Ive never competed in any pokemon VG tournament, was wondering if there are different tournament tiers. Obviously this one is a Uber tier, but I was wondering if there are some for OU's UU's or even NU's.

@dragonlord009 So far official tournaments are only played with one tier. In 2009, most of the Pokemon that would be considered Uber were banned. In 2010, we were allowed two ubers but some Pokemon were still banned. Although I say "uber", that's not an official term so the banned or restricted Pokemon are not necessarily Pokemon that are normally considered uber. We don't know what the 2011 tournament format will be at this time so we'll have to wait and see how it works.

Why dont you just cheat, and buy lots of HP UP, Calcium etc, and just feed it to each of your pokemon. It wont increase there Level aswell. I hate cheating, but it seems like theres a big hole that could be exposed.

There is a difference, and a lot of legends have stats comparable to most OU/UU/NU pokemon. And yes, they DO check for hacks. I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. @SogeUsopp114 You just go to one of the events and sign up to play. The only one left this year is in Hawaii but there will probably be more events next year. The problem is there aren't very many events so there might not be one close to where you live.

@SogeUsopp114 Actualy. Just go to Pokemon.com go to the Organized play section and on the side should be a section called Find an event near you. But in your information and it should give you a list of upcoming events and then you find the registration dates and times. Hope that helps.

@japanosama You can catch them below Lv50 in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver has a "Flat Battle" feature that scales Pokemon that are higher than Lv50 down to Lv50. You can use a Lv70 Kyogre and it'll be Lv50 in the actual battle.

@jetter848 Fake Out, Protect, Explosion, Weather Control, Trick Room and a bunch of other stuff. Deciding which to use on a team and when to use them in battle. It's defintely a highly offensively oriented metagame but there's more strategy to it than you might think.

So, out of all the VGC videos I've seen, I rarely see anyone using the restricted Pokemon. Now, is this because people don't want to be cheap? Or what? Seems like not using them is a huge handicap. Now I, as much as anyone else, love to use under used Pokemon but traveling to a large scale tournament such as this and not having the best team I could, especially when a trip to Hawaii is at stake, seems like a waste. @Akasunano You've been watching VGC 2010 videos, right? VGC 2009 didn't allow ubers. The restricted Pokemon are some of the most commonly seen Pokemon at the VGC 2010 so it's coincidence if you've been coming across VGC 2010 videos that don't use restricted Pokemon.
