I start to learn photography with Brian Peterson... I like him so much .. I read almost all of his books... and I enjoyed every video made by Brian... load of respect....
Just a quick point. You can be either in full manual mode (and full, half etc. power), or you can set the flash to expose for f/22. They would be contradictory except for the special case where the distance from the flash to the object being photographed (in metres) is exactly the flashes guide number divided by 22. Nice photo though. Greetz
Good video. I think I like the longer and more detailed Mark Wallace videos, but there is definitely lots to learn here.
Personally, I would have preferred a little less light on the foreground, I think it is too obviously lit, and it distracts from the background, but obviously, it is the technique which is important, not the actual result, which in the end is a matter of taste.
With all the recommendations, it looks like I'm going to be getting "Understanding Exposure" pretty soon.
Hi Bryan. Love your series. I watch you more then I watch others. You have a unique way of teaching. BTW. That ship in the background going from right to Left, you must've shot with the 900 right after the shot without it because the video shows it far left. Smiles. Keep up the good work. Must've been cold in Seattle.
Excellent Idea to have videos on lightning!! There are so many things to learn in this field to become better photographers. I would prefer starting from the basics E.g How to efficiently operate a flash manually?
What happened to your FLW magenta filter.....? You said in a older video that you almost always use that filter for skylines.....LOL! good video, glad to see you are back and doing videos on youtube... and a whole show with adorama, that is awesome....
hey Adorama, Thanks for putting Bryan to work in these online series.
What i liked about this basic presentation was he took the time to rattle off the metrics needed to get that shot. I thought, "where was this series when i first started?"
excellent presentation for entry level. Looking forward to more!
(i'd have suggested a cable release/wireless remote to get better light painting-though lovely as it was)
Understanding exposure is my bible, It is whet I tell people to buy when they want to learn how to take photographs...I really expected More when I saw this series. Come on who doesn't know that already? I realize this is episode 1 maybe it will get better.
Thank you Adorama TV. I am a professional photographer that has been shooting for years, but I still like to watch and learn from other professionals. Every once in a while (more often than not) you'll have some arrogant little piss ant say something disrespectful about the picture and/or professional, but thank goodness you at Adorama ignore that and keep giving us great learning tips. So once again thank you to Adorama and welcome Bryan.
If you dont know who "this guy" is you must have only had your camera a few days or you have never tried to learn how to use it. Bryan is a fricken genius at teaching this stuff. He could make rocket science easy to understand. Go buy understanding exposure and you will be amazed. As for as video quality not being as good. Really? That's why you watch this stuff? So if the guy filmed himself farting for a hour in high def you would like it more than a video with substance filmed analog? Annoyin
FYI for the haters....Bryan Peterson's book Understanding Exposure has been one of the most recommended books on photography of all time. So this guy knows what he is talking about.
It's good to have a new show, however i'm use to better quality videos that Mark does. The new guy seems like a good teacher. Lets see how a in-studio video looks first before we pass too much judgement.
yyyyyyyoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo mi friend brian `sup man miss you so much by the way i hope this combination betwen you and adorama to be the best in the world
@fotografjura90 follow him on twitter or facebook and you'd know what's new to AdoramaTV, also check the older videos on AdoramaTV's youtube channel he explains everything.
gracias por compartir tus conocimientos Bryan excelente tecnica de uso del flash. pero la verdad no me gusta tu forma de presentar las cosas. no ves a la cámara, y no te explicas mucho.
Why this video start from episode 101.. where are the rest?

He uses unorthodox methods...overast skies and drops the f-stop to almost closing....lol. But there is a method to his madness...Nice!!
