playable rather than 2 generics. The game is fun, don't get me wrong but its nothing special like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario 3D Land.

So, according to Craig, going back to the series' roots is a step backward? To me, it's a step forward. He needs to understand, this game is meant for 2D fans, not 3D ones.
"Any other developer making such a high-profile multiplayer game on any other console"--stop right there! "any other console" is the important part. We're talking about the Wii, here. It doesn't have advanced online capabilities. Adding online to a Wii game requires tons of time & effort, unlike PS3/360/PC games.

You know what, this game should have scored lower, after I bought this game, i've played other platformers: Mario Galaxy 2, DKC returns, kirby's return to dreamland, Wario Land Shake it, lost in shadow, Rayman Origins, Sonic Generations, and last but not least, Mario 3d land. After playing those games, coming back to this was extremely difficult, this game captures mario, but the attempt truly feels uninspired and lazy at some points. BTW, I still play and enjoy many mario classic like SMW

I am a mario fan, and a CoD Fan... But I like mario a bit more. I think Mario games would be the best if you could play with other people in the world, After I got done getting every star coin and unlocking everything in the game.. I just put it in the corner and it just sits there waiting 5 years for me to forget everything and re play but when I play CoD Its a different experiance everytime. Nintendo you need to add Online modes.

However, I agree that this review is kinda unfair because Mario doesn't need online multiplayer. Instead they should be happy that local multiplayer even exists.

I wanna sit next to some friends and just play some videogames with people I know won't scream when I'm unable to headshot 3 men while simultaniously doing a 360 jump of a building through a space rift that I made with my other gun during that same jump. Did not like this one that much. There wasn´t just enough imagination in these levels. Donkey Kong returns is far better and not to mention the Mario Galaxy games.

I had gotten this game with my Wii and my friend and I beat the snot out of it. ^^ It was fun and enjoyable. Everyone is so picky about games nowadays. Games are meant to be fun, and this game is Some of the new games now are a long chore and it gets old actually. ^^;. You don't always need to throw lame internet stuff into games to make them good ^^; This game is a blast from the past to those who grew up with Super Mario games.

@BrianThomass Well if he took your advice and just reviewed games regardless of other similar titles, no one would ever be able to say that a game is the best of the series, it's genre, or other. If you read a book or watch a movie that's a sequel, you always have to compare it to the original. Innovation and originality are factors in how good a game is, that's part of the reason call of duty games have lost popularity recently.
