Sometimes its just the climate that the plants are in or the plants genetics that make it have purple leaves or buds. Buds can also have a blue color to them as well.

Puple Urkel, Grape Ape, Purple Kush, Grandaddy Purp, just plain old Purp, and tons of others. Sometimes buds will have purple leaves on them and not even be any kind of purp. Its just the plants genetics and the climate its grown in.
