I go to rookie school next summer. or next fall still undecided on when im going to attend. And everytime i watch this video i get pumped! Thanks for sharing!
HFD ALL DAY!! Hartford Fire Department Class 1 Baby That goes for our neighbors also BLue hills Vol. Det, Windsor locks Fire dept, East hartford Fire dept, West hartford Fire dept!!
@HFD97FIRE2 HI, I have a quick question and at first glance you may be my best chance of getting an answer. I live in Bloomfield and want to do firefighting, most likely volunteer for now since I'm a college student. My question is, is Fire Academy for volunteer firefighters as well, or just career firefighters?
@ProSo91 Nope My Department has its own Training academy in hartford. Smaller departments like Bloomfield and windsor Go the the connecticut fire academy. There are a few more depts that go there just for training exercises but ive only been to the academy to but some Firefighting books to help me study.
i love how at 4:44 the instrutor kills the floor out on the recruit doing the hose maze and to add he did it without even careing that hes done it many times but it part of the training
"The harder you work the faster it's over! Think about all the crap you went through to get here! You're a machine right now!" Whoever this instructor is, he is great. He knows exactly what to say to push someone to the max.
this video is freakin awesome. At 6:45 how the firefighter used his hand to somehow turn his whole body around and slide down the ladder, that was cool. I havnt seen that before.
Awesome Video Brother!! would you happen to have the songs and ho sings them? this soundtrack is the best ever! I'd like to listen to these while I work out. Getting ready for my fulltime. Just waiting on the word! I'm already NPQ1 and Hazmat Tech. this is with my volunteer department.
So i noticed that at your academy your guys workout sum. I'm not sure if your paid or that's the standard for vollies and paid ff n connecticut but here n my academy (so far i'm still n aug 24 2010 - dec 16 2010) we haven't done any push up or pulls up or nething lyk that. O and the weight on the slide i just did 2 days ago it wasn't hard but i'm sure it was harder after doing things u did n the video. I wud lyk to workout with the gear on. oh i'm a volly btw. Gud video bro!
God bless you all brother. I recently started my Fire Academy and I appreciate all the hard work you all went through. F. Medina Class 122 Allan Hancock College
AWESOME! CANNOT WAIT TILL IM 21!!!!!! This is what i have dreamed to do all my life. right now i am doing everything that i can to get there. great job!
Can someone fill me in on what the pre reqs are for the CT Fire Academy? Is it just for officer training? Do I ned my EMT before I applied? I'm just not getting the info from the site... Thanks
I am very impressed with the intensity of your training and I am impressed with the military components in the training (Your all not in step....that's ok....) all kidding aside well done you boys EARNED what you have. My hats off.
its been months now & i still love this damn video aha, recently became a volunteer for terryville ct. not a huge or busy town but im getting some experience & a little bit closer to chasing after my dream of becoming a firefighter. madd props to use guys who are already made ff's, got a ton of respect for all of you
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
shitty at the end, im a fireman in NY and the training we get kills that... not to mention the fact they just geared up without gloves on... we have to learn with gloves on 24/7.. shitty training
24/7? Really? Must be really hard to eat and wipe your ass with gloves on all the time. lol. Tell ya what, put some footage up, and I guarantee we'll find some mistakes in your superior training....
"Fireman in NY" sounds like you are trying to sound like you are on FDNY. I assume you are not, otherwise you would just say that. Secondly the CT FFI and FFII requirements are more in depth than in NY state. CT does not honor NY FF certs, NY does however honor CT. And I second Jackson, put some footage up of your academy, then we will talk. ALL DAY EVERY DAY!
Hey hey...give him some credit...if you click on his name, you will see that he did upload a video......of a song from the Lion King. Main-vein...before you attempt to insult our training, make sure to have a something a little manlier for a video...cause the Lion King blows
@TheMainCause Get your head out of your ass with that "My training is better then your training" Buttshit. the fact of the matter is that this is a brotherhood, and it's VERY possible that a firefighter from connecticut worked along side a new york firefighter when the shit hit the fan in 9/11.
You apply for a department first. Then once you get the job then they send your ass off to 2 months of hell at the academy. So there is a mix of departments in one recruit class.
hey guys FF here from australia. Love the video, keep up the good efforts. Am a little confused though. What fire departments do you go to once you graduate or are you even guarenteed a job? Thanks
hosecff22 what happens is that you apply to a town that is hiring and you get the job then they send you to the academy for about 2 months then you go back to the town that hired you and you are a probie for about year depends on the department. and question let me know i work with two of the guys in the video
Thanks alot rvfdlt, i was wondering if you can help me with something, or any of you. I'm going to be a senior in high school this coming year. I was wondering what my first step is once I graduate high school? Like where do I go first? thanks, any help is a big help.
hey shawnster, I'm also 17 and have been a volunteer FF for almost two years now and love every moment of it. I'm from Newtown, where we are all volunteer, but I'm sure you could find a volunteer house near bristol thats not too far away for you to become a member of. It definitely changes your life and your outlook on things. Good luck on the road to becoming a professional!
im currently 17 yers old, I came here on a field trip last year for a career kinda trip & it was so awesome to see the trainee's doing drills inside the tower & that other building. hey buddy best first step would probally go and talk to the guys/gals at your local firehouse im doing the same thing right now looking to be a full time FD guy right now im 17 and a volunteer and i still love it check to see if ur local station has and explore/jr program and feel free to ask the guys questions about the job i havent met one brother or sister who wasnt helpful well good luck
thanks alot, what town are you from? im in bristol & was told by alan zygmunt (the event coordinator for the academy) that bristol doesn't have that program.
yeah no problem im looking into the same kinda thing im from down in the catskills in NY Greene county a somewht rural area yeah im a year in already i love the job best bet is probably to start taking classes at the acemady ive already taken firefighter1 and surivial and am taking truck company operations FAST and firefighter2 before the end of the year idk how you acemady works but we have OFPC which is basically they come to us if we have enough people and we train here

the sled weighs 70lbs, and it moves along like a slug. The key is good technique with the sledge hammer, and good body positioning for leverage.
