Gingrich recently proposed anyone on unemployment should be entered into mandatory training - perhaps they could be trained as junior TSA agents. I grew up my first 12 years on an Indian res. No incentive to work. The gov gave us all we needed, but there is no respect for something you don't earn... just like in the ghetto's and public housing.

It wasn't until I moved off the res and went to work as a bus boy in a small restaurant at age 13 that I finally learned the value of hard work and earned income.

I remember the 80s, Thatcher & Reagan pushed for unemployed 'sump', ghettoizing unemployment.

Full employment before then. The idea was to drive down wages by removing safety nets (like retraining).

Conservatives drove down wages & wrecked manufacturing for finance 'trickledown' hype.

There is a HUGE skills shortage ATM. industry is crying out for highly-skilled, social, creative robotics engineers & software designers.

Yet GOP continue using anachronistic & myopic drivel.

Consider populations using freeduino or rep rap as a 'hobby' instead of alcohol & guns, would both be a great new market and generate new industry too.
