wow, 15 hours a week. i'm a 16 year old kid, a full time year 12 student, and doing an extra course + a job that i work more than 15 hours a week and I still manage to pick up after myself.

kids may throw stuff on the floor but they dont create the filth. the filth comes from never cleaning something that gets dirty in the first place and it builds up. you have to nip it in the bud when its a small mess so this doesnt happen. parents should make cleaning a fun activity for their kids so when they are older it wont be hard for them to keep the habits.
I hate to hear people say that a) it's the kids' fault or b) "I have kids. I don't have time to clean." When my kids were little, the house was spotless and it didn't take that much time. If you stay on top of stuff, it's not a huge chore that takes all weekend. It was worth it for my kids to have a clean house to live in.

She works in a job where there are set procedures for everything and everyone puts things back where they go and there's proper tools and space for everything. In her own home she had none of that kind of guidance and support and she had two kids cluttering things up. Hard to be motivated to do anything when mess is created behind you as you go so it never looks like anything's been done.

yeah maybe. But ok.. there are 24 hours in a day, right? So for 2 of those hours, she's making breakfast, putting lunches together, getting kids off to school. Then another 8 hours she spends at work cleaning all day. So that's 10 hours. She gets home, makes dinner, plays with her kids, homework, bedtime, another 4 hours. If an adult is supposed to sleep for 8 hours and average 1 hour for errands/bills, that leaves her exactly 1 hour for housework every night after the kids go to bed.
now for that 1 hour, she has a choice. She can either do something for herself for the first time that day. or she can put more energy into cleaning house. I mean, the state of things is inexcusable but parents are humans. Not fucking slaves.
No, parents are not slaves, but they have responsibilities, I am a Mother of three, one of the children has a disability which requires extra attention, and I homeschool on top of that, but my house is clean. Yes, the children have to have responsibilities as well, so it is also the Mothers responsibility to see to it that they do their part of the house chores. Also, there is no need for that type of language, you can make your point without it.
I've wondered that myself, I too have very long hair from seeing how it's pulled up in the front I think its her natural hair, but indeed must be very long!

I feel for this woman, She seems to want to turn her life around. It is terrible for the kids to be in such an environment, but to this woman's credit, she has reached out for some help in spite of facing potential 'judgement' from the public.

the kids have to much energy! my guess would be the answer lies in what you are feeding them love. Check the kitchen for ready made dinners, processed food and things you are frying up for them.

@shatterthestereotype She grew up in a home where her mother organized all the cleaning. She works in a job where there are set procedures for everything and everyone puts things back where they go and there's proper tools and space for everything. In her own home she had none of that kind of guidance and support and she had two kids cluttering things up. Hard to be motivated to do anything when mess is created behind you as you go so it never looks like anything's been done.

yeah maybe. But ok.. there are 24 hours in a day, right? So for 2 of those hours, she's making breakfast, putting lunches together, getting kids off to school. Then another 8 hours she spends at work cleaning all day. So that's 10 hours. She gets home, makes dinner, plays with her kids, homework, bedtime, another 4 hours. If an adult is supposed to sleep for 8 hours and average 1 hour for errands/bills, that leaves her exactly 1 hour for housework every night after the kids go to bed.

No, parents are not slaves, but they have responsibilities, I am a Mother of three, one of the children has a disability which requires extra attention, and I homeschool on top of that, but my house is clean. Yes, the children have to have responsibilities as well, so it is also the Mothers responsibility to see to it that they do their part of the house chores. Also, there is no need for that type of language, you can make your point without it.

They said she cleans 15 hours a week not works if she's in a kitchen as a cook out of a 40-50 hour work week about 15 hours are cleaning....but that's no excuse that's disgusting. No matter how much you work ....bleh

you cant blame the kids for this! when you have children yes a messy house is going to come with them but it's there responsability as parents to keep the house clean and safe enough for the kids and teach them how do simple chores from a young age so as they get older they can help with the cleaning and the hosue will never get to be this bad! my mother does this to me and my sister and its so unfair blaming her pack-rat-ness and that fact that no one ever got rid of our old toys on us -_-

I am surprised social services havent been involved. She is not taking care of her kids properly, its dangerous for them to live like that, especially the state of the fridge/oven etc they can get sick eating food from there. Poor kids. I dont know how anyone can live like this, its just lazyness.

my friend just had a baby 4 months ago. I come over to her house and its a mess- she blames in on the 4 month old. she's always been messy, but would clean when i would come to visit, since i only come a few times a year, but this time she didn't bother to clean
