I'd go with a PC over a Mac any day. Although, not sure if I'd rather have the Envy. I have my Gateway right now. Next one will probably be an Acer (who owns Gateway).

HP's are Garbage computers! spent $980 on a brand new HP Laptop, then it dies in less then a month. sent it in to HP for repairs and never got it back till 3 month later! just got a brand new 13" MBP, well worth the investment!!! never going back to a PC......

Not sure whether to get a Macbook Pro or an HP DV6. I have an HP DV5 atm and it still works, Windows 7 is still quite fast and I haven't really had any problems with Windows. Ever. However, the left touchpad button is broken (but still works) and it's a bit old. HP DV6 is cheaper and much better specs than the Macbook (quad core, blu-ray, 6GB RAM, etc) but Macbooks hold their value and apparently last longer. Can anyone convince me either way?

They're limited because they can't run 95% of software on the market due to their kernel. You're using shitty apple software like itunes and ironically the microsoft word port. It's not open source and encourages very litte community development resulting in very few unique programs. Oh and it runs like 3 games and no egineering or CAD software. @canascot02 apart from autocad i ve tested many pro 3d apps, 3d for mac is just aint a good idea, until u buy the top of the line imac which is very expensive, if ur profession is serious 3d never opt for mac, a mac is great for video stuff n audio and this is a tried n tested fact, maya which is native on both os x & windows runs like shit on mac, the entry level imac often crash n niggle when even making basic vert tweaks

I've been a Mac user since 1994...I love Macs BUT I'm switching to PC. After every single Mac has been in the shop at least two or three times with dysfunctional video cards and logic boards and "weird' issues that made the "geniuses" scratch their heads....If I were rich, I'd just suck it up, but after three years the logic boards go and it costs over $1k to fix. I'm done.
macbook pro is obviously nicer, its just simpler in design. 1 block of alluminum, no plastic parts, no obvious vents, nice thin, boxy design, just feels good. I switched from a hp dv6000 to this and im not looking back. Mac haters just hate because they've never really tried a mac. Both laptops are computers, its not like macs are alien machines like people make them out to be.
@ihaxors1 If Apple cut their prices or improved the technology inside their Macbooks, I would be straight there to buy one. For the price of a Macbook, they could at least put a blu-ray drive in it or improve the processor or something. You're just paying for the name, really. However, Macs apparently last longer (they do seem more durable) and do hold their value. My sister has had an original Macbook for about 5 years and it's still really fast. Pros and cons on both sides, really.
Its really really funny to me when I see an Envy and here is why. Number 1, its called an Envy and it looks just like a MacBook Pro, think about it. Number 2, in order to match the width of the MBP, HP had to stick a vent in every conceivable spot on the case. HP makes shit products and always has. This just proves PC manufacturers cannot recreate a Mac without jacking up the price.
@TheMasterofganja hp made the mistake of adding magnesium to the case magnesium heats up rather quickly and doesnt disipate heat as well as aluminium. They thought they could make the notebook lighter by using a mix of the two metals but instead they just created an oven im glad hp is dropping out of the pc buisness id much rather go for a real pc manufacturer like asus and toshiba

@redpaperboy It's a $250 or whatever bet, depending on what's covered. I bought a MacBook Pro just about 3 years ago. That warranty has paid for itself with a new keyboard and 3 batteries. I've also done AppleCare on iDevices after the first time worked out in my favor (4th gen iPod failed at the end of its 2 years, so I was given a 5th gen with a larger hard drive).
yeah. in the center where the hinge is. since the casing is metallic, it diffracts heat well, so the laptop stays relatively cool without fans. the shell acts like a giant heat sync.
personally, i find apple's hardware and interface designs to be more beautiful to look at...which i enjoy. i have used both pc and mac and feel they are both equally competent at handling tasks, but macs are purdy.
I hate these arguments. All I ever hear from Mac people when I ask them why they think Mac is better is the same argument. That usually consists of "no viruses and better video/photo editing." When I mention antiviruses, and programs like photoshop and avid for PC, all their argument turns into is "PC SUX LOL"
@magicdude44 As a recent PC user turned Mac user, I prefer the Mac over any and all the PCs I have owned in the past because OS X manages my documents, programs, and files much better than Windows. The operating system itself is more advance than Windows, and as a result doesn't require the need for constant/consistent upkeep and maintenance in order to achieve optimal performance. The productivity programs in OS X are very handy, and the hardware on my MacBook Pro feels very premium.
It doesn't matter if u choose PC or Mac, both are good. At the moment PC is more often used for gaming, Mac for graphical work and a good Operating System with almost no frustrations. If mac was a "bad product" as some assume, HP WOULD NOT COPY IT, remember that.. It's up to the buyer which Operating System he prefers and which purpose the computer will have. ;)

This HP Envy in the video is 14" not 15", and it's one of the oldest versions ever made of it.. I use a HP Envy 17" and I use to be a mac lover.. But having only 2 small vents and still having low degrees on full load (On hardware that is twice as fast as the macbook pro 17" on applestore atm) is quite satisfying.
However some people are blinded because they think apple is the best. However it's the biggest moneywaste

My friend has a macbook and I run the Envy 15 with beats audio. We both run Ableton Live 8, which uses plenty of memory and processor. Here is what we noticed: we were mixing down the same song with 22 tracks and about 3 plug ins per track. His crashed a few times when mastering the final track. The Envy had no problem and never crashed. Maybe he had a bad mac, not bashing here. But my preference from experience HP Envy kicks some ass when it needs to.

no offense but if an envy 17 has 3d and FULL HD screen not the "HD" as advertised as apple, then my choice is clear. Updated 2nd gen (sandy bridge) takes care of overheating issues in the recent envy lineup. You have to take OS X for a god if you choose the mac over the envy in terms of price and capability. Mac is like the fancy restaurant with little portions of food that taste great. PC is all you can eat at a decent price. - smatterings of good in the junk . Just my two cents.
I think the envy is more attractive in some ways. I myself have an HP Envy 15 with a 1080p screen. I love it but it has its fair share of flaws. Pick your poison.

Anyone can have a ssd drive inserted into their computer, it's not a "mac thing". 50 applications without lag does not prove a thing. I could fire up 500 instances of mspaint on a freaking 7200 rpm drive and it' wouldn't lag either. Ram is the cheapest component in a computer, however Apple seem to charge an awful lot for Ram. I wonder why that is. I could easily put in 12 gb of ram into my current desktop. Thunderbolt is a joke.

It's not open source and encourages very litte community development resulting in very few unique programs. Oh and it runs like 3 games and no egineering or CAD software. I can afford a mac too, instead i buit a 3000 dollar custom PC. Macs are like a tricycle (limited but safe) pc is the oppisite.

I've been a Mac user since 1994...I love Macs BUT I'm switching to PC. After every single Mac has been in the shop at least two or three times with dysfunctional video cards and logic boards and "weird' issues that made the "geniuses" scratch their heads....If I were rich, I'd just suck it up, but after three years the logic boards go and it costs over $1k to fix. I'm done.

macbook pro is obviously nicer, its just simpler in design. 1 block of alluminum, no plastic parts, no obvious vents, nice thin, boxy design, just feels good. I switched from a hp dv6000 to this and im not looking back. Mac haters just hate because they've never really tried a mac. Both laptops are computers, its not like macs are alien machines like people make them out to be.

For the price of a Macbook, they could at least put a blu-ray drive in it or improve the processor or something. You're just paying for the name, really. However, Macs apparently last longer (they do seem more durable) and do hold their value. My sister has had an original Macbook for about 5 years and it's still really fast. Pros and cons on both sides, really.

Its really really funny to me when I see an Envy and here is why. Number 1, its called an Envy and it looks just like a MacBook Pro, think about it. Number 2, in order to match the width of the MBP, HP had to stick a vent in every conceivable spot on the case. HP makes shit products and always has. This just proves PC manufacturers cannot recreate a Mac without jacking up the price.

They thought they could make the notebook lighter by using a mix of the two metals but instead they just created an oven im glad hp is dropping out of the pc buisness id much rather go for a real pc manufacturer like asus and toshiba

I've also done AppleCare on iDevices after the first time worked out in my favor (4th gen iPod failed at the end of its 2 years, so I was given a 5th gen with a larger hard drive).

The operating system itself is more advance than Windows, and as a result doesn't require the need for constant/consistent upkeep and maintenance in order to achieve optimal performance. The productivity programs in OS X are very handy, and the hardware on my MacBook Pro feels very premium.

It doesn't matter if u choose PC or Mac, both are good. At the moment PC is more often used for gaming, Mac for graphical work and a good Operating System with almost no frustrations. If mac was a "bad product" as some assume, HP WOULD NOT COPY IT, remember that.. It's up to the buyer which Operating System he prefers and which purpose the computer will have. ;)

This HP Envy in the video is 14" not 15", and it's one of the oldest versions ever made of it.. I use a HP Envy 17" and I use to be a mac lover.. But having only 2 small vents and still having low degrees on full load (On hardware that is twice as fast as the macbook pro 17" on applestore atm) is quite satisfying.
However some people are blinded because they think apple is the best. However it's the biggest moneywaste

My friend has a macbook and I run the Envy 15 with beats audio. We both run Ableton Live 8, which uses plenty of memory and processor. Here is what we noticed: we were mixing down the same song with 22 tracks and about 3 plug ins per track. His crashed a few times when mastering the final track. The Envy had no problem and never crashed. Maybe he had a bad mac, not bashing here. But my preference from experience HP Envy kicks some ass when it needs to.

no offense but if an envy 17 has 3d and FULL HD screen not the "HD" as advertised as apple, then my choice is clear. Updated 2nd gen (sandy bridge) takes care of overheating issues in the recent envy lineup. You have to take OS X for a god if you choose the mac over the envy in terms of price and capability. Mac is like the fancy restaurant with little portions of food that taste great. PC is all you can eat at a decent price. - smatterings of good in the junk . Just my two cents.

Anyone can have a ssd drive inserted into their computer, it's not a "mac thing". 50 applications without lag does not prove a thing. I could fire up 500 instances of mspaint on a freaking 7200 rpm drive and it' wouldn't lag either. Ram is the cheapest component in a computer, however Apple seem to charge an awful lot for Ram. I wonder why that is. I could easily put in 12 gb of ram into my current desktop. Thunderbolt is a joke.
