  • i don't what my bird to breed is there a way i can stop them but keep them in the same cage?i don't have a nesting box

  • Hey My budgies are scared of the box but they LOVE each other. What should I do?

  • No animal should be breed period.

  • @moddfemm OK, so I take it that you're pro-extinction of all animals including human ??? Perhaps non breeding in your family tree is a good idea.

  • what if we dont want them to breed and they do anyway? D:

  • can't hear anything

  • What if they do it when u don't know how to breed them? and it come Naturally

  • im planing on get two parakeets. what do i do if they mate becuase i only know how to breed hamsters :(

  • Don't worry everyone. I've read that budgies don't mate unless there is a nesting box or shredded paper in the cage. Unless your willing to care for the babies and find them loving homes, I recemmend not having shredded paper in your budgies home.

  • i wish they'd get rid of thesse videos!

  • are you a certified avian specialist??

  • @JoniStudent25 not even close to one

  • where the hell is this? i want to get some budgies.!!!

  • ahhaha buttershoes

  • Laura is an idiot. and totally ignored just about 99 percent of what you need to know in budgie breeding. And those birds in the background are overcrowded.

  • @flippersthedolphin 100% agree with u

  • Always keep your females in a large flight cage. If the females get plenty of exercise then you will have no problem with egg binding. I always keep my females together in a large cage and they fly all the time. I've never had a female that became egg bound.

  • hi just need advice my male and female ar corting for about a month now they kiss feed each other and cleen each other i just dnt no why i havent had eany babies yet my female is about 3 months old and my male is 6 months could this just be cos ther still yonge pleas help thanks..miniman@rock.com

  • @kingalastair123 That is correct. Your birds are too young. They should be at least a year old or more before you try to breed them. You will have better results. Be sure that your female gets plenty of exercise prior to breeding. This will assure that she will not become egg bound. Good luck.

Ps. A budgie has to be 1 year old before it could reach sexual maturity.

  • nice!

  • if you dont have exspirience how do you get it theres always a first

  • This video doesn't give a minimum age for breeding budgies. Male and female budgies are able to reproduce at six months of age but are not physically / mentally mature. They should be bred only between the ages of 18 months to four years. Breeding budgies that are too young or too old increases the risk. Breeding budgies is not all fun and games; the chicks can die and it is hard on the parents. Be careful, and research thoroughly.

  • these videos with subtitles are great also for non native English speakers, when we don't recognize a word spoken, we could read it.

  • Many people don't want any birds to breed cause egg binding is a MAJOR problem not kidding. The bird's most important system stops and the egg is stuck . Many owners parakeets died of this belive me, it's really irriatating having the thought that you will have a dead female knowing it's your fault. It's very disapointing having a tame budgie, your best friend dying.:(

  • if you are considering breeding your birds make sure you have more nest box's than required and give them liquid calcium in the water ans also cuttlefish as they need soluble and insoluble calcium supplements, get some crushed shells from you pet shop.Minor surgery on birds usually doesn't work so try to prevent the problem to begin with.

  • you guys stop making fun of her niggers.

  • ahhahhhaa u suck ur mostly wrong u need to have them almost/the same age budgies to breed and they need to bond with eatchother to have eggs and most eggs will be firtle but some will be infertle

  • i have a question...i bought a girl budgie and wated until it was old enough to mate...then i bought a boy budgie that was around the same age as her. now my guestion was the girl is doing all of the loveing and singing to the boy, not the other way around... why is this?

  • sometimes the male just isnt interested in breeding:(

  • i agree. lol ive been waiting ages for this 1 male to find his mate and want to raise a family. now he has 6 eggs due any day now! 4 are fertile. patience is the best key :)

  • Dear the camper, sometimes the female may do the singing for unknown reasons otherwise it may be because of the fact that sometimes the male may look like a female or the female may look like the male i'm not positive either my budgies both sing to eachother so i don't know

    -kennroo22

  • @thecamper909 I had the same issue. I have a feeling that the girl tends to mature faster than the boy, in some cases, and therefore is ready to be courted (especially if she's been without a companion for a while). I gave my budgies three months and the boy finally came around. This post was 2 years ago, so I'm curious to know how they're doing now! :)

  • May be mother of devil >.>

  • first time owner help me!!!!!!!!!! will soemoen message me and help me

  • PAUSE AT 0:27 HAHAHAH LOOK HER EYES!

  • yeah lol i sa w eyes blink different time xD

  • my bugie doest lay an egg but her butt is so huge, wat shud i do?

  • dont touch her.. might leed to a miscarage or death...

  • if the but is big i heard that they become egg bound

  • how to compare male parakeet from the female parakeet?

  • male blue cere female brown cere

  • thanks for the video planning to get my parakeet a partner this summer

  • hey can anybody tell me if you can still breed budgies if u hav a female and 2 males in the same cage?

  • You really shouldn't. The males will fight for her and have the potential to kill each other if they really need to in order to become her mate. if she chooses one mate over the other, there will be obvious jealousy issues where again, any one of the birds including the female could get injured.

  • If you don't have experience raising baby Budgies, DON'T BREED YOUR BUDGIES. Never breed birds of any kind without experience. As for egg binding, that is MAJOR surgery. It is a serious problem & a strong chance you will lose your bird. Unless you are training for a career in breeding birds, just keep them as pets & stay away from breeding. Trust me, failure is a high probability & it is heart breaking to lose a baby or your female bird knowing its your fault.

  • @parrotflock i agree with u sort of but how r u going to learn how to do it if ur saying u need experience first once u do it u gain experience so u have to try

  • @Parakeettips147 You get experience by finding an experienced breeder and learning from them. Many are more than willing to teach you in exchange for help with their birds. You learn all you need to know the best way possible. Just be sure to pick a reputable breeder, since you don't want to learn the wrong way to do things. So, no, trying is not the best way to go.

  • @parrotflock if my bugie layed an egg can i leave the egg alone

  • @khazashark Yes, I would suggest leaving the egg be for a couple of weeks, then throw it out. That is, as long as there is no chance it is fertile. If you only have the one Budgie, then there is obviously no chance of that. Otherwise, you should check the egg by candling it to see if it is fertile. If it is, you should read my articles on hand feeding babies on examiner.com. I am the National Parrot Examiner there.

  • @parrotflock You budgie don't need surgery. Just move it to the bathroom(best place), Next keep the shower running to make the room humid so the mother could pass her egg. (This is useful because the egg might break inside the mother budgie, causing an infection.) Then supervise her at all cost. If the egg is laid, congrats! Your budgie laid an egg. But if it lasts for hours, then you need to call the vet. Which is what you were explaining. So, me and you made our point.

Got the info from a book.

  • @parrotflock

How you gain experience if you have never done it before?

    Good question, ehh?

  • i got another question for the more experienced breeders. when my green budgie stopped throwing my blue budgies eggs out of the nest she had 2 eggs left i waited for about 22 days now and they didnt hatch and i think their not going to but im not sure i candle lite them and they were fertile in the begining stage and fallowed all the right steps, now she already started to lay more eggs so should i take out the other two eggss in there or take them out?

  • surgery for a parakeet

  • i have a parakeet that has boy and girl colors on its nose and its 5 years old. does anyone know how to tell if its a boy or a girl?

  • i male has a blue cere and afemale had brown...

  • I know but my bird has blue and brown on its cere.

  • is the brown part crusty looking? Then it's a boy... but if it's a youngin sometimes their cere's are still blue. From wiki.. I'm no bird expert... LOL

  • i got a question for more experienced breeders. i got two female and two males with two nest boxes but both females want the same nest bow and are laying eggs in the same one. i caught the two female in the nest box myself. Each one keeps throwing eachother eggs out. what should i do?

  • keep the pairs in seperate cages or buy a larger cage and have more than 2 nesting boxes.

    -goodluck

  • they already are in a big cage and i bought another nest box yesterday so i think it should fix things.. i saw the other female checking it out last night but who knows and thanks

  • what if the male does not sing to the female but they are compatible

  • sliceit the female has a pink nose or b rown/tan nose. The male has a blue nose. The baby has the purplish pinkish nose or white

  • I mean is it required

  • When your parakeet gets pregnant,do you need a nest box

  • waizou is right

  • Someone PLEASE message me that is experienced with parakeet breeding

  • Someone PLEASE message me that is experienced with parakeet breeding

  • Yes...

  • Breeding two budgies 'to make them happy' is a VERY bad idea. Shame on Expert Village for promoting such an irresponsible act... animals should be bred for betterment of the species or breed, not because someone wants 'to make their bird happy' or see the miracle of life. there are other ways of keeping your parakeet or other psittacine happy and engaged.

  • what if there r 5 budgies 3 males i think and a female and were not sure what da baby budgie isz.help me

  • ok...the baby budgie is the one with the pink nose. the male is the one with the blue nose and the female is the one with the tan or brown nose

  • i dont breed with my budgies i play with them alot so they would think of eatch other like friends not mates

  • I had my parakeets breed and it was very sad. She could not feed all of them, and one was born with an abnormality. We had to feed another one of them back to life. But when he became independent, the mother would harm it because it was not "hers" anymore. Eventually, we had to split up the family to maintain the peace.

  • hhow old was your mother budgie please?

  • She was young: three years at the most. It was a long time ago.

  • lol, by the way the Budgies have to be atleast 1 year of age. for this to happen. And provide them with good mixture of food. seed as well as fruites, ( not avacado, apple seeds, chocolate and alcohol) .. and provide a good breeding box. and your Budgies will breed about 5-7 times a year and about 4-6 or even 7 eggs per clutch. good luck.

  • where the fuck is Sara!!!!!!!!!!

  • just like tyhat? u just put them in the same cage and they breed?

  • "Otherwise she will die", jeez! don't believe in miracles? lol

  • my grangdad has two parakeets when he got then the female was scared of going in the breeding boxs but she went in and she has not come out i can not hear her and when i go up there to see them the male jumps on top of the breeding box and trys to attack me does that mean she as eggs

  • EGTF

  • i have some parakeets but mine i can not get them because they are scare from us and they are yous fiding
