  • omg ! first let me say your white koi gorgeous! love him ! and love the pond as well your koi made me laugh when he nibbled your fingers lol i have a small 50 gallon with comet goldfish in it i enjoy it very much hoping in maybe 3 yrs or so to upgrade to an 800 gallon inground stock tank pond with lots of water lilies

  • @grdndiva2001 Thank you for your nice comments! My large white koi is quite a character :) When you upgrade your pond, try to make it as large as possible. Believe it or not, I find that my larger pond is much easier to take care of instead of the smaller 150 gallon one that I had in the past.

  • your white koi fish is an angel

  • Your white butterfly koi is so beautiful. Hope he/she lives for another 50 years or so. What a magnificent fish.

  • @tim818 Thank you very much! Yes, I certainly hope that the butterfly koi lives a very long and healthy life! Hmmm, another 50 years? I hope that my son will be willing to take care of him, LOL!

  • Also the size of koi depends on the size of the pond there in and the amount of other fish in it. If you have a large pond with only a few fish in, then they will grow to there full size, if the pond is smaller or has more fish then there will be less space for them to grow large. Also some varieties of koi grow larger and faster than other varieties.

  • Beautiful pond you got there and the white butter fly koi too

  • @commonSagitario Thank you very much. That butterfly koi is our pride and joy!!

  • thats a realy cool koi i had a orange butterfly koi it was about 7 inch but it die

  • the big butterfly koi is king lol jk i have a butterfly koi hes in a tank thats too small and im trying to get him/her a new tank......and i have more fishes in that same small tank

  • i must say, thats a beautiful ki you have there!

  • Well, thank you very much! That white butterfly koi is about 16 years old now.

  • now that is a nice koi fish the white one.

  • This is so amazing! Great effort and work you put in there! I myself have a small pond but it keeps the stress away. I almost can't believe your fantastic old butterflyKoi! I have a mixture of goldfish shubunkins and longtailed and finned goldfish. They mixed lol ;) Also I have 3 frogs that mated. I don't know if they are bullfrogs, they are darkbrown and large, but not as large as a real adult bullfrog. They seem to wander around though.. Ponds are great to relax and add a lot to your garden.:D

  • Thank you so much! I like your pond also =D I agree, ponds are a great way to relax next to. I do like to work around the pond gardening and I can't wait for the warmer weather! Even though it has only been around 50 degrees, I already saw about 9 frogs sitting out in the sun.

  • Your pond is just gorgeous...as are the frogs and fish. Thank you for sharing it.

  • Thank you so much for your nice comment, I appreciate it =D

  • Wow what a beautiful pond and that butterfly koi is amazing.

  • Thank you so much. My butterfly koi just keeps growing and growing! It is a lot of fun feeding him/her out of my hand.

  • Thank you for the nice comment!

  • without a single doubt, the first frog u showed was a green frog, not a bullfrog

  • cooollll........ love that platinum butterfly.... very awesome finnage!

  • Thank you very much!

  • That butterfly koi is quite elegant looking! I did enjoy the Frogs too!

    The Pond Digger

  • Thank you! Of course the day after I took the video, there must have been at least 9 more leopard frogs sunning themselves.

  • Beautiful pond! I love the waterfall. Avoid introducing bullfrogs, they are an invasive species and will eat anything they can fit in their mouth and will take over habitat from other frog species. You can "rescue" frog eggs or tadpoles from temporary water that may not last long enough for tadpoles to mature, like storm overflow waterways. Here in SC water hyacinth is banned/illegal because they are too invasive.

  • Thank you very much! I have noticed a lot of frog eggs, but before you know it, they are gone. I assumed that the other fish went after them. But, maybe those bullfrogs??

  • It could be the fish eating the eggs, if you never notice any tadpoles. The bullfrogs definitely will eat the other frogs though.

  • But your pond is big and deep, with alot of cover so it's quite possible you'll never see the tadpoles. If you see little frogs like the leopard guy then some of the eggs/tadpoles are maturing unless you live near woods and other water.

  • Nice pond. That koi looks like a giant betta! It is beautiful!

  • Thank you so much. I'm curious as to how much larger that koi can get!

  • Sometimes koi can get to 6 feet. I don't have koi in my pond because it's too small, but I have 2 black common goldfish and 1 white common goldfish in my pond that I rescued from being feeder fish. I have a video of it, it's pretty cool.

  • @markgilst Actually 6 feet is alittle exaggerated, koi tend to grow to between 3-4 feet long, but weather or not that includes the length of the fins I don't know.

  • Thank you again for the info. I have to take in my hyacinths, too, and will try to winter a few over in a greenhouse. Your pond seems *perfect*!

  • Your pond is gorgeous! And your 15 year old butterfly koi is spectacular! Do you know what the yellow aquatic flowers are? And what kind of frogs? We've been wanting to introduce frogs to our goldfish environment. From the look of your plants you must be in about a zone 8?

  • Your pond is so beautiful! and your 15 year old koi is spectacular! What are the small yellow flowers? And do you know what kind of frogs they are? We're looking for a small frog to introduce to our goldfish environment. From the look of your plants, you must be in about a zone 8?

  • Thank you so much for the nice comments! The frogs in this video are leopard frogs that come to the pond from our woods. We also have bullfrogs (most are huge and loud at night) that I bought as tadpoles from our local pond store. The small lily pad looking plant with the yellow flowers is called floating heart and it is a very hardy (and sometimes invasive) plant. We are in PA, zone 6. Good luck finding your frogs!

  • Thank you for all the good information. I will look for leopard frogs & floating heart. I read bullfrogs would eat fish so didn't get any tadpoles at our nearby lake. You haven't had that problem? Do your water hyacinth's make it through the winters? (sorry I posted first mesage twice by boo boo)

  • Your quite welcome. I haven't had any problems that I know of with the bullfrogs eating any of my fish. My pond is 3 1/2 feet deep and made of natural rock with lots of hiding places for the fish. Our winters can be very cold, so I cannot keep the water hyacinth's in the pond. I only buy one each spring since they grow like crazy!
