The Republicans have had two years and a majority in Congress. The economy, which was showing signs of recovery previously, has gotten steadily worse under their watch. Their accomplishments in the past two years have consisted of politcally polarizing bills they know will never pass the senate, endless bickering, and blockading every honest effort to solve the crisis. I don't care what you think of the democrats solutions- if you won't solve the problem, get out of the way.
@illinoislibertarian "Average unemployment under BUSh = 5.7 percent Average unemployment under Obama 9.3%" Since you seem to having a convient fit of amnesia, I'll fill you in on recent events- a housing bubble burst during the closing months of the Bush administration. When Obama took office the economy was in a deep recession. Thanks to his efforts, the economy is out of recession but remains sluggish and fragile. But yes, unemployment shockingly does indeed tend to rise during a downturn.
@illinoislibertarian Your numbers have a very obvious logical fallacy. Your trying to attribute the employment rate to the presidency of Bush and Obama, ignoring the simple fact that the recession is the force that has had the most significant impact on that increase. Which leaves me wondering- how often do you ignore information this obviously important to the topic so that the 'facts' you present match up with your conclusions?
@nothri I didnt ignore it. I am quoing fact. And your bailout failed miserably as well! We have lost more jobs than Obama promised we'd lose if we DIDNT pass it.
@illinoislibertarian "I didnt ignore it. I am quoing fact" yes, and as i said your omitting information from your 'facts' in order to deceive your readers into seeing the wrong cause and effect. The implication behind your numbers is that Obama has caused this rise in job loss, when in fact the recession is the cause. Its the equivalent of me pointing out that more people drowned in New Orleans under Bush than Clinton, while leaving out the little matter of Hurricane Katrina.
@illinoislibertarian And since we're talking about economic policy anyway, let's look at the past two years. We've made a complete 180 degree turn in policy thanks to the Republican majority in Congress- we are now seeking to cut government programs across the board. The thinking is that this will be more beneficial than a program that theoretically stimulates the economy. And yet...the economy is in a nose dive. Your policies don't seem to be helping. They might be doing the opposite.
@illinoislibertarian i was willing to give the conservatives an opportunity to bring in better solutions, if they had any. So far what I've seen is a lot of bickering, a lot of stonewalling on what should be very simple bills to pass, and an economy that has reversed every inch of recovery it had made under liberal policies. We're on the knife edge of another recession, and so far the conservatives are long on finger pointing and short on their own solutions.
@rhodeislandpatriot "Too bad we had our credit downgraded. Thanks a lot Democraps!" The debt ceiling was an issue easily passed until the Republicans began using it as a hostage to cram their political agenda down everyone's throat. The only thing I blame the Democrats for is playing the Republican's game.
Even if we all are heading to disaster, Obama is the best president ever. He improved America's image all around the world. Now oversees, people start liking Americans while before they hated us. I wished we lived in the past, so Obama can be our king
