There was a pause, no hitch,Some judges don't know shit! maybe the slight movement in your shoulders, looks like the shoulder position changed a hair, that could be called a hitch, with an A-hole!
Watch the right leg. It is the closer leg to the camera. The bar doesn't stop, rest on the thigh or hitch. If you watch the bar from that perspective it is irrefutable, as the judges said that made the hasty decision back in 1986, it is a good lift. Thank you for your view point and thoughtful words.
There is nothing that Tom did in this lift that is a cause for disqualification as per the IPF rulebook. This includes the body sway at the top, the subtle rebending of the knees, and possible momentary pausing of the bar's upward movement. The beauty of the deadlift is that the only thing that matters is what the bar does. It can never move down and you have to lock it out. This lift fits both criteria. The rules even state that close calls should go to the lifter. Whites Lights!
I think the judges should gauge a lifters technique according with lighter opening attempts and see if ones technique just resembles hitching regardless... I hate to say it but Id flag it as hitching (a micro-hitch) but I seen others with more dramatized "hitches" that were white-lighted.... so I do not know
I agree with alaskanhal that it was a good lift, but I can see how the judges might have mistaken the stall for a hitch. Awesome record breaking lift!!
I watched it a few times, There were at least two near stall points, but watching the bar, it never hitched, It never completely stopped which is permissible but changed speeds twice which is amazing. I didn't think you rested it on thighs or used thighs as inclined plane excessively. I can see how a judge without benefit of instant replay might call it hitching. You have to watch the bar. It was good. Hal..former USPF cat 1 nat. ref

Sorry, two slight hitches will get a world record attempt red lighted. But that is an insane deadlift for a man two times your weight.
