  • This is why I think people shouldnt be labeled based off of what we look like. People have a innate impluse to categorize people and put them into boxes before we get to know one another. Race is just a system made to enforce social stigmas and perpetuate stereotypical views of groups of people that "look alike". So people can say Blacks do this, Whites do that. Why cant we be called AMERICANS and AFRICANS and MEXICANS and ITALIANS etc Everyone from the same country should be labeled as one.

  • you are african american, black is a color not a race. you are african

  • Omg this lady is fucking retarded..

  • what we call ourselves is a personal choice the problem is when we force labels on others. study the entire earth culture that means all the cultures on the earth. alot of ppl use names and titles 2 place stereotypes and prejudice on others. ie, blacks do this, indians do this, whites do this. when on the real we are non-action action reaction beings & thats it. we create imaginary borders & boundaries & expect everyone 2 live n & under the lines we create because we can be quite small minded.

  • these bodies belongs to the earth. culture is what we choose to live under while we in these bodies.. i am apart of GoodFreeWill culture. none of us chose how our bodies were going to look but its our spirit that is important. being in a body is a blessing. it is our minds, our deeds and actions to ourselves and others that is important. these bodies are empty shells/vessels that our energy possess', we can name these bodies whatever we like but at the end of the dite, inner soul search matters.

  • All of your rationalizing still makes no sense. It's not about geography. So you're Black with a capital "B". That speaks to you not understanding your origin. I could even understand you wanting to be American over BLACK. Black IS a color. We don't go around calling people of other origins "Yellow" or "Tan". Even so called WHITE people are identified as Caucasians or Europeans. My DNA was shipped here by way of Africa. It's why I look the way I do. You too. This is really quite a sad video.

  • ............So it was easy for the division to occur and seperate the human "race" so to speak into smaller races by birth and skin. I could teach you a thing or 6.

  • This clip started out WRONG! Why would you say you're not African American & still call yourself "BLACK!?" You're not black either. You're BROWN. Africa is where civilization BEGAN so naturally they would call themselves African. After that . As people spread out and countries were named others started to classify themselves as where they were FROM because they were ignorant to their original ancestors. They only looked back so far........

  • you are right you are not african american you are a stupid ass american smfh!!!

  • American Blacks and African Blacks may share the same skin complexion ,anatomy and looks but deep inside the two are very different. We should all just be ourselves while respecting each others' differences.

  • I for one agree with you,Im an African born and raised there if I migrated to America and aquired citizenship,it wouldnt make me an American you,on the other hand were born and raised over there which makes you and American who just happens to be of the same race with Black Africans.

  • Everything is designed and set up to suit and to satisfy caucus americans and this is racism in itself..Its bad enough we as americans were stripped of all of our heritage now we are constantly being labeled things that of which we are not.Caucus americans think and say that they are smarter than blacks but their actions say otherwise..But like i stated earlier, caucus americans are no more american than blacks because they came to america just like our ancestors did.

  • From this day forth i am addressing white people as all german americans even if they did not com from germany and caucus americans

  • Another thing..If black is bad and ugly and we are all niggers, prostitutes, animals and ghetto, then why do white people get tans, but and lip injections, thicken up their hair, dance like black people, try to sing like black people and constantly try to out do black people and why do the white men secretly lust after the black woman and why do white women so desperately want sexual relationships with the black man and even white men lust after black men.So why hate what you really want and like

  • I believe that most white people are born and carry the hate gene because i saw a study with kids and every black child said that people should love everyone no matter the color of the skin and every white child said that black is bad and ugly and not once said that you should love everyone no matter the color of the skin..So this told me that white people are filled with hate at birth and only animals think this way.

  • Too me,when i am called a nigger it doesn't hurt me anymore because i look at the people saying it and they are every bit of the meaning of the word. It's like when a person gets mad and calls you a bitch or something to hurt you because they can't hurt you in any other way or when they really feel what they are trying to project onto you because they are just angry and hateful beings..Its funny because they are still using the same old shit from decades ago which tells me they have not grown any

  • I was born here in America so how am i an African..Yes i have African roots, but i also have caucasian roots. If i were born in Africa and then moved here to America well then i would be an African American, but i am not..And as far as me being a nigger then those that are addressing me as one must be a nigger too and anyone with brains knows that the word nigger was a word made up by white racist people that hated people of color.

  • What it is is,white people do not want to acknowledge the truth that we are americans just like they don't want to accept the fact that native americans are not indians.I know as well as anyone else with brains knows that white people are no more americans than we are for that matter. What if we started calling white people caucasian americans or white americans,or honkey americans etc, after all white people did originate from the caucus mountains. The government has distorted everyone with lies.

  • Im a Jew Moor

  • I prefer the term "black" as well. I took a dna ancestry test and it revealed more than African ancestry (wasn't even my dominant ancestry); HOWEVER, I am proud of my African heritage and proud to look African. *smiles*

  • what i wanna know is why are native americans called native americans, hispanics and other nationalities are called aliens or immigrants, and black people are called afro americans but white people are called caucasians. I mean they came to america too,so whats up with this crap and no i am not being prejudice i am just saying. and i am a black american not african.i did not come from africa i was born right here in america so get it right.

  • @tawana844 I'm Cherokee 100%.Native is just a government term for Indian.Means Native to American soil.We were here before they took over...lmao..It's just government shit.I wouldnt read too much into it.Media and Government has kept racism alive all this time.If we would all put our cultural differences aside long enough to point our fingers at them..."government" instead of eachother, could you imagine the force we would be?

  • it sad

  • it sad

  • oh goodness lets focus on more important things, someone is going to find a million reasons why they don't want to be called "african american" and someone else will find a million reasons why they don't want to be called "black" whatever you call yourself love yourself and that's it!

  • another Black idiot lol

  • spot on...

  • hi my friend,,, I have another news for you. according to the colour chart I have in front of me you and me are brown too, who started belling us black? i want to know

  • Im open enough to see some logic in your opinion BUT ... this is bad lol Smh Find yaself Sista

  • I see some of your comments you got. You are sooo right. So right.

  • Lol, i just see ur video, first of all, u got a lot to read about history.i mean black history

and not that u just found ur self born in the u.s.a or perhaps they

should called u American Negroes like the former time, people like

you, can easily change the colour of ur skin to white, latin etc be glad

to be called African America, blacks got no root but Africa better change

the the colour of your skin now,if not, somebody gonna called

    u African by mistake lol

  • I just have to say this... Its Nt about being Black its aboput being free... you were not a slave but your ancestors were. You are african. It is not about birth right only it about you knowing u might be born in the USA but you are originally from african because you are black!x

  • Sister, i can understand wher you nare comming from..But don't let theses people confuse with words.like N etc. it's not your fault neither theirs.it is the ignourance of the leaders in africa..it is time blast the people responsible for all these mess we have being through. that is the african leaders.african american should begin to take active role in african politics..you have the same right in Africa as well.with your driving force, together we the young generation can heal mother Africa.

  • I AGREE!

  • anyone else notice that cute cat @6.19? anyways , I have several black friends , born in the usa, born in africa then moved to the USA, as well as here in africa. I think we agree that if you are US born of some sub-saharan desert decent = Black, a sub-saharan african that becomes a US citizen= African American, I think we americans get TOO focused on political correctness, I spent my honeymoon on the Indian Ocean of the Kenyan Coast, kept calling it "the native american ocean"

  • them application and censor papers be pissing me off on the race box.. they got us as african-american but they got the whites just whites. why can't they just put black..i don't feel American.. i wasn't born in Africa and don't plan on bein in hot ass Africa anytime soon...whats going on

  • sorry but you are talking bullshit... it is a historical fact that black ppl were brought from africa... so only because it was about 200/300 Years ago it doesnt change the fact...You can/should say first of all that you are american but when it comes to details you cant deny you orrigne from africa! just accept the facts and accept your self! Period!

  • your image is so weak can blame you still have slave mentality

  • Comment removed

  • you're a hebrew israelite if you have slave african ancestry. We are not Africans. We ran into africa in 70 AD from the romans who where killing our People. We are the real israelites that were brought into slavery in to the AAmericas. Read deuteronomy 28 and 64 and deuteronomy 28 and 68 and the whole deuteronomy 28 of your bible

  • hey, DreadTinaHistory. I have a question for you? Why do white people call themselves caucasians regardless where they originate from? What is difference between saying white, caucasian, or european american?

  • I don't call myself just African or African american, when people ask me i say i'm Tanzanian and Ethiopian.....which i don't even know my ancestry because my last name is a province in Italy, and Egyptian god, and a place in Chile and also a last name in Chile..

  • That America was even added to the African was to cater for the very fragile and vulnerable pysche of the average AA. For people like J.Lo, Ricky Martin etc they're just LATINO or HISPANIC. Ever heard the term latino-American, NO. The Koreans, Chinese, Arab and Indians are just that. No one goes to get his chow mein from that "Chines-American" restuarant. It does not mnatter is the owner is 4th gen. American. They're just Chinese or koreans. We are the only ones with an American prefix.

  • I have a friend who is Italian. She's never been to Italy but she says she's Italian. She doesn't say I am White. I just think that is so stupid...calling yourself White or Black. They are just colors. Do Chinese call themselves Yellow? LOL. I am just saying. I am going to think on these things. All of this new found information I have been looking up on YT has got me thinking about so much.

  • rather like some Africans are white. They are born and bred there

  • AFRICA is a CONTINENT not a country----i dont mind being called both----but----'mutt' type whites dont use Euro-American

  • @49jubilee You cannot have "Euro-American" because the Irish man knows he's from Ireland. The German-American can even trace his ancestors straight back to Germany. Same goes for the Italians, The Dutch, Swedish etc. Infact their surnames say it all. They know exactly where they originate from. The African Americans dont. All they know is that they are from somewhere in West Africa. For the colonialists ENGLAND would also be the old country, not Europe.

  • The term African American is not a misnomer as you call it. I do agree we shouldn't be labeled as African American because but only because we don't label whites as European Americans, or German Americans; their just whites. We are of African descent. Can't dispute that. And yes being black and being african is two different things, but not in the case of U.S. born blacks because we are all direct descendants of West Africans.

  • So well said. I couldn't have said it any better. I've always been uncomfortable with that term, now especially that so many authentic Africans have migrated to America.

  • @bustadance How low can this inferiority complex be?. "Äuthentic Africans"? What is that ?. What makes one an authentic African. A 3rd generation Nigerian-American boy who probably visits Nigerian at least once a year, is he authentic African or not? AND WHO ARE THE AUTHENTIC AMERICANS. You or the Indians ?. Ponder these questions and give me an answer.

  • @nnaamen 'Inferiority complex'? I don't know how you got that. I believe the term 'African American' was derived from an inferiority complex amongst blacks. This tem was created out of the need to hold onto some identitity, in a country that did'nt appreciate them. White Americans don't call themselves European Americans. For the most part they are proud Americans. The term African American was designed to reclaim an identity for which most blacks have no immediate connection to.

  • Just remain BLACK, like in the colour. You came from West Africa. Whether you know it or not. A victim of deep rooted insecurity. Where you were born has nothing to do with where you originate from. Question : If you bring and African elephant to a zoo in America,is it still an African elephant or an American elephant. same goes for it's offspring. The Specie, the race, the roots never change irrespective of where you're located. YOUR SPECIE IS AFRICAN. I'm african too.

  • @nnaamen Good point.

  • Well said little Sister. I agree. I will be using these points as well. :)

  • Total fiction! No humans are the opposite of another human being. The European color caste system is by design a good and evil construct. Black and white is their invention, it's nonsense. It is by design to demonize dark hued people.

You are programmed to believe in it. It was not created to benefit you.

“Feelings are not supposed to be logical. Dangerous is the man who has rationalized his emotions.” ~David Borenstein

  • YOU speak the TRUTH! :D

  • So many holes in your Argument. Just because you were born in America does not mean you cannot identify with a country or continent. Should Indian Americans be called Brown Americans just bcos they were born here? You have African blood. You cannot run away from that. I think you are trying to hard to dissociate yourself from your African roots.

  • @obinojino Well said.

  • @obinojino

I do not deny my African heritage. But I am not "African", I am German.

Why not let each of us decide how to feel? It is a free world, aint it?

What is "African" anyway? Mere semantics.

  • You have been programmed to dis-connect from any land or sources of Africa. It was needed to steal your history.

  • @moonstar7 Very true.

  • Black

    1. Soiled, as from soot; dirty. 2. Evil; wicked. 3. Cheerless and depressing; gloomy: black thoughts. 4. Being or characterized by morbid or grimly satiric humor: a black comedy. 5. Marked by anger or sullenness: gave me a black look.

  • Great video! I love it when a person tells it like it is.

  • you are not african americans, but you are niggers.....hahahahahah

  • @JANCO761 Its Niggas.. Niggers is corny now or didn't you know that? I can tell you've been in the back woods too long. Come out some time and get with the incrowd, eh? You're welcome.

  • wrong

  • I personally agree with most of what you stated. However, I believe Black or Indian or whatever ethnicity one comes from, we are all Americans. Now, there are circumstances when it's necessary to identify one's ethnicity for demographic studies, census bureau, etc. It's terms like that you mentioned that keep this nation divided, thus, keeping racism well alive. I understand the hardships minorities endured, but in order to move forward as 1 nation, we are all Americans. That's just my 2 cents.

  • Almost none of your facts are right. You say that a white person born in Africa is African....white South Africans are of DUTCH, GERMAN and FRENCH descent. They are not African b/c they are not of African heritage (think genetics here). Just like if I was raised in Japan I can't come to America telling ppl i'm Japanese, maybe Afro-Japanese if I just want to claim the nationality. There is a difference b/w nationality&citizenship and ethnicity. Ethinically u r African. Ur naitonality is American.

  • Your logic is just beyond twisted. So you're saying if a Chinese American is born in the US and has family that has been here several generations (Chinese immigrants arrived in the US in the early 1800's) that they can't call themselves Asian Americans b/c they weren't born in Asia?! So what should they be called..yellow Americans? You rather be associated with the color of your skin which is way more questionable seeing as the term yellow would be offensive and most blacks are actually brown.

  • And I use the term "race" loosely here since that is an anthropologically incorrect term.

  • Just b/c our history has dissolved our knowledge of our precise whereabouts it has not erased our knowledge of the fact that we come from West African heritage. There's no debate about that. Others have mentioned African Americans are not NEARLY as mixed up as we like to think we are. Studying genetics will show that after a certain # of generations our blood is so diluted that claiming ur part Native or white or whatever is silly. BTW Africans are not homogenous either. All races have mixed up.

  • Omgosh enough with the self hate. YOU ARE OF AFRICAN DESCENT. Looking at you, as someone who has travelled throughout Africa, I can say that you look exactly like someone from several West African tribes. Know why? Because that's where you descended from. If someone with Chinese descent tells you they are not Asian American because they've never been to Asia or are not sure exactly what country they come from you and the world would still consider them Asian American.

  • Negro.

  • @kingofpendragon We both got confused there lol. Yeah I'm pure African! That's what I am! And so should every African American embrace, even if their culture is different because all African countries have their own cultures but that doesn't mean we're not African. I don't know why some African Americans think theyre any different. :(

  • @2PAINFULLNIGGA I am African American and would love to call myself just African :)! I don't see why we can't. I am a descendent of Africans so why not!!!! :)

  • @potterylady1 That's beautiful! I love seeing African Americans like you who love their African ancestry. It makes me smile! Haha yeah why not, when people ask me where i'm from i don't even say Morocco i just say Africa. :)

  • @2PAINFULLNIGGA Well you should say Morrocco. The reason our brothers and sisters who were brought over in chains use African American is because they DO NOT know where exactly in Africa they were taken from. There is a huge difference between say a Nigerian-American and an Ethiopian or Somalian American. Africa has about 53 very distinct countries.

  • @nnaamen Yeah i know what you mean. But the reason why i say i'm from Africa is because before white people invaded us, we didn't have countries. We were one big country, Africa. :)

  • African American was a name that was given to us because we fled into West Africa running from the romans. We figured if we blended in with them the romans wouldn't capture us because we were all have dark skin. The Africans sold us into slavery because they already knew that we weren't their people. We are the decendents of the anicent hebrew israelites. We are Hebrews not Africans. Africans, Arabs, and the white man know this. That's why everything about us was erased even our hebrew names.

  • ANY TYPE OF CATEGORIZATION CAUSES SEPARATION. I DONT WANT ANY CATEGORIZATION. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE INDIVIDUALIZATION AND NO CLASSIFICATION. CLASSIFICATION AND CATEGORIZATION IS SEPARATION. THIS IS WHY THE WORLD IS ALWAYS AT WAR AND WILL NEVER GET ALONG

  • I agree with you DreadTina. It would sound absurd if we [whites] started referring to ourselves as European Americans. Black and white, like it or not that's what it is. No need to sugarcoate it

  • Berbers come in Black and White honey. Most North Africans are Berbers, they're not Arab. Arab is something we're forced to believe. IM NOT ARAB! IM PURE AFRICAN! <3

  • Why're u fuckers obsessed with making videos claiming not to be AFRICAN-AMERICANS? Trust me, AFRICANS don't care what u choose 2 call yourselves.. But since, technically, your RACE was created by the Unites States Government, then they can choose 2 call u whatever the fuck they want... Face it, u li'l BITCH, u're part of an INVENTED RACE!! Now, go fetch me a lemonade, u backward NEGRO!!

  • @kingofpendragon I care. I'm African and i live in London. I'm from Morocco, and i fucking care when they say African American cause i'm proud muthafucka! :)

  • @2PAINFULLNIGGA Well, I, on the other hand, couldn't care less what these morons have chosen 2 call themselves...They can call themselves PIG MEN for all I care..And u can go fuck urself, bitch! A Moroccan muthafucka like u hardly speaks for the whole continent!! Eat a dick, faggot!

  • @2PAINFULLNIGGA Pardon me for losing my cool.. U're an AFRICAN, so that means we're "HERMANOS"!! And I like and respect many Black Americans... just not the ones always trying 2 distance themselves from us! Those ones can ROT in HELL for all I care! And I'm being straight up about it... They get no RESPECT!! One love, brother!!

  • i agree with you, you should be called american with no other qualifier. i think you have the right to define yourself as you wish.

  • what the fuck is her point???!!!!!!!

  • Black tells you what your skin color is but it doesn't tell you who you are.

  • @Revolutionary36 if definitely doesn't tell you ur skin color lol..... She has a point truthfully blacks in america have such a diverse background it's not even funny lol

  • @Psalmist100 African Americans don't have much of a "diverse" background like people think we do. That is just wishful thinking on the part of many for taking pride in trying to be anything but African. Therein lies the problem. Too many AA's are more liable to be proud of their non-African lineages than they are their African ones. I know plenty of AA's who don't even know anything about Africa or where they come from in Africa but know everything about Europe. How sad it is.

  • I am glad that you posted this video. Because this thought crossed my mind and some of the topics that you hit on. If most of us wanted to list who we really are we wld claim our Irish, American Indian, white,African and etc just be complicated to display ones history. The obvious is seen when you see me "I am black" but as far as my African roots I am very proud but thats not my culture never been there. So I agree I am black. And the same for some whites claiming whatever...

  • I consider myself African American because if you take test my DNA I am sure that I could be linked to a tribe in Africa.

  • which was not a good point.

  • im from Malawi Africa. light skind blacks are called colords, wile dark skins are just called black.

  • your 1st point is wrong........I look at you and see a direct connection to Africa.

Your average anthropologist would agree also.

  • @4zahra you clearly did not watch or understand her message.

  • @kostel25 clearly you didn't hear her first "point".

  • @DreadTinaHistory i agree i used to call myself african american but then my Bi-racial best friend who is Black/White now he said to me that both he and I are not African. I argued with him but in the end he was right I have African roots like he does and but im not from africa nor have i ever stepped foot in africa so im not African American.

  • Just because your family was not calling themselves African American does not mean that there were not other people who were doing that. I remember from the earliest times, my great grandfather and mother were calling themselves that. I can tell you apparently have not read about the the various organizations of our history who considered themselves African Americans. Every ethnic group in American relates back to their country of origin of their parents. No Jesse Jackson was not the first.

  • Check out this video by CNichole7 she made 3 videos of her trip to Ghana. Please read the comments under these 3 videos. CNichole7

  • WHY AND THE HELL DOSE IT MATTER . IF YOUR BLACK ! AFRO AMERICAN . AFRICAN AMERICAN ! DONT WE GOT BETTER THINGS TO DO . THEN TO DEBATE THIS ISH ? PEOPLE DIEING IN THE STREETS . GO TO PRISON . RUNNING OUT OF FOOD . CANT FIND A JOB . DONT YOU GOT SOMETHING BETTER TO DO . THIS IS SO RETARDED . WERE DEBATING BEING CALLED A AFRICAN AMERICAN . SEE EVEN SOME EDUCATED PEOPLE ARE RETARDED . JUST THE FACT WERE DEBATING SHOWS WHY WERE MESSED UP . WHO CARES . YOUR ALL OF THESE NAMES . GET OVER IT . DAM !

  • Of course you're not "african-american", you're an Israelite! We "black" people are HEBREW ISRAELITES!

  • @BrokenTHGurl08 what hebrew do you know that descended from the ivory coast aint heard of non that i know of.

  • @darkdani45 lol Three words....Read Your Bible!

Where were we before we fled to africa and what color were the ancient Epytians and why was Moses or Jesus able to blend in with them so well??

  • African-American was used as early as the time of Paul Allen. the AME. And race is but a social construct in the first place. But the fact remains that us Black folk in the US still have our genetic and cultural roots right smack dab in Africa, and that has shaped us, as how other have treated us because of it has. This is the environment in which the tribe has grown. And we are a tribe now. The world is just tribes and mixtures, beautiful when you step back and look. Strong roots best fruits

  • If you decide to be African American, how to differentiate yourself from the white South Africans that become US citizens everyday? Interesting thoughts, not sure where I stand.

  • We should use the term African American because we are of African descent,. Why should we forfeit our ties to the continent. Our Ancestors were from Africa so we are African. We should claim our heritage. Black is fine but where is the land of the Blacks? I think that accepting labels given to us by our oppresor is not a good idea. What are we connected to?

  • I respect your opinion but I suggest that you study commercial and international law. The term "Black" is an adjective and could never be respected among nations. That is why we are referred to as "minorities" because that is the thinking of a minor. Afr-Am. is no different because, like you said, Africa has many countries. We must claim a nationality that links us to our heritage or in court you will forever remain a piece of property. These are things we should be paying attention to.

  • THANK YOU! STAY STRONG. KEEP THE KNOWLEDGE GOING.

  • YOUR A ISRAELITE YOUR NOT BLACK!

  • I may not be 1st, 2nd, 3rd generation African. But I've been to Africa many times & like many other AA who travel &live there...becoming acclimated to the food, dress, dance, language, traditions overall is like 2nd nature once you open your mind to it. We can and do identify with the African culture here in US. It's in our dialect, braids, locs, fashion, music (we like a good drum beat), dance (formation dance), some food. We lack their sense of community and need to bond with them & unite.

  • @crossfitchic Wow yes!!! I am African!

  • Another point to this argument was that government Law reinforce African American because they don't want to offend the black people using the term N word. They start using African American. In the 60s negro was used to differentiate black people. In the 90s new revolution they changed the term in America to African American. Our ancestor are from Africa but we need to move past the old tradition of wrong words. People need to be educated and know how to use those words. I'm out peace y'll

  • First, people who misjudge this young lady are idiot. Secondly, lot of people don't think before they say their opinions out to the world. I think the mistake lot of people doing using African American or African Canadian is because they think all black people are from Africa. Yes, the ancestors are from Africa. I truly agree with that, I'm black but Canadian. Why would I claim Nigeria while wasn't born in Nigeria. Lot of people need to be educated on history and terms.

  • anyone that can't see your point is screwed up

my husband was born in africa and gained his citizenship here in america, so actually he is african american. I was born here so i am american that happen to have african descent.

    so simple.

  • @linnyjay636 t's quite clear that they call black americans african-americans because of their african descent.

  • I am not an African American, I am a Black American. I don't have family in Africa that i call, I don't even know African holidays or what they do over there throughout the year. I am a Black American, African Americans who are actually African Americans can use the title because it applies, but my family has been here in the U.S for too long, and we have adapted to American customs. I dont intentionally disassociate, but my adaptability makes it hard to make it apply

  • @kyana4687 I dunno whether you trying to be funny or serious but you're ignorant as fuck. I suggest you slap yourself for making blacks and your family look bad if they're not as ignorant as you.

  • @0Moreno0 Its my opinion and its how i feel, African Americans are Africans who came from Africa usually first generations in the U.S. I am NOT a first generation my family has been here hundreds of years and i am too Americanized to even identify with the African culture, like i said, its NOT a disassociation, its an observation. Actual African Americans come here and have to live with the legacy black Americans live by, how is it fair to them to share a title when we are not the same?

  • @kyana4687 You and miss @DreadTinaHistory aka respected black woman 0_o should do Genealogical DNA test.

  • @0Moreno0 i respect african culture, i just dont think i have the right to claim the heritage because of what America has stripped me of, its out of respect for the people of africa, i wasnt there during apartheid and all of the terrible slaughters and the rapes, i was here in my house safe and sound. but disagreeing with the title doesnt make me a bad person. Blacks in America have our own history, why would we have to take credit for someone elses?

  • @kyana4687 If you read books but I doubt it, then read "Creating Black Americans: African American History and Its Meanings, 1619 to the Present" book by Nell Irvin Painter ( she's a beautiful black woman) - you will be able to learn alot about your history.

  • hold up is black africans still black? just checkin im bout to step out da house gotta get the terms right......

  • @womp123 It's not the Black that is in question.

  • Another ignorant self hating black.

  • Dread But even is you are not born in africa your ancestors are from africa, so you are african origin. You said Irish are called Irish american so you are alsofrican american

  • @addis11100 I know that. Watch the video again, read the captions and the description. The argument is not whether I am of African origin that is a Moot point.

  • @DreadTinaHistory Dread I have listened again your first video you dont want to be called african american but you want to be called black. What about to be called african? Your mother country is africa it does not matter if you come yesterday or 500 years ago to america. You said also there are no irish who are called irish american. Well your history is different from irish. when you travel to africa they treat you as there own people.

  • im white but i completely agree with you on the african american thing its wierd we arent called european americans and also black people mostly arent black unless your really dark but white people arent white unless your albino all of us almost have some kind of different skintone so i dont know why we even have any term for any race we are all just people

  • Good

Im not rascist but i agree

    Because what about jamacians

    Haitians

  • Um.. Haitians are

    a- west indians

    b-Creoles

    c-Haitian

    d-black

    e-African

f-and if they are US born they are Haitian american

g- They are technically latin too.

  • nigger actually means kings they switched the term when we our ancestors were bought over to america

  • GO TO HELL BITCH!!! I'M "AA"

  • @kentarikhapri Why should I go to hell? Because you are not intelligent enough to understand my argument. Please ask your parent or grandparent anyone born before 1980 if they are "African America". After 500 years I think we can just be called American just like" European Americans" aka white people

  • @DreadTinaHistory african-american means = african-blood, american-born.

  • @DreadTinaHistory but you still remain an african no matter the years...

  • @kentarikhapri If you were not legally African (usually by birth) prior to becoming American, then you are simply a black American or an American of African descent.

  • I blame this identity on white people because they treated blacks like shit for so many years and black had no choice but to identify themselves.

  • you are full of shit

  • I agree with the sister. I too consider myself Black, not AA. Black folk have been in this country since the 1640's. We have been here longer than most european cultures. Yet, we are supposed to claim another continent, when they get to claim just their color? I will start calling myself AA when whites start calling themselves European American. Thanks.

  • @natgirrl wrong..the only reason blacks manage to even be here in the USA in the first place is BECAUSE OF THE SLAVE TRADE BY THE EUROPEAN-DUTCH settlers so if not for the dutch you wouldn't even be here..the dutch started the slave trade AFTER America was already founded (actually Occupy by the brittish, irish and italians from the natives)THEN THE SLAVE TRADE happen only AFTER IT WAS DISCOVER so dont say "we have been here longer then most european cultures"..OH AND IM NOT WHITE btw IM Hispanic

  • @sharingasaskay Look it up. Facts are easy to find. first black arrival in what is now called the United States occured in 1619. These individuals were not slaves but indentured servents, along with poor whites, and were permitted freedom after 7 years of servitude, just as whites were. Slavery occured in the US 40 years after. Educate yourself with facts. Check out : PBS show History Detectives on this subject. It is easy to google and educate yourself, please.

  • @natgirrl yes its true and i don't argue facts ... but your the one who needs to educate your self when you make the claim blacks were here first or were here longer then white Europeans when clearly they weren't the first

  • @sharingasaskay Never said that to begin with. I stated that "we have been here longer than most European cultures". Blacks first appeared on the census on 1619, Jamestown, as indentured servants along with Scottish, and Germans who were also in the same indentured servitude. In fact, after their 7 years of service, blacks were free to buy land and start businesses. Yes, the English preceded blacks. But that leaves the majority of europe missing from early settlements.

  • @sharingasaskay Another thing, Dutch settlers? Where did get that from? It was the Brittish. Again, not difficult to arm yourself with real facts.

  • @natgirrl No ms ,, you need to educate your self,, First of all it wasn't only the brittish who settle ...the dutch settle in many areas in the USA and had many colonies such as Fort Nassau on Castle Island in the Hudson near present-day Albany (wont name EVERY SINGLE COLONY to prove my point) .... where do you think the word BRONX NAME comes from? (1 of the 62 counties of the State of New York) the word bronx itself is dutch (i would know i live in THE BRONX MYSELF) discovered by Jonas Bronck

  • @sharingasaskay Prehaps you don't know American history. First Permanant settlements: St Augustine: 1565, but settlers died off or returned to spain a few years later. Jamestown: 1607, and New Amsterdam.: 1624. First blacks arrived before 1619. BTW, Jonas Bronck arrived sometime around 1637. Decades after Jamestown and first black arrival.

  • @natgirrl Congrats on taking my advice with the Wikipedia and library now your statements makes you seem less ignorant ..although we can go on about U.S history ALL DAY it still doesn't change your ridiculous claim ...im done with these lil debates of yours its quite tedious after like the 6 or 7th reply and frankly im quite bored now

  • @natgirrl Part 2 - so know what you talking about when you make a FAILED attempt at trying to insult peoples intelligence ... use your own advice and use google to look more in DEPTH US\.S history theirs always libraries and MANY OTHER ARCHIVES you can look into and then THEIRS WIKIPEDIA & Britannica you can also look for more research ;) .... enuff said

  • @sharingasaskay Anyone with half a brain would know not to depend upon Wikipedia for obvious reasons. I want to thank you for prompting me to revisit my old college textbooks for actual dates. Let's not forget that I am the one that has provided actual dates to back up everhthing that I have said. You? Insults and wikipedia. You are an amateur. Enough said.

  • @sharingasaskay No way, all the Dutch did first was sell a cargo of Black Ebony, they got as a buccaneer's prize from an enemy slaver.

  • @sharingasaskay The first black Americans arrived in Jamestown in 1619. Google it. That puts us here as long as, or before, the Irish, Scottish, German, Italian, Polish, Norwegian, and Danish Americans. The English had been here fore 10 years prior (big deal) and the Spanish and French had trading ports in the Gulf Coast but that wasn't part of the United States or the original colonies so technically we were here before them too. And we were definately here before the Asians or Hispanics.

  • I am African but grew up in England. I am glad you crazy "black" Americans don't want African as a title....YOU DON'T DESERVE IT.
