Damn this dude got old. He was never married and some actually rumored that alls he really loved was UrANUS!
Either way, our school took us to the Space Transit Planetarium where he did a show based on the Jupiter Effect which was supposed to cause destruction around the world due to planetary allignment.
every week since i was a child i would watch this man and he was the inspiration for my dreams about the starry night sky. RIP Jack. I'll keep looking up and hopefully see you in the sky
Horkheimer died at his Florida home on the morning of August 20, 2010 at the age of 72.[4] His death was related to the respiratory ailment that he suffered from since childhood.
Jack is now able to touch those stars and planets he proudly taught us about all these years. May his spirit venture throughout the cosmos. Requiescat in Pace.
This show brings back memories of when I was a kid, I heard old Jack passed away today, he will be missed. That was quite an impressive display of athleticism at 4:10 though.
He was on our local PBS affiliate in TN., I had no idea what happened to him when the affiliate changed its programming around. Brings back memories of the 80's.
i actually went to the Miami space planetarium and i saw jack in person! he's a pretty cool guy, he gave me a free book and a star chart from star hustler!
this music has psychedelic effect on my memory....transforms me back to a fifteen year old on saturday night south dakota public tv....I want to scream with ecstasy
Youtube needs to put Jack in their science section and compile his programs. Write Youtube and see if they will do this. I love his show. I am glad to have found Jack's program. This is incredible!
Next week on "Star Gazer", Jack Horkheimer turns the telescope around, and scares the bejeezus out of everyone by showing the black hole that is his atrocious toupee.
I used to watch Jack every Sat/Sun night on PBS out of Wilkes-Barre.......just after the Red Green show. I miss it terribly now that they stopped broadcasting it.
I agree, no matter what he looks like or if we even care what the hell is his sexual orientation is; JACK HORKHEIMER IS AWESOME!!!!! At least you can say this-- compared with the still immortal Stephen Hawking and the late great Carl Sagan, Jack Horkheimer has a very human and very cool personality about him!
Sometimes I think Astronomers just get off on figuring out how many planets can fit inside a star, and making unit conversions

Dear folks, this is Reid Welch writing. I met Jack Horkheimer back in the late seventies
(about 1979) through Frank Cooper (who is yet alive as far as I know)
Frank or others still alive from my earlier years will verify:
I alienate almost everyone as a matter of course,
for I don't like to see people get hurt, ever.
Comprende, now? Yes. All can be saved, and will be saved.

They should post more episodes of Jack on youtube in memory of his passing.

Arabesque by Isao Tomita on the album, Snowflakes are Dancing.
Isao was quite the pioneer of synthesizer music dwarfed only by Moog and on par with Stevie Wonder.
