I'm British/Irish, Irish on my mother's side. My Grandmother told me stories of when the British Officer's took up residence in her father's home during this period. My great grandfather's only request he made was that the Officer's not wear their boots in the house so as not to dirty the carpet and that they respect the home of his children. My Grandmother remembers how polite and respectful the officer's were, they never caused a fuss and kept their men in line.

If you had read my original comment, the point I was making was that my great grandfather WAS Irish, and the British didn't mistreat him or my Grandmother's family in any way, and they were all Irish. Well, you should learn history. Why didnt america enter the war earlier? Well, because they were smart yet cunning. They wanted the nazis and soviet union to destroy eachother so that they could take over whatever was left. Project manhattan was well on the way so even if something went wrong, US would just nuke the fuckers.
