  • ahhh perfect tutorial for beginners! I learned everything I wanted to know but how to do titles. The video is 10 minutes, but between much pausing, writing down notes etc., it took me more like 45 minutes to get through all the lessons in this tutorial. Still -- not bad at all!

  • Instead of "snapping" a clip to another clip by pressing a button, can you just right click and ripple delete, in the empty space between the two videos?

  • I go from trying to get something a lot more advanced than imovie to being completely confused at final cut pro lol Great tutorial.

  • Thank you for such nice tutorial.NO BS..very clear. Much Thanks!!

  • thank you sooo much when i first looked at final cut pro i did not have a clue what to do, but after this video i know so much more, Thank you.

  • @skitlegrindr The video was created using screen capture software called "Screenflow". Super easy to use and extremely useful especially for tutorials.

  • Is there a version for ppc leopard and if so which?

  • Thanks so much! Which version do you use? I have 4.5 HD does this version use different methods? Please respond!!

  • @MrJMNorman This video was done with version 6. Not sure the differences between the two but I'm sure there are a few. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS Thanks :)

  • what version of final cut pro is this?

  • @ljohnsonljohnson9423 This is version 6

  • this is aweso e do u have more vide0s

  • :( I cant put my videos from my camara to the Final Cut...

  • ty for the vid. i sort of used FC at uni and am applying for jobs where il be using FC pro. im sort of worried though as at uni we just had FC, at home on my mac i have FC express and the roles im applying for require FC pro!! im a bit scared.....any main difference between FCpro and normal Fc? thankyou- ps you are a very good teacher! very patient AND explain things well. thanks!! Caroline

  • @iloveXH558 Hey Caroline, sorry for the late response. There are some small differences between Final Cut Express and Pro but as far as the basics for editing, they both operate about the same.

  • Thumbs up mate - great tutorial!!!

  • great tutorial!

  • Thank you thank you for this!

  • Amazing tutorial! I'm making a movie for a multimedia project and I want to use Final Cut instead of Imovie HD so it looks better. Thank you!!!!

  • very nice! thanks for putting this together. I'm just getting back into Final Cut after 4 years without it. I forgot soo much!

  • @BigNate84 how can you tell?

  • @WonderJ13 How can I tell what? I think you may be confusing me for someone else. Most likely Gejnemin who commented right below me. This is Final Cut by the way Gejnemin seems to be a little confused.

  • @BigNate84 Sry i commented on the wrong guy

  • @WonderJ13 no worries!

  • ARE U SERIOS PEOPLE?!?!?!?! THIS ISNT FINAL CUT!!!!!! ITS THE MICROSOFT VIDEO EDITER!!!!!!!!!!

  • How do you drag the filters? My filters just stay in their position...

  • OMG DOUBLE RAZORBLADE !

ALL THE WAY, ACROSS THE TIMELINE !

  • Thank you sooo much! I haven't used Final Cut for a couple of years and needed to refresh my mind. Your video was incredible helpful and featured everything I wanted to know. Cheers mate!

  • how do you have large icons, i only have rows.

  • great video, thanks!

  • @JSUTPRODUCTIONS What do I do when I try to change the duration of a transition and it doesn't allow me to?

  • @Bludmagic I've ran into that many times. It's a pretty simple answer but hard to put into words. Maybe I'll do an update video and answer some questions from users. Basically it sounds like you are trying to add a transition to the furthermost beginning or end of a clip. And you can't do that.

  • when ever i insert a clip it has a red bar over top and says "unrendered" so i have to wait and render every clip

  • @mbdonnachie Yes, it all depends on the type of video you have your timeline set up for. If you start a new project, the 1st time you insert a video clip, a box will come up asking you to "Change the sequence settings to your clip settings." If you click "Yes", then you should not have to render unless you add an effect or a color correction. The thing is, a sequence in a timeline can only be set up for one type of video. If you have 720p and SD for example, one will have to render

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS Thanks so much for your help!!!

  • Two Words

    Thank You :D

  • Very helpful. Thank you!

  • go fuck yourself you suck

  • This is a fantastic tutorial!

I've only just got Final Cut Pro and my first impression of the interface was confusion!

However, after following the steps of this video, you've shown me that it's not as hard as it looks!

So thank you very much :D

  • thanks a lot , that's a very helpful video, and accurate too....better than most other videos

  • if you want to check out haw to make some cool action effects, klick on my account

  • You say to create a new bin right click, well I just got my mac and final cut pro but my mouse is only one button click, any help?

  • @ThoseDudesAreGood HEY...If you are using your trackpad, place 2 fingers on the trackpad and then click or you can click on "File" - New - Bin"

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS thanks alot

  • @ThoseDudesAreGood you have to do control click

  • @ThoseDudesAreGood or just control click it

  • @ThoseDudesAreGood or you could get a new mouse, any USB mouse should work

  • @ThoseDudesAreGood use your window mouse. one of the thing i hate about mac is its mouse. it will ruin your day

  • @itsaboy1000 so buy a different mouse...

  • is this easier to work with than sony vegas? cuz im really not sure which one to get for my movies i wanna make. I dont know which is better. some help would be great!

  • @delzirockz I don't know if Final Cut is easier to use but I know it is definitely better than Sony Vegas.

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS What make final cut better than vegas?

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS .That's not true. Sony Vegas, FCP or Premier are just video editors, nothing more nothing less. They are just tools. A hammer is a hammer it doesn't matter what brand it is. I think both do the same job in the same fashion. I use both and I personally prefer Sony Vegas because I work faster, but that's me. In any case when I go to the movies or watch TV I am unable to guess what program they used to edit that particular movie or TV program. BTW Nice tutorial!

  • @WBGMedia I actually don't remember writing that FCP was better than Vegas. Possibly, I came to that conclusion based around the fact that I don't know anyone who uses Sony Vegas and I am in the film/Video industry. And I believe the only hollywood movie ever edited in Vegas was Paranormal Activity. So I suppose it's just my opinion. Hammer is just a hammer in that it pushes nails into wood, but some do it quicker, some do it easier, some do it better. It's all up to the user I guess.

  • Snapping doesnt seem to work. Lemme try restrting my comp.

  • A little help? When using fcp yesterday, after rendering, my cursor would not lock on to the marker/timeline. It makes it difficult to join clips precisely. Any suggestions?

  • @AstonHD I'm not sure exactly what you are having trouble with. But...try hitting the "N" key once and see if that helps. That is the shortcut for "snapping" which helps to join clips together.

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS Ya i was talking about the snapping. Thanks for the help!

  • What about rendering the video ,wen u first put it upp?

  • please help when i import a video the sound only has a beeping noise please help i paid so much for this and cant work it!

  • @zztop5911 In this video I talk about rendering. If you are hearing a beeping noise, then Final Cut needs to render the audio. There should be a red line at the top of the timeline, that means something needs to be rendered. You can hit the "apple" key and the "R" key to render, otherwise render is also at the very top in one of the pulldown menus but I can't recall which menu it is at the moment. Don't worry, you'll find it.

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS thank you so much!

  • @zztop5911 You got it to work?

  • This should be a lot easier to make animations in rather than iMovie! xD

  • what video type dose it have to beyou no like AVI

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS I smiled the entire time during this video because I actually understood what you did and when I tried out editing for myself. It turned out great, thanks for posting this.

  • I tried my hand at FCP today with no previous experience and I think it shows.

Here's what I did: converted an MKV 1080p movie to .MOV and FCP imported fine. When I try to scrub, it hangs my system. Do industry pros have footages in segments when they cut a trailer? I consider my system pretty decent but anytime I scrub from the viewer, I get beach balled for a good half a minute. I was expecting more fluidity like iMovie where you can see scenes unfold in real time.

  • Can you please help me? Every time I try to import a HD video into Final Cut Pro, it says "File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown." What should I do? Thanks.

  • I have to render it every time i make a change to view it any help?

  • @Bonedude1928 Yeah, most likely your sequence settings do not match the format of your video. For example, if you shot in standard definition, you can't let your sequence settings be set for 720 or 1080p.

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS Ok, then for standard definition what should my sequence be set at?

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS Thank you!!!

  • Thank you so much!

  • great tutorial! you're direct and it's simple to follow. and you covered everything that a beginner like me wants to learn the first time i installed final cut pro. i've been using imovie and its totally pissing me off. which is why i installed fcp!

  • how much does this cost?

  • @TheJackattack78 $999.00

  • @kangawar holy fuck!

  • @TheJackattack78 Don't believe him it's about 180$

  • @FlyMeProductions ohhh ok

  • This program always annoys me.

The cross dissolve, wont let me add one unless I cut the ends off of the video first, and then I cant change the duration.

I was going to use it instead of iMovie (HD not the new crap) but it just does want to work right.

  • @JTX5 Your right the new i movie is garbage, the old HD was so easy to use especially the audio, more audio tracks would have been an improvement.

  • You mah homie dude, and I don't say that to just anyone!

  • Very helpful. Many thanks.

  • awsome tutorial. Thank you brotha, your my final cut mentor. Keep it up and I will keep whatching.

  • I officially adore you right now... Thank you so much!

  • Very clear, very helpful. Thanks

  • Very good video! I have a question. Snapping is indeed a good tool. But if I snap a clip, of course the next clip shows a gap, and so on. Is there a way that you snap all the clips together, without any gaps? Thanks in advance. You are a good teacher.

  • @eivissa1946

select all the clips behind the gap. then snap.

  • A BIG THANK YOU. Great clip.

  • Great tutorial, you made it look a lot less scary. Thank you

  • Thanks ... great video... will get me started...

  • Fantastic job!

  • how many gigs of ram do you have? are you using a mac pro? or mac book? i have a macbook pro 2.6 GHz Intel core duo with 4 gb of ram and it takes for ever to render stuff.. when u rendered it was real quick

  • WOW that was a big help! XD thanks

  • i love technology, and i also love sport. So, should i take "Tv Production" or " a basketball class"? any suggestions?

  • There's a red line over the clip and when i play the clip it says UNRENDERED

    how can i render it?

  • Is this FC studio or FC Express?

    Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • i've deleted one of my tools (like the audio screen on the left) how can i get it back?

  • Thanks Much. Graduated when Premier was very big, and i'm not getting back into some projects.

Really appreciate this. You made it so casual and easy, and that i really like.

    Cheers

  • Im new to final cut pro & still learning new things as i go but its taking a while only because everything i do, its needs to be rendered, can someone tell me how to have to render only once during one project

  • Ok, Question, How Do I Export My Call of Duty Vids Etc To Final Cut Pro? To Where It's Gonna Be In HD? Because Whenever I Do It, It's Either All Skippy Or Horrible Quality Or Both? I Need Help

  • youre tha man ;D i understand it aloooot better now

    loveyou

  • What i would reaaaally love to know is, how to do the sunlight in the corner effect.

  • do you render your video clips before cutting them? or do you make your cuts first and then render? I hate how you can't play back what you edited until it's all rendered.

  • Thank you so much!!! This is super helpful for newbie like me! God bless=)

  • Thank you!!

  • Fantastic tutorial.

  • Hi, first this is an amazing review. I'm a new person to FCP and I was just wondering is there a way to do a screen on screen? Like to make it so that you can cut one part of the video and add another part of a video into that? I know it sounds complicated but if you get it thanks.

  • why do my time line and canvas vanish i reopen my projects, i can never reopen the whole thing

  • @lark1914 Try this, find your sequence in the browser (top left) and double click on it. That should open it all back up.

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONS thnks for this. i was liking this a lot. the only thing i cound't find out is how to import music. but i have another problem. it's only letting me use some of my songs and not all of them. do u know why?

  • Great tutorial! This helped, thanks!

I'm just having one problem right now. Whenever I make a change to my video, like add a transition, it says I need to render. So am I gonna have to keep rendering every time I make changes? It's really annoying. Can that be fixed?

  • @GreenBamboo27, That's a good question that has a lot of answers. It depends on a number of things. What frame size are your videos in? If we're talking HD, then you'll probably have to render every time. You can try setting your RT to "safe" and your playback to "Medium". If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can find the answers all over the internet. Also if you use different audio than the original, that can cause constant rendering.

  • @JSTUPRODUCTIONSwhy do my time line and canvas vanish i reopen my projects, i can never reopen the whole thing

  • thank you so much. this helped me a lot.

  • amazing BRO!

  • amazing BRO!

  • thanks for posting - excellent video

  • AWESOME VIDEO. thanks for posting this. This was VERY VERY helpful for me to get started!

  • you are my hero.....thank you so much....so helpful and easy to follow .... now i just need a tutorial to combat my rapidly developing FCP addiction ;o)

  • nice work big man, very easy to follow

  • Nice job. A few things I'd add: (1) try right-clicking in the browser and select "View as List" to be able to see more at once, (2) instead of deleting the audio for your clips, you can just hit the green Audible button on the far left of each audio track to turn off the audio (this is helpful if you decide much later you want to have the audio back but it's too late to hit Command-Z), and (3) my favorite way to import files is to drag them over from a Finder window. Hope that helps! :)

  • wow. ive learned more from you then 3 years on my animation course. they sorta skipped over FCP basics and I find it so confusing to use! now it seems so much simpler thank you so much life saver :D! xx

  • Thank you thank you thank you! I've been so baffled by this program... and now I think i understand it!

  • That's great. I'm glad I could help.

  • I do a lot of videos in sony vegas doing videos to my favorite movies and TV shows I have final cut pro 5 I heard final cut does not read .avi files but I am not sure if my final reads my .avi files or not I can get them in final cut and play the files so I am guessing they work I want to do my first final cut video to the 2003 movie peter pan got any ideas on what I should do to get started? I just want to continue doing what I was doing in sony vegas but in final cut instead since it is better

  • wow thx

  • by the first minute i got so much help, and i wouldn't have figured that out by my self!! thanks man your a life saver!!

got this editing program last christmas from my dad, so i probably ought to start now ;)

  • You're going to love Final Cut. I"m glad I could help.

  • cool dude

  • Hey, if you haven't already seen the Final Cut King tutorials then I suggest that you take a look. They are awesome!

  • nice first tutorial! thanks

  • Any more videos coming up soon?

  • i have a canon hg20 hd camera abd cant upload my footage into final cut pro. need help please

  • Awesome man! Thx!

  • Very Very Nice. One of the better ones so far. FCE tutorial

  • Thanks a ton my friend!

  • nvm thanks for the help... i think i got it... thanks man...

  • Jstuproductions... I have a question... instead of the lock... Do you know how to have the music... but when someone is talking i can lower the music for those set of frames and adjust the volume higher for the audio captured by the camera... Thanks for any answer you have.... I appreciate your help... Thanks you for making this video.... It helped a lot of us...

  • This is what I do. Find the section of audio that you want to lower and "split" that section with the razor blade tool to make it it's own independant clip. Then double click on the audio part of it in the timeline and you can adjust the audio that way. Then you can add a audio transition to blend the clips together.

  • Sorry Im not really good with Final cut pro... Its my first time opening it up, and i understand what you mean but i still don't know where the controls are so that i may adjust the audio level

  • Dude Thanks so much man.... Im doing it alot now.... I still keep reviewing your video for inferences of my vids...

  • hey love ur vid but HELP how do u make urr cursor do taht?

  • color key, color correction

  • i added effects to my video they show up in the editors filter but when i view the video nothing changes, help?

  • vid saved my life

    thanks

  • does final cut edit quicktime format? sorry for being a noob, im thinking about getting FCP or FCE

  • how come every time i add a video clip it doesnt show audio?

  • You have to choose on import settings both video and audio. Just put the settinggs to be both all the time

  • Looks great in HD.

    Great tutorial!
