  • I know its his personal preference, but he is trying to play smooth, flowing guitar parts on an SG, someone put a Telecaster in that guys hands.

  • @DyingSID666 Agreed!

  • Goddam he's fast on that snare.

  • Love smashing pumpkins, but its so nice to hear jimmy's talent without Billy's doom n gloom vocals over it

  • Love smashing pumpkins, but its so nice to hear jimmy's talent without Billy's doom n gloom vocals over it

  • Jimmy created some of my favorite music with The Complex. One of my favorite CDs of all time. Very under-rated music.

  • Is anyone else obsessed with his snare sound? Or maybe its the man playing it haha.

  • Love the Pumpkins, love JC but I'd like to see another musician in this band. Something to give the sound a little more depth and variation since they're doing instrumental music. Jimmy is a fabulous drummer and the bass player is also very good but the guitarist wouldn't really hold my interest for too long. Just my opinion.

  • He's got some single stroke chops man!

  • This is REALLY cool. I remember seeing (and MIXING) Herb Alexander's off-shoot band LAUNDRY when he took a break from PRIMUS. Sometimes the real talent is behind the kit and not out front....

BTW-Billy Corgan is an excellent musician and songwriter, but if you meet him in person? ASSHOLE!!!!! No wonder JC is doing his own thing!

  • I think his drumming has a nice Billy Cobham feel to it.

  • Better quality here:

drum pad 20th anniversary jimmi chamberlin

  • No current rock drummer can touch him? I love him, but come on man. Ever heard of danny carey?

  • @AriaanBeowulf Danny Carey = overrated

  • no current rock drummer can touch this guy

i wonder what kind of fuzz is on that guitar

  • no current rock drummer can touch this guy

  • Great experimental jazzy breakdown section. love this track. check out my channel

  • @Seagerash That part is quite Joe Satriani - it's cool! Didn't even know Chamberlain was doing his own thing.

  • Epic music. Jimmy has been an insparation to my drumming for awhile. he's so good

  • True inspiration , love the drums, Jimmy is the man...

  • Buck- I heard that him and Billy Mohr (bassist for JCC) are going to back up Gannin Arnold for his live DVD which should be out by December

  • Jimmy rocks!!!!

  • Wow...I love Jimmy's drumming because it always blows me away lol

  • Shit sound but fucking awesome.

  • That album over all was a great album. Really good listen. Put it on sometime and see what I mean. Nice trippy stuff and aggressive stuff and life begins again.

  • goddammit, those toms sound incredible

  • Jimmy is the greatest! He also resembles Clive Owen.

  • i heard that jimmy is going to do another complex record a few months ago. anyone here anything new on that? any touring plans at all, would love to see him play live.

  • Jimmy is awesome, I love this whole record!

  • Jimmy is just the best drummer ever.

  • Great music. This is drumming 101 though. It's very tasty. JC has very good chops. All in all great music and solid drumming.

  • jimmy's being a jazz-rooted drummer is what makes him so far better than the other stars.

  • @TBRodd

I agree. Jazz drummers are usually the best. I'm appalled that guys like Art Blakey are never mentioned in "Greatest Drummer" polls. All the rock greats like Neil Pert and John Bonham took inspiration from guys like Buddy Rich.

  • @TBRodd yeah man! jazz rules!! all other music sucks!

  • Jimmy has more chops then a swamp logger!

  • this is fucking awesome beautiful music!!

  • This is boring. But JC is awesome as always.

  • R U HIGH This is a far cry from boring. This song sounds like the pumkins which makes my theory all that easier to believe. Jimmy was and is the PUMPKINS sound. Not Billy, although he is a huge part of it.

  • @idrum4jesus2 I agree with you this is a FAR cry from boring. However I will disagree with you on Jimmy being the biggest part of the Pumpkins sound. It seems to me like all 4 contributed pretty equally to the Pumpkins sound.

Even when D'arcy left and was replaced by Melissa, there was quite an audible difference in the live shows.

(that's also why zeitgeist sounds ridiculously different to Gish-Machina, all 4 are quintessential)

  • @dylan9236

I'd say Jimmy was a big part of SP, but it's totally untrue that the band split the work equally. I mean, Billy and Jimmy recorded all of Siamese Dream by themselves. All that stuff you hear on the album, that's just two guys overlaying things.

Iha and Wretzy wrote some songs, but for the most part, Billy controlled the musical direction.

Jimmy was a big part cuz Billy can't really control the drumming since he's not a drummer. And Jimmy brought his distinctive jazz style.

  • @thisxgreatxdecay Yeah I didn't really mean the work, I know Billy was/is a bit of a control freak in the studio ha ha (although it seemed to produce great results, didn't it?)

I more meant the sound, which though as you say would have been controlled by Billy, he would have been strongly influenced by his interactions with James and Darcy, if not musically then socially. Although I do see your point, because I don't know that the extent of their influence would have been 50%

  • @dylan9236

True, neither of us could ever know just how much was contributed by each member artistically. We weren't there. But whoever made it, it's damn good music!

  • JCC made an absolute incredible album! love him since I was 8!

  • Honestly, I'm glad he split with the new Pumpkins. I hope he gets back to doing this stuff. It's way better than that Zeitgeist shit.

  • Favorite drummer. By far. This video eminently displays why.

  • that bass, and the playing, is amazing.

This stuff is way better then I expected.

  • pumpkins made him happier. he sounds so dragged out by himself. its good drumming but overall pretty lame and stale, just sound. There are no lyrics that command the army of fans to flock. fly back to the pumpkins jimmy, fly back!!

  • Es increíble Jimmy, los detalles que logra, la rapidez, el peso, el groove, realmente es un baterista para dejarse influenciar.

Este proyecto es uno de los mejores discos que he escuchado. lo recomiendo

  • Jimmy is on the same level as Neil Pert, in fact the whole band has a kind of Rush vibe to it. I could almost hear some Frank Zappa feel in there

    as well.

  • Jimmy is better than Neil Peart by far.

  • Peart was an innovator. Jimmy would be embarrassed if you said your comment to him.

Why are you even comparing? Either you're not a drummer, or you're a useless drummer.

  • How was a peart an innovator lollllll

  • @ins7777

Explain. I'm interested. What did he do to innovate?

  • @OwrKeeng while you have the right t your opinion, its truly comparing "appels and oranjes". Chamberlin was inspired by soo many different drummers including Peart but he is by all respects a jazz drummer. its too hard to compare their styles. Jimmy is my favourite drummer, but yu can't just flat out say he's better than Peart.

  • @jdawg1692 Yes you can ;D

  • Yes I can.

  • anyone know if there are any albums of his solo stuff?

  • My favorite groove drummer. Best rolls. Love this guy.

  • Wow - and who says Heroin is for losers..

  • he's absolutely effortless in his speed, rolls, style everything.

  • piece from 1:05 to 1:15... it's so heavy! amazing...

  • THIS SONG REMINDS ME OF QUIET!!

  • Awesome Jimmy as always. I thought the bassists playing was very much like jaco pastorius', which is always a treat :)

  • They should definitely make another album, but put more thought into it, the myspace says it took 'em 10 days, what would a few months sound like?

  • Im nt absolutely diggin this, but it still better than shitgeist

  • I loved Zeitgeist, I thought it was a badass album with good music. Comprehend that.

  • I will, as everyone is entitled to their own opinion - not in the mood to start a pointless flame war

  • Lol I underestimated you. I assumed you were just a cock who didn't even realize what an opinion was. Well I guess thanks for not being an idiot.

  • lol no thank you for not being an idiot - maybe we should team up and spread the love :D

  • most definently. But how?

  • i dunno we could possibly team up and stop any flame war with some common sense and maybe eventually increase in numbers to stop the console war and Metal vs Rap war. We may even obtain a nobel peace prize by earning it unlike obama lol

  • Jimmy should've replaced Bill Bruford in King Crimson

  • Now that would have been epic.

  • i think thats billy on the guitar but i could be wrong eh well

  • It's interesting to me that with time, the impact and style of the Pumpkins is more clearly seen. They really created a sub-genre in rock that has yet to be populated by anyone else. You can really see it in the way that both Jimmy and Corgan seem to have kept searching for the sound that they created, yet never quite finding it again. May be why the Pumpkins have never been able to truly reform - that sound was one of a kind. I can't wait to hear the bands who follow in their footsteps!

  • wicked drummer

  • This was the Drumpad show? WOW. It's sounds a lot better than it did there. I really enjoyed that whole gig. The best of the best played. I saw them play the Field Musem gig, too, and the acoustics there were perfect.

  • Everything about this is cool. Love the song. Love the energy. The drums sound amazing. Dig it!!!

  • 6:33 what are some of those effects?

  • i was there, this is at the drumpads 20th anniversery

  • His drums sound well tasty

  • This reminds me alot of the Pumpkins. Jimmys amazing!

  • Jimmy is the drummer!!!

  • amazing, definatley the best "as far as im concerned"

  • A true master of all styles, he plays with

    supreme confidence and charisma..

  • In my humble opinion, JC is one of the most innovative drummers in the last 20 years - he always comes up with real mad stuff that no one else does - great drummer :)

  • man CAN play a drum roll. Holy Fk!!!!

  • the most under rated drummer in the world

  • The first riff is basically "Quiet" by the Smashing Pumpkins.. that said Jimmy's drumming is amazing. Playing with him would be unbeatable.

  • Danny carey and jimmy two of the greatests drummers in the universe

  • u sir are a genius

  • Amen!!

  • im seeing more and more of these things on the front of bass drums. what is it,some kind of speaker/woofer??

  • The one he has in front of his bassdrum is called yamaha subkick - it is a micing technique from the early 70`s or something. A speaker used as microphone.

  • as thetrainthetrain said it's the Yamaha Subkick which is a low frequency capture device that can capture low end. I've seen them used live and they really do help capture that low end better than a standard microphone.

  • when they come out of that sick ass drum roll to the guitar riff is some sick shit

my only complaint is to turn up the guitar volume, I know JC is the man but a little balance is always good

JC and GB are my favorites ever

  • wow

  • that bass player is the man, as is jimmy of course

  • its jimmy's band, and that bass player is lucky to be chosen by jimmy the great

  • everyone needs to get The Jimmy Complex album.......its 50 times better than Zeitgeist

  • Thank U 4 introducing me to this artist.

I dig fusion please chk my vids of " Critters Buggin"

  • Jimmy is the reason i play drums

  • he has really fast hands...my inspiration

  • Jimmy Chamberlin is to be admired!

  • Jimmy Chamberlin = awsome drummer

jimi hendrix = awesome fukin guitarist

  • i'm gonna be as good as jimmy one day

  • Good pick! Set the bar high, you can make it.

  • as is my goal.... practice the first page of the "Stick Control" book....

  • The ultimate source for young/new drummers... very old but still great!

  • is just me, or sound like CHERUB ROCK

    FUCKING SALIERI

    but is a good drummer

  • Cherub rock? I dont hear it. no way jose.

  • fuckin awesome drummer.........

    billys fucked

  • well, no more reasons for me to care about the smashing pumpkins...

  • does anyone know why he left? he will be missed he's an awesome drummer

  • Jimmy has leaved Smashing Pumpkins

  • sorry?

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • Jimmy is awesome!

Reminds me a bit (Just a bit) the Scot Henderson, Victor Wooten & Steve Smith first album. I think they were called "The Vital Tech Tones".

  • Yes! look up their second album its just as good. Favorite song by them is King twang. That is crazy.

  • Totally dude!

  • jimmy is a legend anyone who thinks otherwise is gay like usa1watchdog

  • i think he is more then a legend, so im not gay!

but jimmmys not dead, can you be a legend if your not dead???

  • Inspirational is the word I'd use to describe his drumming.

  • You should buy a copy and maybe hooked on phonics also.

  • ok homer ya gay bastard!

  • Yo,1watchdog,I know you hate Jimmy Chamberlin, and imma let you finish, but LIFE BEGINS AGAIN IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIME!

JIMMY CHAMBERLIN FTW! He's an amazing drummer,an inspiration for my drumming.

  • wow.....its beautiful

anyone know any more artists like this?/?

i love this whole rock/jazz kinda stuff....

  • Yeah, go listen to soem Frank Zappa

  • Listen to Bella Fleck.

  • What about Phil Rudd then, his drum beat are so perfect for what is being played and he will add slight fill will everything else has had their go! Phil is a ledgend..

But there is no real way to tell, who the best drummer is, everyone has different taste and thats what makes drumming so fun and creative!

  • What makes Jimi special isn't technical... there are faster drummers out there. What makes Jimi one of the greatest drummers who ever lived is that he mixes complex parts that nevertheless fit perfectly with the songs and never get in the way of the other instruments or get 'show-offy". This guy is not only technically outstanding, he has that more intangible thing called "musicality" in spades. That's what puts him over the run-of-the-mill virtuosi out there.

  • Plus: it just looks so damn easy when jimmy does this real hard shit ^^

    !

  • jimmy totally kicks ass on drums!

  • jimmy was great but what were those other two doing? not a fan. im glad jimmy ditched these kids for the good ol' pumpkins

  • he still plays with these guys

  • life begins again is one of my all time fav albums. Kudos to Jimmy, what a guy.

Why is there not more of this bands songs on youtube???(tracks from the album)

Is there ever going to be another album?

  • So much power, finesse, feel, and musicality in one man.

Jimmy is one of the reasons I (try hard to) play the drums. Him and Steve Gadd, Bernard Purdie, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Jeff Porcaro (RIP) will forever be my drumming first five.

(Chad Gracey is my 6th man hehe.)

Dammit, now I gotta wake up the neighbors and hit those drums. Jimmy got me amped and inspired.

    God Bless you, Jimmy.

  • What Album has Rowen Robertson on it?

  • Danny Carey and Jimmy Chamberlin = 2 of the best drummers of all time!

    insane skill and precision.

  • My two personal favorites (though Gadd finds his way in there a lot also).

  • this is a best drummer!!!

  • i think jimmy still plays with these guys...

  • hey guys don't take this the wrong way. i'm a big jimmy chamberlin/smashing pumpkins fan but hell, the guitar riffs suck. sorry jimmy.

  • wtf. fuck the pumpkins 'reunion', Jimmy should've kept it together with these guys. insane drummer, awesome music.

  • Jimmy is a beast at drums. So much power yet with so much finesse.

  • he makes this look so easy it's not even funny! At tne moment my favorite drummer.

  • jimmy is genius its all i have to say

  • extremely fast and fluid yet technically relax and compose..

  • this is great! I love this so much!!

  • He can drum like a God and chew gum at the same time.

  • Wow. He's gotten pretty old. But he rocks like a madman.

  • gh4 needs to add a high to the drums just so we can play some pumpkins and anything else jimmy has given his godly touch.

  • The whole thing was great, but the drums were the best part of this video

  • Grande Jimmy per me è stato sempre il n°1.

  • insane...

  • I dont need to say nothing, your comment says for itself. -> You dont know anything about music.

  • ur right he got no clue :P

  • i come back to this song when i need some thing beautiful relaxing calming...this man jimmy and his drumming has inspired me to pick up the drums.

    beautiful!!

  • the speakers arnet supposed to be loud dip shit

  • this is pretty sweet song

  • silky snare hes speed is unreal does it with ease buddy rich and jimmy chamberlin snare roll off?? buddy might just take it! not by much!!

  • that drum roll in the beginning was awesome

  • so much speed and control, amazing.

  • wow...that guys a really good bassist

  • wow...that guys a really good bassist

  • why would'nt any of 'em us jimmy's stuff? he's so damn good

  • sound quality is very poor here, any chance you can b33f up the volume?

  • get louder speakers.

  • Oh and wikipedia also says that for 2006-2007 he's used for the most part the Jimmy Chamberlin Signature model. He also switches to a Pearl Sensitone, I think brass.

  • im not being mean or rude but the sensitone snare is steel.

  • They also make a brass sensitone.

  • If so I stand corrected I will check it out.
