  • SUch a beauitful horse she was not meant to die this way I HATE RANCING

  • who sings this pretty song?

  • The song is called Bell, book and a candle by eddie reader

  • thank you!

  • pretty song. poor eight belles. what a tragedy. i balled my eyes out for 20 mins. when she died. i never met her either, thequinman4. :(

  • pinkybammer: I feel so bad for them! I cry and i didnt even meet her in real life! rip Eight Belles

  • For those who can't understand why people race horses, or why the horses race think of it like track, why do people run? Because we love it. Horses are not dumb creaters, they might not have as much reasoning ability as us, but they are still highly intelligent. If they didn't want us to ride them then they wouldn't let us. The only thing making a race horse run is its bond with its jockey and its love for the sport. Racing horses isn't like cock fighting...

  • shut up.

  • no.

  • yes.... ur such a retard.... ur completly wrong! get a life! and a dictionary to help you make sense!

  • 1. i'm not wrong. you should tell someone exactly what is wrong with what they are saying before defaming him/her.

    2. a dictionary will do little to help someone make cognitive sense. and that is funny coming from someone who uses 'ur.' perhaps you are the one that needs a dictionary. also, a history lesson would be helpful.

    3. it is very classy to use the word retard so bluntly. call me a moron, instead. this would make you only ignorant without being classless and lowly as well.

    take care

  • thank-you for making this video...my friends owned Eight Bells and every time i see a picture of her I cry... so thank-you for making this video...

  • A VERY SPECIAL ONE DizZyDeag!!! :(

  • im with you man. sadly, your comment is being rated down; humans care more about the lucrative business of horseracing and the gambling revenue involved.. the animals are expendable for them.

    cheers to you friend

  • join the cause to bring horse racing to an end

  • 55 HORSE DEATHS IN TWO YEARS AT DEL MAR RACE TRACK 2004-2006 So how many other equine deaths are there every year that go unnoticed in a sport that's largely ignored on a day-to-day basis? Let's just take one track, like Del Mar near San Diego: 55 deaths from 2004-06, says the San Diego Union-Tribune

  • What a beautiful noble champion. This was so

tragic that at first I could'nt believe it.

She will always be remembered as a hero.

    God bless her heart.

  • This is exactly how such an amazing athlete should be remembered. Couldnt have said it better myself.

  • sorry unicorntang5000 i meant to rate u up but i accidentailly pushed thumbs dowb sorry

  • That was so sad. I hate when things end this way. (I was the 7,770 viewer - I feel blessed and you should know that grace and love are present to the owners family, crew and handlers of Eight Belles.) She has an unusual name. I wonder how she was named.

  • ur really right numberonehorse...I mean if you have a thoroughbred or live near one just watch them run...half the time they're doing it for fun not to get hurt and die...(I don't know if that makes sense to others, but it does to me...)

  • I completely agree. This is exactly it. If anyone says we force the horses to race then they have obviously never been around a thoroughbred racehorse.

  • haha. i work at a university agricultural center and see thoroughbred's every week. usually they are there for 'routine' veterinary care... which amounts to bone problems (result of human breeding for racing) and topical complications from whipping. they love being 'athletes' because they really chose that position for themselves, right?

  • Horseracing is a cruel sport people watch to get money. Those who don't watch it for money want to watch the horses run. Very, very, very few people want to watch horses die moments after finishing. If you feel like arguing take it up with someone else.

  • its more then that muzzykharal, a horse was raced to death dont you get it? look into a deeper meaning of it.

  • muzzykharal - burn in hell

  • muzzykharal, you have no feelings! All of us Loved Eight Belle's because she wasso majestetic and pretty and a good horse! Why even comment if ur gonna be so rude. That horse is pretty amazing! AND UR JUST A FUCKING HUMAN!!! GOSH GET MANNERS IF U THINK THAT BOUT A HORSE THEN YOU DONT HAVE TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In before PETA

  • that was very sweet!!

  • did you here that 2 more horses went down in the Rolex today? They hurt themselves on jumps. These sports are NOT WORTH IT! rip eight belles!

  • yeah they are. my horses did a steple chase once, fell down got up and won teh race

  • Accident are gonna happen anywhere, even in pasture. It's unnavoidable.

  • Yes, but when You race a horse that isn't even phisically mature yet, your kind of asking for trouble.

  • Yes that's true, I'll give you that one. And I'll admit that's one thing that I would get involved in to try to get the sport to change. I would like the 2-year-old racing year eliminated. But that being said, these accidents are still going to happen. Maybe not as often, but they will. It's just the nature of the beast I guess.

  • But did you guys know that in July of their 2 year old racing season, a horse born in February would be the equivalent to an 18 year old person while a horse born in June would be the equivalent to a 16 year old person. There are teenagers competing in professional sports all over the world

  • But they're ridden as yearlings, and trained hard before they race. I'm not convinced that that's good for them.

  • Most teenage professionals start before they are even 10 years old. As yearlings, thoroughbreds are taught the basics of the saddle and bridle, and most 2 year olds now dont start until later in the year. 30 years ago they started racing in spring or early summer, yet they didnt break down as often and had longer careers. What is up with that?

  • First of all, to compare humans and horses is not wise. Anatomically, it's an entirely different scenario. Horses are 1000+ lb. animals running on legs that at their thinest points are as thick as a human wrist. Secondly, racehorses have always broken down. It's always been around. And I haven't seen any research that proves that it happens more now than it did before. So I'm not entirely convinced. What I think is happening is that when a break down occurs, it is much more on the forefront...

  • because of the media and the technology today. And it may very well be happening a little bit more. I don't know, no one seems to be able to prove it though. And if it is, I'm starting to agree with the theory rooted in the breeding trends today. I think it's very possible that many breeders are more focused on speed than soundness. But again, that hasn't been proven either. And if it is what the problem is, it's going to take years to fix it. Regardless however, I still think that they're...

  • run at too young an age. And I've heard many a horseman and trainer stand by that as well.

  • you have no feelings at all! this horse ran her heart out! she stumbled due to stress and broke her legs. lets see you run a mile as fast as possible, get second, fall, break your legs, and die right there. If that was you, id spid on your face as you lie there in paint. You stupid jack ass.

  • Nobody else is calling names. People with your attitude make me so sad.

  • People like you are the reason we have animal control laws. You do know Humans are of an animal species. Just because horses are different from humans doesn't mean they should be like property. Animals and humans both live lives. Respect humans and animals equally.

  • fuck you u fuckin idiot, who said i didnt respect animals, i was just sayin u guys are gettin so sad over the death of a fuckin horse. pretty lame.

  • Humans are treating these animals as objects..to make money. We should ban horse racing or seriously regulated it. Personally, i live near a horse track and the trainers do nasty and evil things to horses to make them run faster. And the loser go to the glue factory. Be kind to horses DO NOT race them. Ride then is okay but do not race them.

Be kind to animals-- it is their world tooo.

  • RIP 8Belles RIP

  • To "It's just a horse", I reply: "Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect."~Chief Seattle, 1855. SHE was not 'just a horse' she was a living spirit. I am deeply disturbed by the number of horses breaking down. Even with racing as a family legacy, I believe we need to revisit breeding priorities and look at track surfaces. We need to save these magnificent atheletes!

  • I agree with you...there needs to be improvements made...also simply stopping racing is not good for this breed. They EXTREMELY enjoy running. It's what they were bred for and they just wouldn't be happy any other way. Just watch Eight Belles and Barbaro closely as they run. Ears are alert, tail is held up. They were happy along with all other racehorses. So it isn't simply taking racing or others horse sports away, just improving how we set them up, control them, and perform them. RIP Belles.<3

  • Of course, there are bad trainers as in any other walk of life but I'd like to think that in this day, with the monetary worth of the horses, even the most heartless trainer wouldn't be abusive to the horse. Ruffian and Eight Belles show the love that these horses have for the race, to name only two. I do want to see changes for the safety of them. The horses and the jockeys are among the best athelets in the world, and the most unrecognized (which I've mentioned to the ESPN awards show already)

  • you think they are happy being whipped and put into physical stress and danger? they do it because we force them to do it, anyone who claims a horse is 'happy' to race is just ignorant

  • obviously you have never known a thoroughbred racehorse.

  • I race standardbreds and I know that horses race because they love it,not because they are forced too, believe me it is awfull hard to make a horse race til you make it fun for them. That is what they are bred for and they love it.

  • That is true...and unfotunatley no one can keep that in mind

  • I wish more people understood that

No matter how many times I seem to tell people that they can't seem to grasp it. Those are the people who obviously don't connect with horses on any real level

  • EdudLufetips...I didn't say they enjoyed that I said they need some way to have a constant running routine and racing is the only thing we have for them.

  • wow... what a truly considerate species we are

  • I know you guys may believe by now that I am one who supports racing, but I completely don't. I hate what the people do but the horses have no other way to run their hearts out. They need to wait a couple more years to race them and let them be horses and fully grow.

  • We don't kill these horses. Accidents happen. And this was a horrible accident.

  • directly or indirectly, humans kill the animals.

  • She was the sweetest horse in the field. you go girl! RIP

  • ohh :'( Rest In Peace...

  • So sad :(

  • have some compassion-try to feel what these people are suffering through because of the tragic demise of such a loved animal.

  • it was so sad to see her be euthinized... )':
