  • cool

  • i have one of those in my basement and i thought the place where they make rubix cubes had a malfunction

  • I cant fucking get the square 1 to that stupid fucking pattern from which i would use an algorithm to make it into a cube any advice?

  • What kind of square-1 is this?

  • Lol, I can solve this in 2 minutes. Is that a bad time?

  • i dont understand why 3 is a whole turn? can seombody explain? bcs i think what he did was a 5 . im soo confused! somebody pleae explain

  • Thrawst thank you i solved my square one u are amazing i wanted to properly thank u and ur awsome parity algorithim :D

  • I solved my 3x3 cube yesterday after on and off time of about three months (shut up.)

  • Hey, I'm planning, after I get my S1 and solve it, to make a tutorial like this one. Tbh, I found it a bit vague so I would like to make a clearer guide. I hope you don't mind :D

  • One of my favorite things to do on youtube is search up other people's hobbies. Puzzles. I never thought about collecting puzzles as a hobby. But it's unique and interesting. I didn't know there were so many out there haha.

  • this still doesn't help....does it matter what arrangment the middle segments are in when you place them on top?....of course i can manage to get it into blue and green categories....but it seems like if the adjacent colors are arranged differently then yours then the algorithms would be different..it seems like there are no algorithms for this, but just inuition....at most you'd utilize the 5x5 edge pairing algorithms!

  • @xxxslayerxxx666 Answering questions and issues in order. 1: No, middle layer doesn't matter until the end. 2: Yes different pattern, different algorithm. 3: This comment makes less and less sense as it goes on. If you have more questioned message me.

  • look at the tags...

  • @rubixwiz031 They're calling me a bastard >:O

  • how do you know which side is on top?

  • @Andrewnumba10 because you'll never do an L2, the top side in your left is the top.

  • my scramble somehow managed to get 4 edges connected, it looks so cool

  • Thanks

  • Lol I like this cube xD

  • Comment removed

  • I like you shiny side on 3x3

  • I just bought a super square 1. I've never owned a square 1. Do you have the SS1 and can you please make a tutorial for it?

  • @HowBoutUhpssh your doomed xD

  • this is the most difficult and confusing puzzle i have. i love it.

  • I came up with (I'm someone else did as well) an algorithm for the case you showed with the 2 corners separated by edge with the semi circle @ 5:38 - from that shape place the flat side to the right and do /-2,2/-3,-4/-2,0/ and you will have the semi-circle..

  • rofl i had a completely scrambled sq 1 and i got the semi circle of edges by accident

  • My teacher always has this cube on his desk and i keep trying to solve it but its hard.

  • @pokemonkiller20 your teacher is cool.

  • when trying to get the corners in the correct positions(cube form), if on top the are diagonal from each other but on the bottom they are next to each other, how am i able to get them into the correct positions?

  • I don't get it.

  • chuck norris can figure out this tutorial

  • Is the square-1 hard?

  • did i see a mirror side on your cube? niiice :)

  • Someone has no life I mean look at me watching a video on a square 1 when I don't even have one

  • @nuasha880 Same for me :P But I'm planning on getting one.

  • @nuasha880 IU know have a square 1 and i can solve thank you thrawst

  • @nuasha880 i am doing the exact same thing

  • Can you please make another video on how to solve that L it makes no sense wtf

  • Comment removed

  • @ezarlol i figured out an algorithm for the "L" shape. you put the 6 edge grouping on the left then do -2,0/-3,0/-4,6/0,-3/-2,0/ that was such a pain in the neck or me to do without an algorith. i hope this helps o yah and make sure that the L is on the bottom with the L shape directly to the right of the slash if you need more i help you can ask me to post a video and i will

  • YAY my bro had one and i tried for over a year to solve it and i never knew wht it was called now i found it :D

  • You didn't really explain the "L" edge and now i'm stuck.

  • my square 1 is that crappy one from deal extreme and it broke in the process of solving

  • @RJA10001 order an MF8 one. They are amazing.

  • looks like a bandaged cube

  • @SwissCheese707 It looks nothing like a bandaged cube.

  • @vincentpistelli well in the middle it has the place you cant turn because its connected and thats the basic concept of a bandadged cubeso i dont know if your just in a bad mood or what

  • @SwissCheese707 Only the middle layer. A bandaged cube has only rectangular pieces unlike the square-1. That was the point I was trying to say. I wasn't trying to sound mean, I was being passive. It wasn't meant to sound agressive. I'm sorry if it came off that way.

  • @vincentpistelli ya i guess youre right but still same principles

    kind of

  • where do you get a square 1??? i searched for it on cube4you but i couldn't find it

  • @shreda169 you can get one at cube depot.com

  • BEST TUTORIAL ON YOUTUBE!!!!!

  • I don't have a Square-1 yet, but I plan to get one in the near future... I wonder how much of your tutorial I'll be able to memorize before I get it? XD

  • /=slash - =dash

  • @darkrai87 At Meffert's shop click on collectors items, they have black, White and transparent, but the black one is not as good as the others.

  • @NIKOA53 Well I finally got one on speed cube shop good thing they only had white left! It's an MF8 White. But thanks anyway.

  • Where can you buy a square-1 because speedcubeshop seems to be out and I really want one. I have the rubik's cube craze.

  • And if you solve it wrong, you're back to square one.

  • is this your own method?

  • this part of the video is good, but the actual solving of the cube, he explains it too fast and its 2 hard to follow.

  • i think i finally understand the weird notation

  • where did you get the square 1?

  • @aveltchev because you need to know how to do it and don't do it like him exactly

  • hey what square-1 do you recommend?

  • @StarPower9502 I recommend one from PuzzlePros on Ebay, I got mine a while back and it's awesome :D

  • waste of time. how do you get it into that shape you started out with we don't know.... 1/5

  • @aveltchev, yea aveltchev u have a good point. he should have gave you the "his scramble" algorithm.

  • @aveltchev you are dumb. it doesn't matter how it is scrambled, its the same thing. when you learned the 3x3 did u know your teacher's scramble?

  • @aveltchev ...*beats head into table*

  • i'm looking for a good video on the pariy void cube but they are too fast and bad pedagogy...could youmake one?

  • have the side with the parity in the bottom and do R U R' d' 7 times and you get a normal pll case hope you understand

  • ... i think thats what its all about...

  • cool stuff

check inzane thingz puzzles on You Tube

  • nice video thrawst!

    I just got mine today!!!

  • i had one of these for years and never knew wtf it was... lol and i figured it turns into a cube.....

  • This is so frustrating to me. I had the + and - going the right way in my head and then i screwed them up. Then I had 2/3 of the cube solved and but I keep going back to a non-cube shape. But i will solve this.

  • I have one of these. I've never been able to solve it.

so much harder than a rubiks cube.

  • i know how to solve the super square 1

    its better

  • this is very confusing!

  • then you mess it up and you are back to square 1

  • Good one.

  • @Elliot137 lol

  • @Elliot137 Exactly. lol XD

  • @Elliot137 OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Does anyone know where I can order one of these?

  • ebay.

  • think geek

  • DO NOT order this cube from think geek!!! i did and i got mine today. IT SUCKS!!!!!!!! its impossible to turn, and all of the stickers have already started peelin

  • i dont like this tutorial

  • this tutorial doesn't like you either

  • can you lubricate a square-1?

  • the other guy makes more sense

  • which other guy?

  • that cube is very frustrating, i found one yesterday just lying around, i made it into the cube, got four sides done and all of the other two sides but the small rectangle piece at the top sides

  • japanese color scheme :P

  • It isn't too bad. try playing around with it first. see if that helps.

  • wow honestly so unclear i didnt understand anything

  • when i try turning this foward it doesnt let me

  • horrid tuturial

  • wow you dont really even explain how to get the semi circle... -.-

  • that's because it's really easy, apart from the l shape. everything else is self explanatory

  • Listen to how you/he says "OTHER" at 5:33 ca.

  • I've ordered one of Ebay.

    *waits*

    HURRY UUUP!

  • agreed. this is terribly done too...

  • 100th Rate and 19,000 View!

    Great video Thrawst!

  • It does, you're just thick.

  • i got it to the point where there are two opp edges and two paired then i lost track cos he wizzed through...

  • what is a good time for solving 1?

  • The new WR is 12.5 seconds....

  • Why did you put the word "bastard" in the videos tags???

  • Because video tags are fun :D

  • @GermanCube cuz hes a genius

  • Comment removed

  • @GermanCube Cuz, this cube is a bastard.

  • @GermanCube xD

  • ej everyone

  • reply too NiNjaKaDuBT

  • your right i should

  • Where did you buy square-1 from?

  • marcusduck, you can buy them off of dealextreme(.)com and type in iq in the search and its on their somewhere or thinkgeek(.)com and type in rubiks but on thinkgeek its always sold out

  • The one on thinkgeek looks like one of those cheap knock-off brands.

  • well then go to dealextreme

  • I got my square 1 from ebay and a super square 1 with it only for 20 bucks. it came from china. It is a good square 1 tho.

  • well i went to mefferts and i paid $15 with no price for shipping it just takes two weeks or so

  • i really dont understnand, how to swap pieces, i can never get in the piece i want

  • I have a squre 1 but i broke it apart

  • ok i have the edges in the semi circle but one blue( mine has blue and not green) is not with the blue ones

  • Comment removed

  • you can get these from

    cube4you **DOT** com

  • yea you can but there diy's and u have to stickers for it i think

  • does anyone know the excact alg for when yuo have 1 edge between 2 corners and all the rest edges on 1 side and bottom yuo have 6 corners?

  • are these still available????

  • yes mefferts(.)com it has alot of cool puzzles made by meffert and tony fisher

  • duhhhhhhhh

  • Thrawst, I'm a n00b cuber, and I only have the 3x3x3. I'm choosing between a 4x4x4 cube or a square1 cube. Which would you prefer? Thanks!

  • square 1 has nothing to do with a rubiks cube so id buy the 4x4 before the square 1 if i was u

  • My square one is older than i am. and I'm sixteen. I've only had my 3x3 about four months. it really depends on what you think. Just remember to start with the square one before going to the super square one. Anyway, i would say to go for the square one because its a much newer experience than the 4x4.

  • it takes a noob cuber to get to a great one

  • iamlamp12:

    a great what?

    Square-1? 4x4 Cube?

    Thanks for the response!

  • i'm confused with the negativ numbers like -3,0 ..how do i know whento stop turning the 1st layer?

  • ok never mind..i just figured out that i had to count the edge (1) and corner piece (2) to get the number lol :)

  • Is that a new 25th anniversary cube? I noticed it has silver stickers.

  • how do you lube one?

  • i just sprayed some silicone into the two holes formed by the X

    it worked for me

  • where did u get those mirror stickers

  • Hey..awesome tutorial.

Btw, what square-1 are you using?

    -thx-

  • for the case at 5:41 u can use this algorithm

    (-5,0)/(-2,0)/(5,-4)/(-2,0)/(3 ,0)/(2,-4)/(1,-2)/(-3,-3)/

(position the middle piece in front of you and then do (-5,0)/ and then continue the algorithm

    i hope this has helped

  • once i had that case and I fixed it in 3 moves but damnit i can't remember how I did it.

  • ok YES! i remembered it and it's on a video on my channel, the algorithm for the case at 5:41 is /-2,0/3,0/2,0/ if you hold the piece that needs to be put with the others on the back and the slash mark is on the right of that piece.

    Hope this helped ALOT.

  • It helped, ALOT xD

  • doesnt work and its not on ur video page

    tard

  • im suprised he didnt wite the alg thanks for it

  • Did u lube this'? because it looks pretty smooth

  • I find the square 1 as an akward puzzle to solve

  • Where did you get the Square-1?

  • Read other comments

  • i got 1 on amazon but it moves slow and get stuck a lot

  • the notation is really confusing!

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!! i have had this thing for years and i never have solved it... now i did and i think it has been a life acomplishment lol

  • Where did you get yours?

  • hey man nice tutorial but just to let you know

    / thats a slash

    - thats a dash

  • where buy that?

  • grammar fail! =P

  • my bad lol =P

  • Cube4You, Mefferts, and Rubik's.

I would try Cube4You first, though.

  • i am getting mine from meffert's i hope it is good. i can't buy from cube4you. my dads credit card doesn't work with it.

  • he got his from mefferts

  • umm you know how your sopose to get all edges together and 2 corners touching and a star on the bottem well... i got a melon looking shape and a star on the bottem.

  • this looks a lot harder to do and a lot longer than the 3x3x3

  • dude, i can't do this, i am so confused. i can solve a Rubik's cube, but square one is rediculous.

  • just got mine is da mail!

  • yes

i got the starting shape through pure intelligence

  • if any of you didnt get it i remembered it by positive = clockwise and negative = counter clockwise

  • i found one at value village :) :) :) :) :) :) .

  • DUUUDE.

I'm extra excited because I just solved mine haha.

    Thanks =]

  • those are the easiest algorithms to memorize

    seriously

  • does anyone know where i can get a decent square 1? i have this awful chinese one from cube4you and its not great.
