  • The problem is this will never come to market and if it does not at price the common man can afford. It's cool I would love to have one but I am the common man, sorry it's destine to be a rich mans toy at best. Like the Segway

  • we need lanes for small vehicles and motorcycles, one of the biggest deterrents to driving something like this is getting squashed in traffic by a 5 ton SUV.

  • price???

  • Guys like this impress me and make me sad at the same time. I am impressed by their creation but saddened that next to them I am a chimp who can put on pants either standing or sitting "(

  • i would drive one

  • Yeah...that's perfect for North Dakoya in February, or Calgary, or ANYWHERE in Canada. It has a wiper blade, no?

  • You have the right idea and the right design. Motorcycle class vehicle or and inclosed 3 wheeled car.

  • yea, but damn you get hit its a wrap fuh yo ass!!!

  • now why didn't someone think of this before cars. Why didn't the guy who made cars think about pollution and high prices? It'll take a long time to transition to electricity

  • Not only would you get hit by a large truck or a 18 wheeler, if you drove this on a street, if it snows like it does in most places, this thing will be useless.

  • this gets hit by a gmc suv there will be plastic pieces spread out for miles.

  • This is awesome but only 1 question to me really comes to mind... WILL IT BLEND?

  • This is the perfect travel to work vehicle. Where I live, 99% of the electricity is green. So this is it, I am looking to buy one soon. The money I will save on gaz at $4.60 a gallon will pay for it in no time.

  • yea, it's supposed to be energy saving cuz it uses electricity to run the vehicle. but c'mon, think about it, where is all this electricity coming from? it's a good design, but i just feel that if we were to really save the Earth, we need to redesign the whole power system, not just the vehicle.

  • Hi. I find it odd that you can figure out how to make this ride do almost everything except be affordable. I realize everyone has to get their "cut" but its funny how nothing can be made that doesn't cost close to 6 months salary. At least for seniors and most of us low income people. But the rich like it.

  • Absolute fantastic ! But Can i afford one?

  • how come only electric cars get these crazy design??

  • fucking gay

  • banshee from halo.... I bet nitrous is the turbo!

  • until society changes youth prospective from bling bling and fast cars with boom boom systems none of these ideas will achive the desired or apreciated effect for consumers.

  • молодец! Russia

  • this is wonderful and looking very fast

    pls. lookat our hp

    project-london-delhi point com

diffrent but also interesting, I hope so

  • I dont want to "cars" like this to take over the world!

I mean i know what a gasoline powered cars do to put planet but still they are CARS!

and every gearhed knows what im talking about!

  • this is really cool... but there is one major problem... what about big and very small people? i weigh 300 pounds... and tbh, that looks impossible for me...

  • so its an electric gokart with

  • We need one of these with wings, then we will be closer to Halo :D

  • @sasapaljenka

    You mean:

WHAT ABOUT family members?: There's only one SEAT.

    WHAT ABOUT winter?:

WHAT ABOUT WHAT ABOUT WHAT ABOUT Not WHAT IS WITH.

I'm 14 years old and yet my English is better than yours, and that point shows how dumb you are.

  • @sasapaljenka

    You mean:

WHAT ABOUT family members?: There's only one SEAT.

    WHAT ABOUT winter?:

WHAT ABOUT WHAT ABOUT WHAT ABOUT Not WHAT IS.

  • Looks interesting - but not finished!

What's with a family members? There's only one sit!

    What's with a winter? It's opened!

What's with the rain? It's opened!

  • Free Market At It's Finest

  • at 2:06 he was like: "Awwwwww yeeeeaaaahhhhh......"

  • do you need a license? :o

  • Excellent...Some people can't see the years of thought and work that has gone into this,so give the man some credit, the only work some of you do is push keys on a keyboard to bag someone..

  • that thing cant be road legal O_O

  • homo

  • What about the specs? how far can it go on a charge? how long does it take to charge?

  • Very cool video production for a very cool vehicle. This is a safe vehicle for the 21st century, when all the big dinosaurs will be off the road and the only thing you could collide with is another vehicle of the same minimal mass and velocity as your own. In the meantime, drive defensively!

  • Brilliant solution for a more visible rear end profile for such a narrow vehicle . Im still woking on 1 as well. Its a no brainer here in New Mexico . Plug charging in concert w/ solar .

  • I need room for the dogs and groceries , 8)

  • This design has no collision protection for the driver.

These vehicles are therefore very unsafe and could cause tremendous injuries.

I hope these "designers" have lots of cheap legal help.

  • I would need a place to put my djembe and pack.

  • lol it looks a bit like a banshee from halo :)

  • totally

  • @bibbon342 no freakin way u saw that to lolololololololololololol

  • Comment removed

  • @bibbon342 I hope they have purple available

  • get an electric motorcycle- even more efficient and far cooler. i like where this guy's heart is, though.

  • Awesome, I love it !!!

    Greets from the Netherlands, iT

  • This thing is pretty cool.

  • Something like this wouldn't work everywhere , of course. But it's a start. I think the next best energy efficient car will be all electric and be chargeable from your home.

In fact, they can do this now. Why haven't they done it yet? Too much money to make selling car parts and gasoline.

The fact of the matter is, all electric cars will kill the profits of all the repair shops and filling stations. But we can't burn gasoline forever.

  • OOooo! Somebody has reached his own middle age without having accomplished ONE FARKING THING, hasn't he?

  • More than you have, dumbass.

  • HAHAHAH U 21Century Humans Are Something Else If U Want To See More Futuristic Cars or Other Future Type Stuff Go To This Site Cause Pretty Soon Us Humans Will Be Living Sci-Fi To Reality

    psipunk . com

  • i like it, take the top off ...throw a golf bag on the back ...and hit thwe course!

  • almost worth my time. put a couple guns over the wheels and you might have something.

  • if you can put your stuff anywhere like grocerys and you cant have anyone els ride in it with you to me that seems a bit useless for the modern peron these days weomen have purs where to put them? a big tren is big pures or those walmart type economicle bags cant fit in lag and drive so whats the point it just seams like a toy for recreation but forgive me its my opinun not yours

  • i dont see how you got thumbs down!?...cuz your right!

its an ingenious design but just not practical for everyday use. its perfect for handicap people who dont want to get wet but not something that would be safe on public streets.

its like a top of the line "hover-round" wheelchair.

if it had a moped engine it would be perfect for places like china.

  • oh buge, youre the one lol. id take this for work and then another trike with a hayabusa motor just for fun. cancel that, id just take the fast trike... screw 1 cent per ml.

  • well this wouldnt work in Canada lol

  • He may be a qulaified designer, but is clearly noy a qualified marketeer - boring!! Show us the freaking cehicle already while you're atalking!

  • ¡Perdón... el diseño que propones existe desde el año 1970!... sólo basaste tu diseño en un concepto prexistente... osea una copia mejorada?....

  • I think this would be a grate product if it had something like a 50cc two stroke with a turbo in it, and a CVT transmission, like a high end Vespa scooter.

  • the way i see this is if it cant pick up lets say a sheet of ply-wood or go for a road trip across canada or the us let alont get a case a coke its fricken useless

  • $3500 for that and you have to assemble it. Ha! No thanks

  • Comment removed

  • It's more like $5,000 with lights, shipping, and batters. I would get it if it was 3,500 with everything. And I like to billed stuff so I like the fact that you do that yourself. I way you have to look at it for it to make scenes is to compere it to a high end rode bike.

  • looks a 'little' like Boba Fett's Slave 1

  • Yeah but this little baby looks better than a motorcycle & it protects you from the rain! Super sweet design. Aerodynamic vechiles gives a car a lot more speed &

uses less gas so why aren't more made this way?

  • I thought all that stripped down social responsibility that was still sexy was called a "motorcycle" or sport bike = )

  • Until they have separate lanes for ultra-light vehicles

... I'm allergic to being dragged 17 miles under a truck

... and the truck drivers didn't even notice

  • I like that. I hope it doesn't cost $20,000. That's what they do these days. They make a car smaller but the price stays the same.

  • You're on the right track..but be careful hanging out with Californians they also suffer from too much sun exposer effecting rational thinking..dude

  • it looks kinda neat but I live in Northern NJ, that would be stolen in like 5 mins, lol

  • Efficiency IS sexy! Be gone, you toasters and refrigerators on wheels! (Especially YOU, Cadillac Escalade and YOU, Hummer H2)

  • Shouldn't mention Toasters. Using your heater doesn't affect your cars' performance.

(It just takes heat off the engine)

  • The inventor says that many cars today LOOK like toasters and refrigerators - like the Hummer for example... It is a non-rational way of designing a car, since it conflicts with the forces of nature, in this case it brings unnecessary wind resistance.

  • sexy?? Ahhh.... don't think so.

  • Crash Test 0/0

  • I have had one of Marks other designs (Gizmo) for over 5 years. It is not intended to replace your typical family car but is a great "runabout" with sufficient amenities for errands or to deliver a person to their destination. Add to that, a penny per mile and the fact that ownership is optional and I fail to see what reason there could be to resist such a product. Peace.

  • Moron.....All that design, expense & chest thumping- you still get a wet arse in a storm.

  • Does it also carry a small dog and a couple of bags of groceries home? Otherwise, it's just a toy.

  • In the nose one can carry 4 bags of groceries. Regarding the dog, one could maybe mount a doggie carrier on the back of the seat. One of the neat things about the BugE is that one can easily customize it to ones needs.

  • Okay! How much does it cost...and where can i test drive a BugE?

  • I think it runs around $6,000 depending on what components you use. Check with Mark Murphy of Blue Sky Design for test drives.

  • I get it. Nice work. Looks great! Now, as for the technical side.............I guess that's pretty easy to come up with these days. That design looks like something out of Halo2 only yours doesn't fly. Cool!

  • OK OK it's not bad, not going to be as popular as a segway for example...

I just hate self-righteous designers.. comparing it to a model-t? my qualifications? my obligations to the world/environment..?!!

Give us a break (and get rid of the stupid hat!)- be a little more humble when your invention is no where to be seen, and isn't going to save the planet..

  • Thank you, Mark Murphy! Please continue the noble work that you do. I hope BugE will be commercially available in the version that is road legal soon!

  • couple of things i'd want in that thing.

    1. a complete roll cage.

    2. heavy enough and large/wide enough so i can go shopping in it and come out and it still be there, and not end up on the back of someone's truck. lowjack

    3. a longer, higher windshield case for visibility on the road.

    4. a bucket race car seat firmly attacked to the roll cage, with seat belt.

    5. you never went into the electric part of it.

  • shakaama - after all your alterations, it'll be far too big, far too heavy and the size of a small car thereby cancelling out the whole point of this vehicle.

  • this doesn't appear safe. the in between a bicycle and a buik isn't a teacup.

  • IMO, America switching back to a "strong dollar" policy would be more socially responsible than this electric car.

Gas isn't expensive, the US dollar is being devalued at an epic rate due to Bush and the Federal Reserve putting the printers into overdrive.

How else do people expect them to pay for wars AND grow the size of government WITHOUT raising taxes. ;)

That being said, this car is cool insofar as it is kind of like modern day Peel P50. All it needs is a moped engine. :)

  • you sir are smarter than the average bear. let's be friends.

  • its bascially a empty haul/boat with wheels, wow wouldn't thought of puttin wheels on a boat. hope this concept doesn't come through.

  • Hey, when it comes to being serious about reducing oil and greenhouse gas, I'm voting with my dollars. I'm not going to support the oil companies any more than I need to. So I'm in the process of putting a kit together. The parts provided plus what I'm adding in look like they will make a fine vehicle. Putting it all together is a bit of work but I suppose anything worthwhile is like that.

  • thats an interesting lookin vehicle! he should try makin one with closed cabin though.

  • Great !!!

  • I tried to research this thing on your website but it's pretty much a dead end. So put your art school credentials aside and get it working. I'm looking to buy one.

  • Adding miniture windmill generators on each side of it would possibly create enough of energy to re-supply it's usage, therefore making the BugE free from having to plug it into an external energy source.

  • Yeah, the laws of physics sort of prevent that.

  • It's stupid the argument of people criticizing it haven't space or is dangerous. Say that to the people who buy a enzo ferrari which doesn't have electric glass, when it hits something is transformed in 1 million pieces and is so expensive as 1 million $ AND YOU CAN'T CARRY ON AN CUCUMBER.

  • thats your point, youre funny.

A Ferrari will save your life if you get rear ended, this bug wont, you will be crushed !!!!

    that was my point

  • Right! And we know how often we all get rear ended. Every day right? No. Same goes for people who say, "Heck! I can't haul furniture in it!" How often do you move furniture or bring home a 52" HDTV? That's not what this is made for.

This vehicle is perfect around your community. In zones where the speed is less than 45 mph, not in high traffic, high speed areas. You gotta get your perspective right.

  • I would not want to be in this thing when it get hit by a Buick doing 45 MPH.

  • @thescooterscoop here here!!

  • @thescooterscoop You do have a point but there is a problem which negates the point of the vehicle... It is supposed to be "green" but in order for an electric car to be classed as "green" you would have to charge it using electricity from natural sources. If you plug it into the mains and your electric comes from a coal power station you have't really helped. lol I'm not trying to be an git, I am just pointing out an unfortunate problem these vehicles have.

  • @dagenhamdave1 I agree! BUT, it is a step in the right direction. You plug a car into a coal generated electricity today and you're one step closer to plugging into solar generated electricity tomorrow.

  • @thescooterscoop Rent a car from zipcar, getaround, or hertz for those needs or simply ship it home~

  • OK BLAH BLAH FUCKING BLAH I want oneeeeeee!!!!!!

where can I go and buy one already?!!!! Fucking gas prices are making me choose between food or gas. Can't take the fucking BUS cuz it ates 4 and a half hours of my day! Cant go to school and work using the sucky-ass publict transportation in LA FUCKKKKK!

  • People like that guy are awsome. Some day idea's like his will be needed badly. I wish americans would stop worrying what others think and start driving stuff like this or small motorcycles/scooters. It makes no sense to fight wars for oil.

  • There are no wars being fought for oil. Gulf War 2 is about alot of things, but it's not about procuring oil. We have trillions of barrels of oil on american soil. We don't need to invade sovereign nations to get it.

Vehicles like this make very little sense for most people. It only carries one person, there's absolutely no room for gear or any other payload, it's incapable of cross country travel, it's worthless in the snow and in the cold, and it's dangerous as hell in traffic.

  • Its an Idea thats all, people like him make cool things happen. I would drive one if I lived close to work. When ideas like the AFS Trinity XH-150 come out you can drive a Ford F150 or a Chevy silvarado and I will drive a Trinity. Have fun with that (4.50 a gallon)

If the war isn't about oil than why not attack Korea who actually admitted to building nukes??

  • I don't like Chevy's or Fords...I drive a Toyota Tacoma.

The reason we haven't gone after North Korea is that it's not politically feasible. Sadaam Hussein was friendless. Had been thumbing his nose at the UN for years. He had invaded a neighboring country, massacred hundreds of thousands of his own people, and had fallen out of favor with the international community. He was a target of convenience in the current administration's war on islamo-fascism. It was never about oil for Mr. Bush.

  • I am not so sure we are not fighting over oil its one of the most important commodities in the world. Besides that oil is a monopoly of sorts for transportaton and having other options is always good. We are paying 4$ a gallon for gas and the oil companies are raking in record profits because they can. I do not buy into the whole global warming thing because of the radical agenda's involved but corporate greed I am sure of and that our congress runs off bribes I am equally convinced also.

  • I think we were fighting over oil in the sense that we were trying to keep it (or at least the revenue generated by it) out of the hands of international terrorist/enemies of the state.

The US isn't making a cent from Iraq's oil fields...the interum Iraqi government is controlling those revenues. Most of it is going toward the rebuilding effort.

We don't need the middle east's oil. Believe me (I'm a friggin' geologist) we have trillions of barrels sitting untapped within our own borders.

  • America has its own oil? LOL cmon man, almost all the oil companies here in Canada are American, dont tell me you can get all your oil from american soil.

  • yea it looks REAL aerodynamic... love how its cut off in the back... I wanna see drag coefficients.

  • I expect a vehicle of this sort can address a market niche but for the most part a time tested solution already exists that better tackles the challenges intended for the BugE.

It's cheaper by far, cleaner, easier to park, has room for cargo, doesn't require insurance or registration and is also much healthier for ya. Introducing the ideal short hop vehicle for the 21st century: the bicycle.

  • Efficient...probably....practical? Give me a break....if it never rained, we never bought groceries, or never had families....then these things would work.

  • The BugE is not for everyone or everything. But I think it can be a very efficient and practical vehicle for commuting shorter (or not too long) distances.

  • Well, thats what the scooter market is for. Plenty of choices out there like the Honda Ruckus for example...

  • looks cool at first but then when u think about it what if you get hit by a car and whare or how can you park it with out it getting stolen ranover by other cars and how dose it cope with hills i live in a very hilly area and i dont think that will cope the consept is good but it is not practical or safe and persnaly i wood just ride a bike

  • I see the comment/question 'what if you get hit by a car?' for many lightweight alternative vehicles.

Well, that would probably be painful. But it would be painful with a moped or a scooter or a bicycle as well. I guess we have to try to avoid that situation :-)

  • Or, how about just driving a frigin car!?

  • sure buy the gas for me?

  • it just needs a little cargo space on the back. even my bicycle has room for two grocery bags.

  • It has a space in the front. On their site it says the space in the front can hold 5 grocery bags, if I remember right.

  • Great concept - since he has designed it cost effectively; good efficiency, good looks. Have driven electric motorcycles, and this makes more sense - to me.

  • only 2 reasons the carver looks more appealing to me: This has no storage space and this guy said "sexy".

  • where can we get one? and can you make one for a Mom of 3? Sure a bit bigger, but same shape and it will cost a bit more to run, but many with familys want a car like this, if the kids can fit, and grocerys!

  • I ride a motorcyle and the older I get the more worried I get about people hitting me...A lot of the time they cannot see you..I like that design he done on it..

  • I know a guy who drives on of those.

  • Is he still alive or dead? Can you imagine getting hit in one of these?

  • It is legally a motorcycle. Can you imagine getting hit on any kind of motorcycle? You have to be alert & aware of your surroundings when driving, especially on a MC.

  • "I hope there is a need because times are changing. Socially responsible." When you try to sell it please remember to advertise benefits. Sexy and S.R. sure, we also need to know. Autonomy, speed, comfort, cost. I hope you sell it.

  • What is it? where do you put your shopping or briefcase? wheres the radio? wheres the room for the newborn? the five year old ? the AGED, the infirm, the blind or Handi-capped? We are not ALL white 40yo healthy americans, other types do exist and must be catered for.

  • nor has he implied that the vehicle will cater to all those people. it is a design based on certain principles that are universally advantageous. I am quite sure that other models do, and/or will exist to cater to those other various needs, all the while retaining the advantages of which he speaks

  • Yeah that's why no-one ever rode horses.

    oh wait

  • Do you need a 4000lb SUV to drive yourself to the store every time or do you always take the AGED, the blind and the newborn with you? The electric SUV's are coming, be patient. You'll be able to menace other members of society in good time Sir.

  • Sure, but once you get to the store, how are you going to carry anything home?

  • I like it!

  • its certainly as ugly as a model t

  • Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find the concept and the nice clean lines very attractive.

  • Model T's are cool. This car is to.

  • lol

  • Real EVs from Lionev website, cost about $30-40K. Max tested range 456 miles.

  • Well done video production! I hope it sells alot of BugE's!
