  • She´s amazing!

  • I love this performance, and I remember it t like it was yesterday! The Apollo audience showed her sooo much love. I know that made hu er feel so much better because she had to be nervous. One thing about the Apollo audience was they were tough as nails, but if you could bring it, and you had real talent; they won't get enough of you. Great training ground for new and aspiring artists.

  • love her real soul and she in harlem not atl oh i forgot atl wasnt poppin in 89 it just started popping in 92

  • had such a crush on her, so sexy !

  • Lisa and Teena Marie are the best blue eyed soul singers ever!!

  • wow. on their feet before she even sang a note.

  • Damn! I felt the energy of the crowd through the screen! Lucky Audience!

  • I love this live version. So M-U-C-H Energy!!!!! Love you, Lisa!

  • love 3:31....go lisa go lisa...as she dances...love it...!!

  • Not very many artist can say they rocked the Apollo. She certainly did. The crowd knows "Soul". still love this song. Lisa rocks.

  • Mozna sie zejszczc w gacie klimat zajebisty

  • The place is Rockin. Well done the lass from Rochdale

  • 1990 for... the... win!!

  • GO LISA! GO LISA! GO LISA!

  • Whooa! I'm in love with this woman !! Her voice really turns me oonnnn ...

  • Thanks for posting, Lisa is awesome!

  • I miss It's Showtime at the Apollo. Once upon a time when REAL singers and entertainers perform and the crowds danced!

  • She also sang "You Can't Deny It" on the same show. Now, can you imagine how astonishing and astounding it would have been, to see/hear Lisa and Teena do a duet? The most authentic white R&B artist in the U.K. (though some might say Jay Kay of Jamiroquai, and they might have a point), and the most authentic white R&B artist PERIOD? With the 2 of them and their voices, I would have bought that record. It makes me sad to think of such possibilities as this that we will never see.

  • @CookyMonzta Indeed! I wonder if the clip of her singing "You Can't Deny It" from the Apollo is floating around out there somewhere? Would be great to see, for those of us who missed it the first time around :)

  • I remember watching this!

  • something weird about this, is the harmony vocalist mixed higher?

  • Off the Chain!!! Never saw this before. Great performance...where have you gone Lisa???? The Apollo crowd that night did me proud. They rocked and took it to another level for real...for real....

  • Man, Lisa rocked the Apollo! The crowd was superhyped!

  • The Apollo audience is a perfect example of what being Black is all about. Yes, we struggle sometimes but for the most part we have fun and are very in tune with our culture!

Showtime at the Apollo brings back so many memories. There will never be another show like it!

  • Oh my god, I saw this when it was first aired on the Apollo.

  • Ok, it's '89 for the Brits and '90 for the Americans. For these folks in THIS video, it's 1990.

  • @SmoothCinnamonX If I remember correctly, this was February 1990. I still have this on VHS, but it's buried deep in my collection.

  • she had the place bouncing

  • DAMN U SHE KILLED IT! AMAZING PERFORMANCE LISA!!

  • What better gauge than an unforgiving audience? I was in my mid 20's then and used to love the Apollo. Remember, this is the same audience that booed Lauren Hill. I never saw Lisa's performance until You Tube. She seems to have gotten the same response at The Apollo that Stevie Wonder got when he did "Fingertips" and that says alot. She mush have been gushing when she leftthe stage thannight.

  • I remember the first time I saw that performance!! I was nervous for her but the audience showed nothing but MAD LUV for her!

  • Lisa TURNED IT OUT! This is def a classic among classics. Color has no place when you sing from the soul as Lisa always does. WORK IT MAMA!

  • Damn she did her Thang and this was how the Apollo used to be about fun jammin and stuff...But I wish she would come back with a last concert or something dont even have to really be any new songs..now they need some Karaoke songs from her

  • She has talked about this performance, she was scared to death to go out and face the audience,,,cause if she was they would have let her know it, big performance at the Apollo!!!

  • i bet that was a rush for her!

  • Gotdayum....Listen to that white Girl Sing!

  • cutie pie

  • she killed that shit lol the apollo audiance made it the hiphop remix lolz

  • LISA!!! Turning it out!!!

  • Amazing Amazing Amazing brings back so many great thoughts!

  • How I miss the 90's ...

  • @Jacada123 This was 1989, not the 90s.

  • @supercreamysperm Your point is? Her sound dominated in the early 90's where I live, the point still stands.

  • @supercreamysperm Actually, in the US it hit the charts on 1/27/90. So it's the 90s. Get it right! And Lisa didn't hit the Apollo til like april or something.

  • @SmoothCinnamonX If you type "Lisa Stansfield All Around The World" into Wikipedia, you'll see that this song hit the BRITISH chart in November '89, and that's what I'm referring to. I'm a BRIT, and I can only tell you what I personally remember. This song, from what I remember as a little child, hit the UK chart around the same time as the Berlin Wall coming down, which was Nov '89.

  • @SmoothCinnamonX yep.... the US is always behind the UK when it comes to music. Always. 1989 song.

  • GOD, I miss 1990...

  • this takes me back to the 7th grade when she rocked the house.... just pure raw emotion and a timeless classic from a one of a kind voice

  • Supi

  • This was during a time when R & B was at it's best. Everyone, male & female was grooving to this jam. This song had dimension and was "lryically" based. Elements that are missing in most mainstream music today. Thanks for posting.

  • i LOVE black people.

  • they love Lisa

  • such a lucky audience, where is this, i would like to meet them!!!

  • good music will bring the best of ppl and thats why the crowd reacted how they reacted. They loved her and appreicate her, 20 years later i dont think you will get such a collective, unrehearsed and genuine reactions from crowd form todays artists

  • See how we show love? I love my people! :-)

  • @Picture111 ditto

  • gooo lisa go da ppl jaammmiinn! lol

  • I love this great voice!

  • I have always loved Lisa and this song but it went into my favourties because of the appreciation of the amazing audience. Fabulous, many thanks for sharing!

  • Damn! I remember this song. Thanx!

  • what a cool fukin audience! lisa must have been has high as a kite leaving the stage that nite. i never seen this performance befor...what a voice and a nice song. i remember the song well. thanks for posting.

  • @tallcoolone09 The Apollo audience was the BEST audience!!! We loved our black singers. But we gave mad props to our white singers, too. That's if they could sing. Lisa was one of the good singers.

  • @TheLanard oh yea...she can definatly sing. i still love that song too. but yea, thats why i liked Apollo was because of the audience.the look on some of those poor fools faces when they were getting kicked off stage...priceless. lol.

  • Well thats good

May you continue to feel that wayy

    :)) byee

  • Lisa is just awesome. Love this song

  • i wish i was black. these folks know how to live.

  • that was a nice thing to sayy but aree you not happy of what you are?

  • i'm very happy with who i am, was just expressing some giddy appreciation of folks having such a good time it felt like love!

  • @tailesill4

    Well thats good

May you continue to feel that wayy

    :)) byee

  • @tailesill4 aww lol Well we just do the best with what we have. I wish more people were like you. We aren't all bad people. Lots of us are great to be with.

  • @MrSexxxy20 And a lot of "us" know that. Never forget, many many of us are embarrassed and ashamed by what's gone down. "Doing the best with what we have" is so Christ-like it blows me away, an attitude of folk who actually LIVE the greatest sentence ever uttered, "forgive them they know not what they do." (You wouldn't know I'm agnostic.) Anyway, music is GOOD.

  • @tailesill4 cuuuuuuute ;)

  • Amo esta canción, Gracias por subirla....

  • THE APOLLO WAS ALWAYS CRUNK BACK THEN!

  • black audiences are the best... hands down... soulful, happy people who appreciate soulful grooves and music.... peace and love my brothas & sistas of color!

    beautiful!

    sinbad, you rock!

  • Apollo always show love. . . .:-)

  • I love how she is feeding off the crowd's wonderful energy and busting out with some delightful vocal ad libs here!

  • love lisa's voice. thanks for posting

  • she's millions better than teena marie, Lisa's amazing voice, not only sings but she writes songs, arranges vocals , adds music arrangements, and even wrote songs for Rick Astley, Richard Darbyshire , Dionne Warwick .... and Lisa contributed to some jazz compilations over the years, ans she even appeared in some famous soundtracks ... Did ever Teena do one of these things before???

  • GOD... this song WAS 1990!! Ahh... to be three years old again... :-)

  • LiSA&TEENA

    MY 2 FAV. WHiTE GiRLS

    LOVE YA LiSA

  • I concur! They are my two favorites too!

  • me too!

  • You ain't never lied! They truly are talented!!!

  • So talented!

  • Realmente a Lisa Stansfield é uma garota incrível, sua potente voz e essa música maravilhosa é muito encantadora!

    Roberto - São Paulo, Brasil

  • One of the Best Apollo performances EVER!!!!!!!

Go Lisa, Go Lisa, Go Lisa!!!

I was in my girl friends dorm room watching this...........lol.

  • all i hear these days are castrated swine,

  • Me gusta tu sonrisa

  • Teena marie you have competition

  • Lady T comes first but Lisa is a VERY close second. I love both of them!!!

  • I agree!

  • Lisa's the only white girl since Teena that can be called a real soul 'white' singer. There could be others that I don't know about, if that is the case please educate me.

  • @ericmtl umm amywinehouse hello. RIP!! She helped to bring back to the UK because when she came out it had been years since a white soul singer had been popular. And she not only sang soul music she was alos a great jazz singer too.

  • lol I get to hear all the drag queens in Atlanta sing this.

  • I remember seeing this back in the day. I loved it then & I love it more now. It's cool how we can find things here on You Tube that might otherwise be lost for good to us. Lisa had the Apollo JUMPIN' from the minute she stepped out. This woman definitely has soul & is feeding off the crowd. @ 3:29-3:37 she is FEELIN' IT!

"GO LISA, GO LISA, GO LISA!!" (lol) Got to give it to Brits, they are the only white people who truly got soul. Lisa got it. Everyone else has music studio engineered soul.

  • joss stone ain't got shit on Lisa Stansfied

she is the real soul sista of Britain

  • Amen delirious8, Amen! Not even Crustina Gorilla got shit on Lisa! I watch this vid at least once a week. I can't get enough!

  • thanks for agreeing

  • I LOVE THIS!!!!!!

  • a real jam....WOOoooow.. awesome!

    Go Lisa! :)

  • I miss the days when a song would come on - you'd get goose pimples and your a** moved. Music doesn't have this effect on people any more.

  • THEY WAS FEELING THIS SONG

  • This white woman has got skills!!!!!

  • She got mad skills. Love her!

  • I remember this performance! They said she was so nervous but she killed it!

  • I can honestly say that Apollo performance is one of the best ever to originate from there!

The Apollo is the toughest crowd in the world and she just murdered it!!

  • It's wonderful to see the crowd so jubilant. I love the apollo audience...they're so real.

  • beautiful song.

  • yes it is ;)...it's amazing ..a white artist singin in the temple fo black music.."the Apollo Theatre" and wow..to see how the black audience were literally possessed by this beautiful song and dancing all the time... this means she's a soul sista! ;)

  • Amen to that sista!

  • Wow I remember watching this. Good times.

  • i don't know where she got her soul but lisa is definately a soul sister.

  • I love her music i still play her songs.

  • She was feeding them and they were feeding her. Fabulous!

  • This performance was ranked as one of the most favorite among fans at the apollo. I remember watching the show where they showed the top performances and Lisa was in it. Gotta respect the talent. Damn that song is sick.

  • I love this song! In fact this whole album is so good! She can sing!

  • "Go Lisa! Go Lisa! Go Lisa!"---the crowd was lovin'her! And with good reason; the girl can sing her ass off!

  • The crowd is feeling this! And the apollo is a scary place, even for artist, because contrary to what you see, the audience does boo famous artist. I know cause I've been there. Kudos to Lisa!

  • one of my favorite songs! I love that she's hella gettin into it cuz she's at the apollo! ;)

  • this song is superb;; she remind me of tina marie;her voice is everlating;;tina marie voice is everlating;; tina marie has been and inspiration;;2 thumbs up for Been Around The World

    -Ronnie B And Son

  • Tina Marie can't sing! You can't compare her to Tina Marie

  • I have to agree with you about Teena Marie, what a voice!!! One of the innovators in R & B. Her music was unique and way ahead of her time. Lisa is another example of White Soul and her music is just fantastic. (do not agree with the comment that Lady T can't sing - that's something I have never heard said before - nuts).

  • this song is still goin hard! Man..

  • definitivamente la reina del soul blanco
