Having worked with wood like this myself, I can only imagine that Djalu spends a good portion of his evenings picking splinters out of his hands with a tweezers!
Can you purchase these particular yidaki? If so where can I find themI'm in the U.S. but I have collected and played didji for 8 years now... I am in awe at the sound these produce! cheers!
Power tools? The work involved is significant enough with power tools, I can't imagine how long it would take without power tools.

Honestly, it kind of bothers me that Djalu uses power tools now, and doesn't just do it in a purer way.

@HadleyDGRC Ummm... Djalu's been using power tools for well over a decade lol!!

Marlu Marrkupmi! Always refreshing to see Djalu making Yidaki. His mastery of making this sacred instrument has a life story in every step.

is there any treatment involved for the inside of the bore? (oil or saltwater soak for the stick)
thanks

@bdidjin Hi Bryan, no treatment at all inside the bore and the instrument still in good shape, no splits and no movement. Its a perfect yidaki.
