Offcourse, Here in norway we have healthcare for everyone, and one of the best there is too. If you have a special condition that we dont have the capabilities to cure within our country, all expenses of having operations abroad is covered. But oh, do we complain. I live in Belgium. I don't even know how much I pay for health insurance per year. But think not very much cuz otherwise I would already know it. Last year I got my appendix removed. I stayed 5 days in hospital. Paid like... 40 euros at most.

the percentage of income that is subject to the income tax is only like 60% of income so the first 40% is exempt. many times that is more than $9K. After that we get a standard deduction of I believe $10K so tax rates are much lower here. I'm not sure this is exact, but the point is we pay less taxes as a % of income that almost all industrialized countries. that's why we are so prosperous as a nation. you can look up a list of marginal tax rates on wikipedia and see where your country ranks.

Offcourse, Here in norway we have healthcare for everyone, and one of the best there is too. If you have a special condition that we dont have the capabilities to cure within our country, all expenses of having operations abroad is covered. But oh, do we complain. In socialized medicine, more people get taken care of guarenteed than in the US. Here, you pay insurance and it's not a guarentee to get help AND you have to pay MORE from your pocket! And in France they get paid higher than any of us so they can live good lives, afford taxes etc. And the middle class live a grand life! You're wrong, I went to Canada once and unfortunately got sick, everything was free. Why can't you admit the fact that our system of health is far worse than ever?

Romney is such a tool. Subsidizing insurance companies is an insane idea. Who stops them from simply raising the rates? Insurance accounts for 30% of heath-care costs. Plus we can all still pay absurd amounts for prescription drugs while other single-payer countries negotiate low costs.

I'm not 100 % against private enterprise but certain things should not be free game. Health and education are not to be looked at as purely a means for profit. If you lose sleep about possibly helping a desperately ill person then just admit it loud: "I am selfish. I do not care about fellow human beings." That's it. That's the kind of person you are and if there are many of you where you come from, don't talk the crap about your country being great and generous. Talk is cheap.

I am from Canada and I make over a $100,000 per year and am in the highest tax bracket of Canadians. I pay 30% of my wages in taxes. I don't know where you got you 80% figure from. I do not have to pay for any visits to the doctor or hospital at any time for any reason, ever. The truth of the matter is that overall per capita medical costs in Canada are substantially cheaper than in the U.S..

His plan, as doctors predicted, has failed miserably because it isn't single payer. He did nothing but force people to buy private insurance and subsidizes the private insurance with tax dollars! This isn't the way to address the problem of cost. You have to get rid of the private insurance but none of these politicans want to take on the insurance lobby or lose their donations. Your health care, paid for by someone else, is not a natural right...it is a "wish". The US does NOT have a free market health care system. 45 cents on the dollar spent on health care in the US is spent by the government. More importantly, the government heavily regulates and taxes health care. Single payer is a bad idea. The answer is get the government OUT. The real issue is helping the poor. We can do that without government involvement.

I live in Belgium. I don't even know how much I pay for health insurance per year. But think not very much cuz otherwise I would already know it. Last year I got my appendix removed. I stayed 5 days in hospital. Paid like... 40 euros at most.
