My dog does this trick! Except I never taught it to her. One time, she grabbed my older brother's wallet and pulled out $200 and put it inside my wallet. When I opened my wallet up to go buy a slurpee, there were $200 in it! Not to long after that, my older brother reported to the family that he was missing a fairly large amount of money so I've been thought as a theif because no one believes that my dog is smart enough to do something like that.
Chris, Do you you think your parrots enjoy interacting with the audience? It certainly seems that way to me! Do you consider that a type of reinforcement of positive behavior?
@chrisbiro1 that is really awesome i got a shamrock macaw today she is 2 going on 3 that would be so cool to teach her that.... how do you go about doing that??
At what age do you start teaching the "toss" on the back? My Miligold has no problems trusting me to carry her around or pretty much do anything with her on her back. But I'd hate to scare her by even a little bounce that would startle her enough to distrust.
How fun! We have 4 conures: a Jenday, Gold-Capped, Half-Moon, and a Green Cheeked. I applaud your willingness to share these sweet (and playfuly naughty!) little creatures, and to educate youngsters about them and the parrot species in general. Hmmmm. Maybe I should teach our Rowdy Bunch the dollar trick ...
Snicket is doing great. The dollar in the jar temptation happens to all of them in the beginning. It does not take long for them to get it figured out. At this fair we trained two sun conures to do the dollar bill trick. Pronto did not get quite as far as Snicket did but close. It is a fun trick for multiple reasons (grin). Chris
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SUN CONURES! :DDD I have two of my own :) They're adorable, and have such a distinct and unique personality. I love mine to death.

That's because it isn't smart enough to do that, you just have sticky fingers.

Nice job, Chris. Did you pick him up by his tail? Leo doesn't seem to mind this either... Does anyone ever give you trouble for it?
KippTheKidd 3 years ago
Yes I pulled her out of the vase with her tail. It did not seem to bother. No trouble over this yet. Chris

This can be taught at any age. Jack was over 2 years old when I taught her. James was about 5 years when I taught her. Chris
