This has no chance of bettering Thrust SSC. The Eagle is primitive in comparison and is basically an ancient Lockheed F-104 Starfighter with the wings chopped off. And anyway, Bloodhound is on its way to obliterate everything with the a rocket hybrid that uses the latest Eurojet Typhoon jet engine, an 800bhp custom race engine and a falcon rocket.
What ever; I wash my hands of this. I apologize for insulting anyone. I retract any insulting statements; and would like to say that a great many people of different nationalities and ethnicities are equally responsible for the contributions that have made the 21st century what it is; good or bad. Every countryman has their faults and legacies they must acknowledge and accept good or bad as well. I hope we can settle this on a peaceful note. I hope the British SSC BH team succeeds. ;-)
It really would have solved many issues. Communism would never engulf south East Asia. The British and French would have maintained their colonial power around the world; WWII drained their capabilities and they could no longer maintain them, so they failed. Germany would have slowly drifted towards a more capitalist agenda than Fascist in the long run; and taken care of Japan for us; The US would have successfully colonized China and not had to pull out; and everyone would be happy. ExceptRussia
Personally I think the British should of sided with the Germans in WWII. Hitler never once considered the British or the United States an enemy. We could have used him to wipe out the equally murderous Stalinist Empire. Nazi Germany was really no more vile than colonial Belgium or Britain or even the United States (yeah, we have our own atrocities as well, Native Americans, Mestizos among many). The only difference was Hitler based his expansionist goals in Eastern Europe, not some distant land.
@Thepylot78 True, but you would think that they would have made a little effort in changing a bit of the aero properties. Then again, if it works at high speed in the air, it should work well at high speeds on land as well.
Gentlemen... Being present at the 10th anniversary reunion of some of the SSC team when the NAE was at B.R. testing, I can testify to the fact that the spirit of the celebration was one of appreciation for sharing amongst the SSC, NAE & Aussie Invader team/drivers present @ the event. Yes, the SSC team may not have provided specific details about their succesful record runs, Noble, Green, McGlashen & Shadle all commented about collaborating over the years while working our projects. So, nuf said
Your begining to bore me with your 'preferal definitions' so im just gonna get to the point and ask you the question again (the question that you have already avoided answering) Why did you feel the need to subject us 'non Americans' to your "dont forget how great America is" rant in your first post? Dont you realise that it is offensive to imply that your nation is owed any more respect than other nations? In particular, why mention the 'stealth subs'?
@gamblemadman My original statement was directed at the people who were insulting the guys who are building the NAE. To be clear, this was a low speed test run, with a far less powerful motor than they plan on using for the actual runs. Plus, they have no where near the resources or funding the team over at SSC has. Why can't people just cheer them on and be done with it. Oh and did I mention SSC refused to share their research data from the "Thrust" run years ago.
@gamblemadman When another country can transport their vehicle to the United States, utilize US resources and take the record and research information back to England without so much as a "bye your leave", or "hey we'd love to share our findings, thanks for supporting us," there is something dreadfully wrong.
@xxevilgeniusxx Actually your original statement was directed at any non American unfortunate enough to read it. Perhaps you didn't take this fact into consideration while venting your frustrations.
For your information it wasn't a "country" that transported their vehicle to the US salt flats, it was a private group of engineers that had no funding from the government, so I dont see how you can justify bashing England for the lack of information the SSC team shared with the NAE team.
@gamblemadman I watched this video to see a car going very fast. I dont believe I deserved to be told that "I would be speaking German or Russian if it wasn't for the US". It is very juvinile to make such a remark I think (or hope) that you would agree.
Perhaps you were just having a 'bad day'. Or perhaps you simply cannot accept critisism of anything 'American built' and respond to this critisism with arrogant and insulting remarks directed at the countrymen of the people you are annoyed with.
@gamblemadman It would seem the Mr self proclaimed xxGeniusxx is quoting Mr Ed Shadle,(NAE driver/manager) of the Brits "Selfish" attitude to not sharing hard earned tech. According to Mr Shadle, because Noble managed to break the sound barrier first, and on American soil, Noble should hand over all his info so Shadle can go faster. Its typical US patriotic paranoia, bordering on the Xenophobic. Im glad Noble's team is going to break 1000mph in another country.
@xxevilgeniusxx Part of the competition within the LSR is for the competitors to find their own solution to breaking the record. If you expect teams to give the US their hard earned tech, just so you guys can copy it and then try to go faster, then weres the achievement in that? If your put out by your misguided view of the brits over this competition, then maybe you might want to read up on how you guys broke the sound barrier first in level flight .....
@xxevilgeniusxx The US broke the sound barrier in level flight, after a supposed information sharing exercise with the British. The British had solved the tail plane instability issue ( approaching Mach 1) with a new design, which we gladly shared with the US as our part of the deal. When it was our turn to visit your shores for you to share information, our engineers were then told everything is classified and not for sharing. Thats gratitude for you.
@gamblemadman The definition of empire may involve seizing new lands, occupying them, and integrating them as done by European Nations. Our way is much more efficient; special forces and CIA support a leader or political group our leadership approves of; old government goes bye bye; new government instilled and spreading of American values; reap resource rewards; make new nation dependent on us; then get our money back bye selling them our old military hardware. Simple and effective. EMPIRE!!!
Don't forget, you'd all be speaking German or Russian right now, and waiting in line at the local soup kitchen writing these comments VIA snail mail...if it wasn't for the US.
Don't forget, the manner by which you are communicating right now over this thing called the internet was invented by us as well.
Don't forget about our 31 Stealthy SSBN Subs, each one capable of putting over 70 475 Kiloton MIRV's any where on the planet in less than 20 min.
@xxevilgeniusxx Lol, are you trying to impress people with your silly "dont forget" statements? You think that people care about anything you have said? "31 stealthy SSBN Subs",are you trying to make a point about something or just being random? Seriously dude, do you even have a point to make about ANYTHING relevant to this video? Sounds like you are desperately trying to make people respect your country and countrymen. Why do you feel the need to try and impress us? Insecure much? Sour grapes?
@gamblemadman I'm proud of my nation, its people, and its accomplishments and I truly love and appreciate them. The United States of America is the finest nation on this planet. No where on earth will you find a more politically, economically, ethnically, and socially diverse Republic. We are an empire greater than any before us; and our military and economic prowess are a force to be reckoned with. Now if we can only get out of this weak politically correct welfare state of a rut we are in.
@xxevilgeniusxx Well, im afraid i dont agree with most of your comment but hey...you are entitled to your opinion.
"greater empire than any before us"? You shouldn't delude yourself, this is the 21'st century and you dont own an empire lol. If your nation wanted an empire then it should have done something about it when 'empire building' was a practical and sustainable way of gaining power.... you missed your chance there pal, but you can always dream. You sound like a British neo-imperialist.
@gamblemadman At the very least we are "imperialistic." I see no issue with this. Perhaps Cultural Imperialism? But I rather dislike labels like Superpower or Hyper-power; they are crude and lack something; they just don't roll of the tongue very well. And for the record; after World War II; Empire building was quite practical; we took the initiative in China well before the war started; and worked our way around the world after wards. The only reason Britain exists today is our doing. :-)
@xxevilgeniusxx So you have managed to completely re-define the meanings of the words 'empire' and 'imperialism'.... good for you lol.
You can trust your own deluded opinions if you want... OR you can face the truth and realise that if the US attempted to establish a REAL empire in the 21st century it would be ass raped by the international community.
Something tells me that this fantasy of yours is a direct manifestation of your personal feelings of inadequecy and insecurity. :-)
@gamblemadman I can think of few things more vile and feeble than relentlessly “probing the depths” to guess what other people are thinking or feeling; while all the time failing to realize that one only needs to look inward when addressing personal character. It is in the nature of men to revere and love the work of men, because hearts and hands like their own have fashioned it; no matter how good or evil it may be.
@gamblemadman There is no wrong in praising the success and glory of ones nation, people, and prosperity; and I have not beguiled my self in anyway. I am fully acquanted with nearly every facet, affair, and even the blunders surrounding any current and past events of my country and much of the world. I have not redefined any word or phrase; my country and its people have.
@gamblemadman Would you prefer the term Global Authority; because we openly refer to our self as a Preponderant entity and our active and passive influence on other nations is second to none.
@xxevilgeniusxx Wow... how dignified of you. It would appear that I have bumped into the textbook defenition of "arrogant cunt".
"preponderant entity"? Is that how you percieve yourself as an individual American? LMAO. Do you think that the success of your morally corupt government is in any way an indication of how important you are as an individual? Sorry to break it to you chief but someone with your 'delusion of grandur' will never be respected by anyone. Simply put... you have no class
@gamblemadman No I was referring to our foreign policy. The United States enjoys a position of preponderance not seen since the Roman Empire. Truman fostered it and gave it a name; and our policy has remained unchanged since.
Hardly morally corrupt; perhaps a bit wayward; our founding principles and ideologies were "Manifest Destiny," and "American Exceptionalism." I'd say we haven't strayed far.
I don't see things outside of my control as good or bad. That sort of thinking breeds injustice.
@gamblemadman Respect is ambiguous. Either earned out of love and admiration or taken through fear. Rarely both. I have traveled to many places in the world; Tian Jin, Xian, Beijing, Rapa Nui, Santiago, Cyprus, Rome, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Marseille; just a few of many; I find that if you are patient and respect others; you receive all of the respect you need in return. Lest you forget compassion is one of our greatest virtues; you should visit Texas, great place, friendly hospitable people.
@gamblemadman I prefer to think of class as one being able to make a point with out resorting to barbaric language or attacking the personal character of the other person; and above all maintaining reason and respecting my fellow person. I think we should all be so inclined to be good to one another. Live here as you would in the here after, yes? If you believe in such things. But don't confuse kindness with weakness.
@bluewinegum So when we say jump and your governments ask how high; it's because they respect us then? "it's better to be feared than loved, if you can't be both."
@xxevilgeniusxx for your education Empire = the territory or countries under the jurisdiction and dominion of an emperor (rarely of a king), usually of greater extent than a kingdom, always comprising a variety in the nationality of, or the forms of administration in, constituent and subordinate portions e.g British empire.... now pray tell how do you come to the conclusion that the usa have an empire????
@xxevilgeniusxx Well you're neither feared or loved by the majority of the world , disliked is more likely. Also i think you'll find that our present prime minister's opinion of our relationship with the usa is more inline with the publics now, as in not too bothered whether we upset you or not. You are the perfect example of why people dislike yanks...uneducated, gobby and blindly believing your country is perfect. dumbass
@bluewinegum That is a classical definition of empire; and that version of an empire is impossible to attain in the 21st century. The modern definition of empire should read more like, a cultural and military expansive preponderant force, without formal territories. Hierarchy is attained through directing international institutions and the world order and resulting stability is one based on military rather than the economy through a preponderant military industrial complex.
@bluewinegum The United States is therefore an empire of limited capability. It dominates the global cultural and economic spheres; but understands military expansionism is not an effective route. The United States is a unilateral economic and culturally dominating force, not a multilateral leader. The US is a military beast with bases all over the world; however with the proliferation of nuclear weapons and the rise of non-state actors, that force is beginning to mean less.
@xxevilgeniusxx and what you are viewing you tube on is called the world wide web....oh who invented that...Sir Tim Berners-Lee now what nationality is he?????? not a yank.
@bluewinegum The Internet was established long before Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau created a web browser. The “Internet” was invented in the United States in the 1950’s to 1970’s at DARPA. They called it ARPANET. The internet is all of the servers and computers connected together. The “World Wide Web” is just something you can do with it. You can also use the internet to play Counter-Strike or send email. The W W W and the Internet are not one and the same.
@bluewinegum If you want to spit hairs you could say that nearly every conflict the united states has fought in has been cleaning up European colonial blunders around the world. Namely your mistakes in the Middle East and Africa; and the French in South East Asia. And the only reason Iran is on such bad terms with the US is because your government fabricated some to get the US to help reinstate the Shaw in the late 1950's because you didnt want them to nationalize the oil industry.
I say! Well done chaps only 43,000 hp and you're 100mph faster than Malcolm Campbell was in 1935. Good work chaps but perhaps if you aimed your sights a little lower. Your making a hell of a mess of the salt. There's a proper team on its way you know.
@b4igetu It's funny because despite trumpeting loudly about how they are aiming for 800mph this piece of shit struggles to reach 400mph. Just ask any of the 6.3 billion people who aren't american; watching you get all loud and shouty (YEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAA, etc etc) and then falling on your face is about as funny as it gets.

The last time I saw a contraption like that it was being passed by Peter Perfect in the Turbo Terrific.

Plucky American's attempt to break the world land speed record with soap box racer.

I say! Well done chaps only 43,000 hp and you're 100mph faster than Malcolm Campbell was in 1935. Good work chaps but perhaps if you aimed your sights a little lower. Your making a hell of a mess of the salt. There's a proper team on its way you know.

Was this the run that bent the back axle?

Yes you are right, you can't wait that long. Eternity is a hell of a long time.

Can't wait till they open it up all the way.
That turbine sounds pretty fricken mean!

This is funny on so many levels. The Englishmen who hold the world record must be laughing hysterically at these foreign people.

@DavidWalker12 At what point was this remotely funny. You Brits need to get a sense of humor.

@b4igetu It's funny because despite trumpeting loudly about how they are aiming for 800mph this piece of shit struggles to reach 400mph. Just ask any of the 6.3 billion people who aren't american; watching you get all loud and shouty (YEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAA, etc etc) and then falling on your face is about as funny as it gets.
doctordrew66 1 year ago
@doctordrew66 The problem with your statement is the fact that the NAE has already passed 400 mph.
