Most of these bands don't consider themselves goth because they were just experimenting with the breakdown of barriers punk brought them. They were exploring other forms of instrumentation and concepts that hadnt been done before.
Love this song/this version...but their last concert was awful...and they stated that they were "never a goth band." They were obviously trying to change their image which I don't know WHY? They were awesome when they started in the 80s...I guess I will just have to remember them this way....
Love this thank you so so much for putting it up. This version is available here on you tube. I prefer this to the First and last and alway's version myself. They were classed as gothic weren't they? 9/10
@Isone00 The Sisters are not the godfathers of goth, they are the godfathers of the fucking great music! Pure art, introspective melodies, thrilling sound... Thanks God for discovering this music; a music that gets better with the years like the good wine
That was the fourth song played live in New Castle, in the night of March 13th, 1985. The entire show is available in a CD that is part of the so called "Mercyfull Release Box" (MRCD 5).
it's from the Old Grey Whistle Test on the BBC in 1985
see video of it at watch?v=VcdxnQLKAYo
Personally I think this was the peak of the Sisters' live power and everything that came later was a diminishment. Hussey was an amazingly inventive and unique guitarist, drawing more on the folk tradition than the more ordinary rock-god-wannabees who came after. Gary Marx wasn't bad but the Sisters were amazing as just a "power trio" in the run up to their initial split.
Respond to this video... Wow, being able to just press the 'play' button on a drum machine and have the inspiration to compose a great melody and harmony!
I love sisters but I hate this drums...

Was ich kann und was ich könnte
wieß ich gar nicht mehr.
Gib mir wieder etwas schönes

Ich höre dich rufen, Marian
Kannst Du mich schreien hören
ich bin hier allein'
Ich höre dich rufen, Marian
Ohne deine Hilfe verliere ich mich in diesem Ort

@Isone00
Surely the Sisters would be the grandmothers of goth?
Also Bauhaus are older and gothier.
Also they're not goth.
Also most goth is unlistenable and the Sisters are not.
Who cares anyhoo?
