awesome! love the power the control , excellent !!! thank you for posting this video! I am practicing the nunchaku and appreciate this video very much!
Yes it's is on ebay i can send it overseas if you like, i have it in version 1 and 2 the film has sold well in the uk for over 20 years now, everyone seems to like it. it's 90 minutes long in 7 chapters, the 7th chapter is a nunchaku test. Check it out on ebay its got 100% feedback. In the new year It will be sold with my free Bo-staff DVD just let me know.
I am definatly interested, I grow so tired of all the trick fancy stuff i see all the time. I will be buying from you very soon, count on it. Gotta wait till i recover from the holidays though. lol, broke.
I just purchased the dvd thru ebay. I tried to do it a few months ago, but the for some reason, there was a problem with the international selling rates. Anyway, cant wait to get. i have been studying this kata for monthes right here on youtube, will be nice to have a dvd of your techniques
@WayOfTheNunchaku Hi Steven thanks for purchasing my DVD and for the months of hard work you put in studying kata 5. I put you a hard copy of kata 5 that may help you. I sent the DVD off on Wednesday, keep in touch and let me know how you get on.
I just got your dvd in the mail. This is exactly what i was looking for, no nonsense combat applications. I am loving this dvd. I am really going to get into it next week when i get a few days off work. Thanks for all the extra stuff too!
Very impressive display of combat techniques. You should hop over to the freestyle channels and show them how to use the nunchaku in a proper manner. GOOD STUFF!!
Yes there is a reverse grip block just after the kick and power strike the nunchaku is caught in the reverse grip then going straight into the upper reverse block.
Also in kata 4 theres 2 reverse grip strikes one in each hand. The trouble with the reverse strike it lacks a little on the range, but the reverse upper block is outstanding.
You can see the blocks in more detail in my DVD which is on ebay.
whats this....someone using the nunchaku as a weapon....I knew there where some left...whats sad is the people doing the "freestyle" stuff think that they know how to use them as a weapon
from Megajames, Hi Mate and no disrespect to you about hollow tubing nunchakus it just people always confuse artistic freestyle and practical Nunchaku. You get freestylers who are super fast but only for show because if you replaced them with real heavy wooden chucks they wood not be as impressive, I like bobs style because it is fast, smooth, he can attack from any angle, in other words his style would work in real combat. Tubes have no power, yes fast but thats about it
Hi Bob. Good Work and its nice to see some one using real wooden nunchaku and not these light weight toys(Hollow Tubing) the nunchaku is a weapon. i would like to see some one like bob femor who is very good at free style and fast with hollow tubes i would like to see him use real heavy wooden nunchaku and watch his speed reduce by half or more. i would rather get hit by his tubes then your real ones.
the reason that some people use hollow ones is because in some places they are illegal. I live in Canada and where I train we're not allowed to use wooden ones by law.
I have practised Okinawan kobudo, and karate, for 25 years and my dan grades come from Tokyo University, and are signed by the Japanese Prime Minister. Mr Iekataka you criticise but without construction. This instructor is English, not Japanese, and, for you, this seems to invalidate his work. What are YOU offering we mere mortals? No videos, no sound knowledge, just opinion.Perhaps you are a typical armchair warrior. All mouth and no substance.
You want to support this nonsense, fine with me. It is more theatrical than martial and speaks of sensationalism more than the realities of combative technique. BTW, if you expect me to believe that a traditionally trained exponent of kobudo would justify this nonsense, you picked the wrong guy. I trained in Japan also and that is the very reason I know better. I still train after 44 yrs, but I train for use and perpetuation of fine arts, not to glorify myself. I don't need external rewards.
It appears that opinion is all he is offering, and as entitled to it as he is, I can't help but sense some jealous undertones to his posts. Maybe this is the reason he keeps returning after months to spew his negativity. It surprises me that he even posts at all as that requires a PC and electricity, and I suspect he envisions he is living in feudal Japan practising his "set in stone" style
I think you talk a load of rubbish, Wheres the proof of one technique past down through the ages, theres none theres not one set patterns all the patterns in Okinawa were put together by top karate masters and theres none older than 40 years, theres info that they were used but no info on patterns or forms. So this system what you see here is as good as any other of the past.
Theres some that talk and some that do! And we know what you do.
Actually, you don't know what I do. And, you are wrong about lineage and techniques passed through tradition. The nunchaku was used as a weapon not for show. Its use was simple and powewrful. Your patterns contain a lot of show and no power usage. But, you know that and it is ok with you that you perpetuate a want to be show system. As for your being a hachi dan, that is a joke also. So, continue your pretense and the world of traditional artists will continue to laugh.
The trouble is mate you have nothing to show, im not frightened to show what i have done back in the 80s and i can still do it or even better and im 62, so show up or shut up. Sensei Bob
if it aint power he's showin' there man, i dont know WHAT power is. His use of body weight behind his techniques can be clearly seen. i do taekwondo, (2nd dan) , but as a martial arts practitioner, i know that those each one of those swings are capable of destroying someone.
No power huh, why don't you stand in the way of one of those strikes >_>
They are a simple weapon with the potential to have huge kinetic energy. They are easy to manipulate and handle simply because combative use does not require all this showmanship nonsense. A logical defensive combination: strike the head and follow with a strike to the knee, return to a defensive position, end of assailant. No flipping, spinning, multiple hand offs or obviously contrived BS. And, make no mistake, it is BS. Capital BS!! He is capable but chooses to be a show off. Hardly martial!!
His speed and control during the manipulations! Weather or not its this or that, He still has a very impressive amount of control and concentration. Any fool can swing around two sticks on a chain and call it kata. But this guy shows some real mastery of his art.
He is a showman. Yes, he is guick, yes, he does what he does well. The issue is, what is it? It is not traditional technique yet he wears traditional garb and obi. He is a fake. This is fabricated and only slightly resembles the effective use of a very lethal weapon. I would bet ten to one his followers do not know what he does is not traditional yet he allows accolades and admiration to feed his ego and probably make him money. Shameful and could actually be fraudulent.
Well that is the shameful truth about the American martial arts society. Its rife and completely SATURATED with frauds, fakes, self proclaimed "masters" and flash. Its hard to find a school with a good lineage that shows transparency in its practices and doctrines. Its a business of franchise, marketing and, show boating. Theres almost a total lack of humility and professionalism. Instead we have blind and ignorant devotion to only "my style". With a tasteless sense militarism.
It is the greed and sense of self that has been perpetuated in America. It shows in every aspect of our lives from the corruption of Wall Street, to the corruption of our government, to the corruption of the individual. Youth in America are surrounded by so many levels of dishonesty that they have little chance of learning good values and mores. The success of Japan is largely in their devotion to the group rather than the individual. Nunchakubob is in the UK, that explains a lot.
Be careful, you tell others of yourself. What part of your description was considered eons ago when the nunchaku was used as a weapon on Okinawa? When the samurai lay dead, katana in hand and his head split open, did the Okinawan that killed him think, "I did that with speed, intracasy and power and it looked good too?" This mans technique is junk, plain and simple. He is a show boat and an egotistical boob. No body knowledgable of kobudo would be caught dead using that technique.
Ive been doing nunchaku for 25 years I know a good nunchaku artist when i see one, and hes real good. The only one who is a egotistical boob and a fraud is you.
You have yourself convinced!! If you have been doing this crap you have not been doing nunchaku but you have been doing deception, deception of yourself. There are loads of fools doing this junk everyday. Meanwhile, the world of traditional Okinawan arts is laughing at you and begging that you stay away. I am one of them, stay away, don't get that crap near me, I know better and don't need attention bad enough to deceive myself and others.
Whatever if you think this is all crap mabye you should stay away or mabye you can enlighten us with some video footage of what you know, but I have a feeling you wont because your a fake... a keyboard warrior
hes right... its all flow and free style moves. after hitting one time he would lose the rythum also look at his foot work its pathetic he acts like he doesn't need to worry about stance or kicks. which means hes re-lying on the nunchaku as his only weapon. all in all a very nice free style kata with flowing fast paced moves. which even i can do after playing with nunchakus for a few weeks
Beleave me my technique will destroy anything, there not one club in the uk that would take us on in combat because they know we won the british titles four times out of four enterys, so where doing something right.
Gee Bob, somehow I kind of knew you thought well of yourself so it is no surprise that you say that. Tell me, how is it that you want to settle your case by requesting I show up or shut up? Does my not showing up weaken my point? Does my not shutting up weaken yours? Why is it that such a stellar sensei is defending himself? Could it be that I have hit a nerve? BTW, those that are proficient with the nunchaku do not watch it, they watch the opponent. Calling yourself sensei is very presumptuous.
And for your sly comments, you should keep then to yourself,as a Proffesional Instructor
I would've thought your Loyalties stayed with your old Collegues...After all you are doing the voiceover on the Dvd,and thats how i remember you,but your bitterness show's through, for someone who has such great Knowledge and skill, you seem to be lacking in your own Discipline...Again Ex-ZZKA
For someone so harsh in your wording,And being such an expert in Nunchaku-Do,read alot of Books to gain your information...It sounds good to,or did you give them Certificate's over a Weekend,it seems you appear to do this quite regular these days..I once knew a great Sensei who looked after his Students, but it appears living in Cornwall, you may have lost your Faculties..So remember where your Loyalties lie,and most of all where you came from....Ex-ZZKA
Thank you for your opinion which you are certainly entitled to. My words are not harsh and by the way "Nunchaku-do" is not rather it is referred to as "Nunchaku-jitsu". I merely pointed out if you re-read my note that his kata is better for the "open circut" rather than that of ancient traditional Kobudo. Harsh???? Merely factual. Thank you though for you input. No books rather my lifes experiences having just returned from Kyoto demostrating for the Imperial Family of Japan.
