it was jake e lee, randy rhoads (R.I.P.) died in 82 and this album came out in 83 (i think). jake e lee made the solo based on randys style.

How far into your playing did you start to learn this and how long did it take you to get it down?

Hey Man. Thanks so much. I've been playing for 16 years now (8 seriously), and although I don't remember exactly how long it took me, I think it took a while to get that part down!

One of the things I do is start each of those alternate-picked sequences with an upstroke. It's kind of weird when you try it at first, but for me it made more sense overall.

Thanks, Man. That is a pretty tough solo. My advice is to really work on your alternate picking, bending, and vibrato. Also, if it helps at all, try starting the fast alternate runs (at the end) with an UPstroke instead of a downstroke.

For your left hand, work on trills with ALL of your fingers, and do as many legato exercises as you can. To get your left and right hands in sync together, practice VERY slowly, and work your way up to your desired speed with a metronome.
