  • You should look into getting 500-700 watt Nesco dehydrator. It'll cost about $50-$60, but it's well worth it. The heater sits on top and the way the trays are made it evenly distributes the heat, everything dries evenly. No rotating the meat or anything like that. Also the process only takes about 5-8 hours. Cuts a lot of time, and don't have to worry about moving the meat around all the time like that. Just put them on the tray, set it to "jerky" and that's it.

  • @IronBuddha80 good idea but I dont make it enought to need a better one

  • DNA, i was drooling all over my computer looking at that jerky, looks like you did a great job

  • @ingrda thanks! I need to make more sometime

  • folks

  • @impulse120291 yeah I say that alot I know

  • @dnahoghunter

lol no worries, if you add mustard, does it really make much of a difference?

  • @impulse120291 adds a zip to it, depends on the mustard too

  • i think you need to umm have more spacing beside meat. That way the hot air can go from bottom tray to top tray more evenly.

  • @raymanlegy maybe. this is just the way Ive been doing it

  • look it wasnt me responding to your videos..it was Jerry Silcox..i lived with him and he always left me signed in and commented on ppls stuff..i dont make jerky..good luck with yours bro!

  • I dont know if you remember me, but I was the one asking for the model a few months ago. Well I came back here to tell you that I got me a dehydrator and followed this video EXACTLY and I made some DAMN GOOD JERKY! Thanks for the great video dude!

  • @AdamTheHunt I remember, That puts a smile on my face! Glad it worked out! Thats why I make these vids. Sometimes they help... take care!

  • Don't crowd the pieces together just to remove one of the trays. You can still rotate the trays from top to bottom, but leave all four trays as the piece dry and contract. This is to allow more air movement for quicker drying........similar concept as NOT to jam too much clothes into the dryer. There has to be room for air circulation.

  • When I make jerky, I tear a piece open and squeeze it to check if it's done. As soon as no more moisture comes out, I call it done. It's just not as good when it gets all hard. I'm probly doing it wrong.

  • @PandawdyBob sounds good to me, thats about how I do it and it turns out nice!

  • stop saying "folks" for fuck sakes

  • sounds like a commercial for 'Billspice' You don't have a clue how to make real jerky..lol

  • @joeyalbritton1983 not sure what real jerky would be. This works great for me. Not an add, he sends it, I use it and give it a shout out.

  • @joeyalbritton1983 Really? Because the term "jerky" is actually referring to the texture of the meat. You could slap some strips of meat in a dehydrator without marinating/seasoning and call it jerky. Thats REAL jerky. So just STFU because you don't know what your talking about

  • Man that looks good, if you don't mind me askin, what make/model is that dehydrator?

  • @FishinBoat119 I had to check the comments below, its a snackmaster Jr... really old

  • i smoke mine mighty tasty i say

  • @THATYOUNGDIPPAH50 I think I may do a batch if we take a deer this year. I havent smoked it before but I wanna try that. Glad you brought it up.

  • how many pounds of meat did you use to start

  • @xdevox been so long I couldnt say, maybe 2.5-4...?

  • Check out my recipe for a venison tenderloin on my homepage!

  • looks good you make donations

  • Is deer and pig the same way if making jerky?

  • @leadchunkersoutdoors I WOULD NOT use pork for jerky! It has to be cooked to a certain temp, the dehydrator won't do it. I wouldnt recomend trying.

  • My problem is that i am afraid of under cooking it and then i end up making it very hard and then it just snaps and comes apart in my mouth in pieces.

  • @leadchunkersoutdoors remember that beef can be eaten raw. Just keep sqeezing it and pull it while its still a bit soft. Then it will harden on the plate.

  • @dnahoghunter what is the recipe for the season mix

  • @dnahoghunter what is the recipe for the season mix

  • @skillet5938 couldnt say, I buy it

  • Do you know whats in the Bills Spice?

  • @smokeredsjessie I do not know.

  • @dnahoghunter Oh alright. Where can you get it from? Lol.

  • @smokeredsjessie look it up on ebay or contact billmon8@yahoo.com

  • rotatate em' :-D

  • @148soldier i need tyo make some more. I havent made any since this batch

  • Softer is better if you still have teeth lol. I prefer mine softer &/or shredded.

  • @Begbucks I need to make some. I think this was the last time I made any

  • @dnahoghunter it's a very nutritious actually.

  • have you ever tried to make goose jerky in that? i have been thinking about trying it in mine

  • @damagebrain1 Ive never had goose so no

  • This jerky is awesome :P

I love how he says it :D

  • @Jakelol1980 LOL, he nevers gets on camera

  • thanks bub!

  • What type of dehydrator is that? Thanks

  • @AdamTheHunt Now I have to go check it.... ahhhh....this ones a snackmaster jr... walmart maybe. They are about all the same.

  • @dnahoghunter Thanks man! I attempted to make my own dehydrator with household stuff. Suprisingly I got the temperature pretty close to the necessary temperature for dehydrating venison but the thermostat I had wouldn't keep it consistent so I that fell apart. Ever since I've been looking for a cheap one that will do the job. Guess I found the one! Thanks again man!

  • @AdamTheHunt welcome!

  • I've heard you can do it in an oven on about 200degrees and leave the door ajared, and it'll only take like 2/3 hours for it to b soft, (the way I like it) seem like it would work?

  • @44Tapout it does, just as you say

  • this gained you a subscriber man, PLEASE make more videos through this season?

  • @jumpthenoob Always do, takes time and $ to hunt fish and do vids, time also... you cant even guese!

  • Are you half native american? You look like Dan Henderson, the MMA fighter, but a skinnier version. haha.

  • @Tobudz I do have Canadian Indian of some kind in me, pops never said which... French Indian is what I am

  • Rotatat'm! lol

  • @joshanator1 I need to make some more

  • Looks delicious...gotta get some of that spice.

  • @tehmattbookpro me too, I just used my last bag.

  • My family has always made deee jerky on screens let it hang out in the sun for a couple days a screen on each side to keep the flys off

We lived in central california in my opinion it has much more flavor than the dehydrator

  • @lucaspalmer7 sounds cool! Probably does!

  • wow that looks good

  • Looks good if you do this a lot consider an Excalibur Dehydrator will never have to rotate trays ever again.

  • @ocbc1975 Ill have to look into it

  • make me some.

  • @guitarboyaustin I need to make more for sure!

  • can you eat it when its soft? what you think

  • @iwanttofight69 as long as its beef. Venison is ok too, but I wouldnt eat it raw.

  • Jerky RULES! One of the best foods that's ever been invented! I prefer the kind that is soft and melts in your mouth though.

  • @SuperStrik9 this stuff is about medium. Thanks for the comment!

  • @dnahoghunter Yea I like mines soft how do you get it soft and chewy but still firm

  • @misspotential You just pinch it a bit and when it feels soft you remove it. Takes practice because the still dry as they cool. You just have to try diifeant thinknesses

  • Hey buddy you are the best hahaha for real I fucking did it 7 hours THANK YOU,THANK YOU ,THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @robertopaz1 Good for you!!! Not too dry I hope. You want it soft when you pull it cause it will harder.

  • omg. making my mouth water

  • @GazeNtheBlueHaze Make you some!

  • @dnahoghunter Hopefully next year ill find time to try hunting. very informative vid

  • do you have to flip or is that your method

  • @pinoybro09 did you watch the vid? It shows and explains all

  • haha I'm making venison jerky right now!

  • @mil1982aooo good for you!

  • folks

  • @2413scottmarley2 Yes???

  • i dont even know what venison is.... im gunna guess deer or sumtin like that

  • @WhiteAndBlueCrown You would be correct!

  • Neat...I have the same unit. I'm doin it on Saturday..Thanks..

  • @FTACagetrapper Ur welcome! I need to do it again.

  • Hey dnahoghunter, been watching your vids for a long time. Was wondering where you picked up that dehydrater your using. I want to try your method shown here.

  • @GosuVu Thanks for the views! Walmart, Target, Kmart, they should all have them.

  • @dnahoghunter Alright thanks. I'll be picking up one shortly and i'll be sure to make video of how it turned out. The only problem is i don't have a actual video camera, it's only a camera that records video but no audio. But that shouldn't be a problem. I can always edit the video and type instead.

    Thanks again, Derek

  • @GosuVu You can always use your puter to do and audio over the vid after you make it.

  • You need to buy more paper towel.....Haha

  • @midnightvampire49321 LOL, why?

  • @dnahoghunter Maybe he has OCD. You can see an empty paper towel rack behind the camera shy person eating the jerky.

  • @stopglobalswarming My wife never puts papaer towels on that rack, I dont know why. It just sits there!

  • hey this is a good video i have never made with a dehydrator i usually smoke moose or woodland caribou meat in my smokeshack.and yes it is well worth the effort check out my video on smoking moosemeat if you get a chance.great video

  • @TheWildNorth You know, I grew up in Maine and have never had any kinda moose exect the kind that chases kids in the woods!

  • considering that this is just raw meat that has been dried out, it looks very delicious

    thanks for sharing

  • @fedaikn Thats all jerky is, even smoled, its just dried meat! Thanks for commenting!

  • Looks Great!! Love me some Jerky!!

  • @lookin4memarbles Its good stuff. look for Bills spice on Ebay...

  • Jerky in stores is WAY overpriced. If you hunt your own game and have a dehyrdater you can make as much as you want for free !.

  • @GosuVu Almost free. Get on ebay and get some of Bills Spice, its worth it!

  • I LOVE JERRRRRRKYYYY

going to have to try this, of course without the excellent game mix i keep hearing about.

  • this jerky is awsome!!!! funny lol

  • @HogcrazyNaples Thanks!!!

  • excellent video. i need to rotate mine more. my kids love the jerky but they are still very young so i end up over cooking most of it to get all the red out of the meat.

  • Cool video, gave me an idea to make some beef jerky today, I made mine on the oven, took about 5 hours, Now I just need to get a damned deer and make deer jerky!! 5*

  • This one was Calebs. I haven't harvested a deer in 2 years. I like fatty beef roasts for that!

  • 12 hrs for a plate of jerky??? FUCK THAT! I'll go to the store and buy a bag.

  • Why buy it when I can make it???

  • jerky is almost 10 dollars a pound at the store!! we can make it out of the meat we already have in our freezers for about a dollar a pound.

the dehydrator is doing most of the work, its not like you are slaving over a hot stove for 12 hours....

  • Good luck finding deer jerky in a store. Tell me when you find it because I have never seen it for sale. @ coolasice2

  • sure looks good! i only got hamburger, you think i could make some with that? jerky sure is expensive to buy, you'd definitely be better off making your own.

  • Why not??? Did you see the flat white tray? Its for doing fruit roll ups!!! Just put a bit of wax paper in there so it doesnt fall thru the holes. Alot of jerky is just pressed burger.

  • i make all of mine out of ground. i extrude it out of a gun i bought at cabelas. it only takes about 15 minutes to fill up the dehydrator. 5 minute clean up. try it out dude!

  • hey thanks! i will give it a shot!

  • lol i have the same dehidrater. great how to vid again DNA. Did You ever try smoking jerky its good.

  • I've wanted to try it in a smoker...

  • Thanks for a great comment!!! Contact Bill!!

  • That looks so friggin good!!! My uncle gave me some moose last week, any recipies I should try?

  • Try this one. If you don't have a dehydrtor, maybe try it in the oven on a real low temp. These sices are sent to me from Penn. You could almost drive there!!!

  • Cool vid...I have make more jerky this year than I ever have!!!! The only problem is that I never make enough!!! LOL The kiddos eat it up and I do too!!!! I dry mine in the oven on racks.

    5* Capt. Lance

  • Never had the moose!!! And we had them in Maine. Alaska, ahhh someday for a vacation. I've just gotta!!!

  • im going to have to try that seasoning. i usually just use salt pepper lime and crushed red pepper. i made about 3 pounds during the christmas time and had a large porting sent to some soldiers in afganistan. i think that im going to also try a marinade like the one Lone Oak Meat Market (1604 & 87) uses on their fajitas. great video bro!!! keep them coming!

  • You should give Bills atry. you cod see the chunks of garlc on the meat. That sause mix stick well and lasts forever after!!!

  • I bet that stuff doesn't last long. Mmmm Mmmm. LOL, I think Kyle needs a little more camera time so he ain't so shy.

  • Its 1/2 gone now. he does gameing vids on you tube, just not on cam stuff.

  • .....badass.....thats all i have to say .
