I would try to learn the real slow wheelies and how to feather the clutch first. Once you learn where the balance point is, and you get good at back brake control, wheelies are much easier. Since you will become more confident with your balance, not covering the back brake while doing seat standers etc. isn't as sketchy.
how do you keep your balance with the rear brake? i cant seem to do it.

yeah, that's a good way to get hurt. i would stay away from high speed wheelies until you get the brakes fixed.
