When I brought the director's cut may years ago I had a supisicion that the whoosh sound was different. That's because I had a very clear memory of how sounded in 1978. Glad to hear a clean version of the original opening. I think they went a little too excessive with the remaster.
i wonder if they will use this intro with the Superman reboot, the one with Russell Crowe playing Jor-El, and Henry Cavill playing the Man of Steel, Superman!
So far this is the only version I have found with the whoosh sound in it for the Superman sign as intended thanks for posting this should have more hits welldone.
This IS THE ORIGINAL way it was sound tracked, before they remastered it to up to date.. I can tell, especially the sound effects was used when the showed the S logo, and rest of the credit names, It was just how I'd remembered it so long ago.
I know YouTube used to have the original sound track, not the new bad 5.1 sound, but the one that used to be on here sounded better than this one, but this one is the closest the original as possible.
Yes dubbing, spatialization and noises are horrible in the new french track.
Hopefully Warner has released the theatricul cut with the true french dubbing after finding the rights.
---
@franckbass You're right ! So great the one and only french version! Francis lax dubbing Hackman, Arditi dubbing Reeve..Irremplaçable ! unique! my only regret: impossible to restore the original (mono) track ! (bad sound and spacialisation)...but better to watch it like this OR in Original version, than watching the crapy 2000 french 5.1 dubbing, even if techniquely better
@nobodysperfect06 i don't lnow if they ll use it...not using it would be ignoring one of the most important superhero/music theme association ! ... I like Nolan's Batman films, but i miss Elfman's theme so badly... hero =theme theme=hero... so crucial back in the 80's, and so forgotten by ordinary soundtracks...
In another hand, do we really want to see another screwed Superman movie knowing than the one and only Superman was Reeve???

It's the sound of the original track (and not the bad new 5.1). That's the reason why it sounds good. ^^

yeah, the VHS quality sounds much better than the DVD sound, the swoosh sound starting at 1:47 is the best part of the intro

Oh, thanks a million! The French track is not the 5.1 version that has the overly loud swishing noises
