Republican's Sandford & Engign are still in office as is David Vitter. An editor of the WSJ said this, to Ken Auletta, "if a conservative politician is caught in adultery we will defend him. Life isn't fair but that's the way it is". This was pre-Murdoch and post Clinton. Imagine what it's like now... with the above named still in office we don't have to imagine. Spitzer was caught b/c he forced AIG CEO Greenberg to resign in 2005 for fraud. The only major financial CEO to do so.
It's great to educate the public. But FYI, it's unethical for a psychiatrist to speak publicly about anyone--especially a celebrity--who that psychiatrist hasn't personally evaluated, and never OK to do so without the person's permission. PLUS Dr. Drew is an internist and addictionologist, NOT a psychiatrist. Unfortunately, Dr. Saltz IS a psychiatrist and a member of the American Psychiatric Association. The APA's Code of Ethics specifically prohibits her from making such statements.
Dr. Drew is an asshole. Spitzer was a terrific attorney General investigating wall street thugs. If he was fucking hookers, whats business is this anyone's?
@iampoopma That is just so lame. He is a CELEBRITY who also has a degree in Psychiatry. A celebrity first, doctor second. Get it? He is really good at maintaining his image: the hair, the voice, the focus, the glasses, the personal attire and grooming. It is all designed to maintain his image so that you think he is the greatest doctor the planet. How many doctors do you know who go to the Grammy Awards? He is just a celebrity w/an opinion. You've been fooled just like all the Dr. Oz followers.
@eqsmooth Besides the fact I was speaking in hyperbole, Dr. Drew does have a degree in medicine and is a practicing physician. And had Gary Busey as a patient, and is thus THE BEST DOCTOR ON THE PLANET :O
@iampoopman Your logic is about as sound as Sarah Palin's. He is a physician special in mental, emotional and addictive disorders, not a primary care physician. Gary Busey has all three disorders. He didn't do heart surgery on Busey. Ya dolt!
@eqsmooth Do you talk to people, or are you living in a wet basement? Sarcasm and hyperbole cannot be interpreted in an e mail, text, you tube comment or tweeting, you little twat. Only an intellectual midget would not properly indicate he was trying to be "funny" with some sort of overused characters such as a god damn wink. ;)
Dr.Drew has a kind of super-empathetic complex about him to where he wants to 'save everyone'. I think he gets on TV for things like this as a way to exploit the medium and get out the message of what he sees as proper mental health, as well as to point out certain warning signs to people who would have otherwise never thought about it.
well he goes on tv everytime a celebrity does something because the people have such a HUGE misunderstanding of what the reality is and he is not doing this for himself he is doing this because we, as a society, need to understand. and who better to explain it than a man who we all admire?
I love Drew Pinsky because he really pushes the envelope mixing entertainment, titillation, professional aura, and simultaneously toes expertly and playfully right on the edge of the defamation, slander, and libel without crossing the line. He is awesome !

I don't think it is a big deal he saw prostitutes if it weren't for how much of his platform was against that sort of thing.

Now Elliot Spitzer works for CNN. Does CNN have anymore credibility? The answer is no.

Dr. Drew is a good man.

People seem intent on looking @ this issue as a moral grey-zone. I understand that compulsion to personalize. But looking @ it objectively...
But the fact is that this man was responsible to uphold the law. He willfully and knowingly BROKE the law.
He didn't just cheat on his wife (that would be purely a moral transgression) but he did it with hookers. THAT is ILLEGAL.
Even if he weren't married I think it would still be a travesty.

Where is Lee Harvey Oswalt when we need him. Spitser deserves a couple of headwounds

I'm relieved that he's as hot as his voice. That's such a rarity. Moreover, he's quite a passionate man.

People may disagree that prostitution is wrong and maintain that it should not be illegal.
But the fact was that he knew it was illegal and did it anyway because it undoubtably felt good.
Take away all the morality/the wife/the family and look @ the cold hard facts.
This was a man whose job it was to uphold the law. He intentionally/knowingly/willfully broke a law.
How could you trust a man who thinks that the law is not applicable to everyone to maintain the law?

I'm a fan of Dr. Drew, but going on TV every time a celebrity does something is a bit much.
