@SMMusicSM yes i did! I am very fond of the music on that show, and have become a big fan of the composer - Steve Jablonsky. But, most of the other music I synthesized myself with the help of some music students.
@jallcowasji what did u get if i may ask and what year and what country?? :P im in czech republic and have a predicted 7 graduating this year.. :P just wondering what ur movie got
@Velk3 hey i had a predicted 7 too, but then got a 6. The IB grading is quite messed up, and I'm not just saying that because I got a 6. Our batch randomly got much lower grades than previous batches, though most of the work was ironically much better. So, whatever your grade, don't take it too seriously. The predicted grade is the most accurate rep of your abilities/achievements, so congrats!
@Velk3 just developed a steady hand...but i do have this trick - you put the camera on a tripod, hold 2 of the three legs near your waist, and let it dangle horizontally in front of you...it lowers the center of gravity and thus helps to stabilize the camera to some degree.... my dream however is to invest in a steadicam... specifically the "STEADICAM MERLIN."
Okay so a given is that some of the dialogue was campy, but I mean at the age you made this... what dialogue isn't campy? Even VFS and their shorts have terrible dialogue. However, I was very impressed with your shot selection. You chose very nice shots to portray the emotions and feelings you wanted despite any short comings of the script; your film language was beautiful. One last thing, the girl in it was very hot... lol (I am 18 so don't judge)
@ArhV5 thanks! yeah i was 17 when i made this film, and being an aspiring cinematographer, dialogue was unfortunately never a major concern in my mind (BIG mistake). And don't worry, am not judging :D
I really love this film. I almost moved to India and this would have been the school That i attended. Thank goodness my own school had IB FiIm. Check mine out sometime.
I didn't like it, not enough sex or explosions, no computerized animation of space creatures, and not one single dinosaur. I was hoping to see this girl naked at some point but noooooo
@wendyleewanyi yes school did offer a camera, and since I left I believe they have updated their equipment. But, I used my own camera. It just made it a lot easier for me because I didn't have to keep signing a camera out and returning it again and again.
Speaking on constraints on storyline, watch my film. I made it last year for year 11 IB Film suspense piece. It isnt as good as this, but Im hoping my final piece will be alright. By the way, you nailed suspense in this film much more than I did.
Okay, I agree with laker09 in that you seemed preoccupied with your cinematographic execution and displaying your filming abilities, which can be a little annoying (when she walks up to the door and covers the camera while pushing it open), but these things can be seen as stylistic decisions as well, and i respect that. As an IB student I can say I fully understand the pressures and constraints that are placed on you in your final year and, with that in mind, this is a brilliant film.
@thenoirkid thanks a lot! I understand what you mean about the door thing. It is very cliché. So many of these decision were so spontaneous, and now when I look back at them, I don't know what I was thinking! But I'm still proud of the film :P
none!!! all the motion shots are free hand. in the running scene i used a tripod and i let it dangle in front of me...it kind of smoothens out the motion.
I thought that was awful, you have a very high production value that wasn't utilized due to a flimsy script. I'm assuming this is supposed to be horror but you clearly don't grasp the horror conventions, it could've been powerful with a higher use of fate and deception through better camera work.
It looks good, but understanding film changes perception. You seemed less occupied with the film as opposed to just making the techniques stand out, which was poor.
Thank you so much for your CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. In part, I really do have to agree with you. Yes, the script wasn't great..a lot of it was last minute work. And, i realize that the film looks better than the content, and that's because I am more inclined towards cinematography, and I admit that I let didn't pay enough attention to the narrative.
No offense, I was trying to propose the latter of the criticism. The cinematography was good, technique wise. Editing was probably the strongest, but it wasn't very meaningful.
wow this was really amazing! i loved a number of the shots such as the pencil and the unpacking scene and all that. very original and the ending is open to interpretation? very amazing and creative!
hey! So i'm in IB film this year and i love your video...i'm in the planning stage right now but after watching your video i know i've got to make it really good. =)
So did you ever get a grade or anything for this? Cause this looks like an A to me..lol I'm just wondering how tough they are going to grade us.
Jall's movie was by far the best in our year and the previous ones. You cannot really predict the grading though. The year before us was graded pretty mildly while in our year -though our movies were not worse- we got worse grading. Planning your movie helps so much, I got pneumonia while we had to shoot this movie and while I had to shoot my own. The more you plan it in advance, the better you can make up for whatever will go wrong.
Hi!. I´m a film teacher from Colombia. My name is Mauricio Romero. I´m glad to see this kind of productions. Congratulations. As someone´s said, it´s an excelllent help for me and my students. We´re gonna share some of our products and shortflims. This year is our first on the IB film experience. Good lock!!!
Like it in general, Love the desperate housewivesy beggining the walk hmm no so much, check out mine... it´s called scrabble and it´s in channel "Jrosas24"
Great film! I am amazed at the kind of shots you have taken. The angles and the lighting is breathtaking. And the neck thing really sent a chill down my spine. Well done! Keep making more please.
haha...yeah...I never thought I would either! But quite a few people have been asking me to do this! So decided to overcome my fears, n just DO IT!! :)
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

Were you allowed to upload this? I mean, you sign a contract saying your film is the IB's property, so I was wondering...
Anyway, nice directing.

@ShutUpNtellMe Well to be honest I didn't take any of that into consideration! Just wanted some of my friends to see it.

@jallcowasji No, I read the contract. IB is allowed to use it, but it's your property, you can do whatever you want with it.

Panasonic NV GS 330. It's a very basic SD camera...but it has a nice lens and great DOP capabilities for its price.
