Recognizing the need for military action against hostile threats to our nation and its citizens, and taking the necessary action to defend them is not hypocrisy, nor is it unconstitutional. War has been declared on US. The Executive has the power to direct the national defense without Congress declaring war. The Democrat-controlled Congress could cut off funding of the President's decision if it really believed it's own anti-war hype and propaganda.
@VailPatriot How was Iraq a threat? Not only did they not have assembled weapons of mass destruction, it would have been decades before they could have even hoped to use them. How is the war in Afghanistan helping us? We went, we saw, and the only thing to come out of it was to createmore enemies. Osama is not there, nor will he be there as long as we are. To say that the POTUS is directing national security by invading other countries is bullshit, it is a war. Trust me I was there.
What a heaping steaming load of Libertarian crap. Like the liberal idiots who decried "blood for oil," the author of this video doesn't know the meaning of "Empire."
National Defense is NOT a "euphemism" but a Constitutional obligation. Stopping threats abroad is FAR better than waiting for them to come here - AGAIN.
Like many Tea Partiers, I like much of the Libertarian message, but as long as they continue spewing this sort of nonsense the Libertarian Party will remain marginalized.
Actually, the Constitution authorizes Congress to declare war, which it didn't do. Instead, it delegated responsibility to the President.
Constitution also grants Congress authority to issue letters of marque and reprisal. Ron Paul introduced the Marque and Reprisal Act of 2001, making him the only C-man who actually followed constitutional procedure.
As for "better than waiting for them to come here - AGAIN," there seems to be plenty of dispute as to who "them" really are.
@VailPatriot Nobody is able to take our freedom from outside. Our largest threat is from within. Our own abortionclinics murder more babies than any enemy ever could. We are the evil invaders of other nations and need to stop.
Conservative Tea Party-ers can't have it both ways. If you want smaller government and reduce spending you have to go after the largest part of the budget and that is defense spending. We don't need to be fighting two wars against dirt farmers and cave dwellers that have no real army, navy and air force that is no threat to this country. Time to bring our Troops back home to their famlies
Listen Tea Party folks, you cannot demand smaller government and more freedom on one hand while also supporting an ever growing "defense" budget and propagated wars against "terrorists".
Draw a line and choose a side, the time of reckoning is at hand!
I agree. You can't protest higher taxes or no new taxes and smaller government domestically while supporting war and big government over seas.
How else will the government pay for the wars and policing the world? Bake sales, girl scout cookies!??? No, higher taxes of course. Higher taxes are inevitable with this out of control spending. And I even say, austerity measures, and the greatest depression ever, is coming.
The tea party movement is a joke. These folks are happy to rail against the growth of government, unless that growing government is necessary to occupy Iraq and Afghanistan, provide Medicare and Social Security, discriminate against gays, and deport any and all of our hispanic brothers and sisters who crossed the border in hopes of bringing a good life to their families.
I cant help but wonder what the world would be like if the United States had done absolutely nothing from 1900 til now. If we didnt get into either world war or vietnam, korea, desert storm etc... Would we be worse off, or better off. "The easiest way for Evil to succeed if for Good Men to do nothing" where do you draw the line between that and imperialism
Tea Party = Controlled opposition. It's a fake group set up by government shill Republicans. I'm sure the original small Tea Parties were legit, but they have been hijacked since April 2009. That's what happens when you let war mongers like Sarah Failin become the image of your party.

Your criticizing Scott because he is black. You have to Vote for Black people because their great great grandparents were slaves who were allowed to keep their penises.
Really, its hard to support anybody for a Government I do not support at all. I no longer believe anyone can turn this Government around. I just have to hope it fails before I do.
i think im getting sick of playing this partisan game. the biggest problem with our govt is we have 500 kings, which isn't much better than just one.
these men need to allocate tax funds among the federal depts in a fair manner. the spending must be limited to income - debt spending by govt is truly insane. if these men can't keep spending within these limits, it's a glaring sign of incompetence. yet we also allow these men to make laws.
Aggressive war is the health of the state. The state grows by war & citizens are enslaved & taxed beyond measure. This is the lesson Rome taught 1500 years ago: over extended, overreaching empire is doomed to collapse; a lesson the Hannitys, the Palins, the Cheneys, & yes, the Glenn Becks miss altogether & the thing Ron Paul gets. The imperial aggression since 1861 is anathema to a free & prosperous people & contrary to our Founding ideals. Say no to empire. Otherwise sink deeper into slavery.
Jack, I saw Rand Paul on the Unpatriotic Sean Hannity show. Not sure what Rand was doing, but Rand is playing a dangerous game associating with the enemy.
True Ocyris but Rand Paul was given the nomination by his loyal followers not by making an appearance at the Ed Show. The closest reason I like to think he did a TV appearance was because of damage control from his appearance on Rachel Maddow.
I'm a TEA Party attendee, and you are right about the hypocrisy of most TEA Party activists when it comes to war.
But the BIG area of TEA Party hypocrisy is not really the war. It's entitlement spending, including programs that most TEA Party folks support, like social security and medicare.
Try holding a sign up at a TEA Party event that says "Privatize Social Security" or "End Medicare" and see what happens.
@freesk8 Entitlement becomes dependancy and THAT is why progressive social-fascists fight so hard for gov't programs. It's going to take a LOT of re-education to remind people that big gov't is tyranny and that liberty-independance is personal. It takes courage for a child to let go of their parents hand and walk before they can run FREE. Bullies are cowards after all...
@freesk8 Well for the older folks 45 and above or so they figure they've paid into it most of their adult lives so it should be there for them when they retire. Of course this logic is flawed because it's a never ending cycle as when many fo the 20somethings become 40somethings they'll feel the same way. I realize that privatizing Social Security isn't going to happen over night but if we can get incremental privatization then it's a step in the right direction.
The cuts need to be in all areas of government. No sacred cows. This meens NO SACRED cow tea party people. Even your favorite program and/or war must stop or come to an end, permanently.
While it's true that defense spending is a bit high, that's not the immediate reason for our boated govt. The Harry Ried Nancy Pelosi "Homeland Security", unfortunately singed by Bush, increased the size of govt by leaps & bounds. And if you'll recall, the reason for this bloat was the fact that the FBI & CIA wouldn't talk to each other.
If we don't start doing a better job of taking care of our men and women in the milotarty that have volunteered to lay down their life for us, we will not need so many overseas bases as there will no longer be any new members signing up to serve in the military.
Is this accurate? Don't get me wrong, I say bring every soldier back home to the US and return to non-interventionist policies, I just thought the military spending was small compared to the entitlements.
@Buffalo122333 Military spending in this country is ridiculous in the truest sense of the world. We spend more on our military than the rest of the world spends on all their militaries combined. It matches all the spending for entitlements in this country.
They do. However, military and defense spending is a close second, with the exception of the enormous at least $50 Trillion in unfunded liabilities in the future.
@Buffalo122333 Check out HR5353. If we didn't pay the extra war spending on top of the all the other war spending, that money could make the first 35K tax free for every American.

How much will a wall from the Gulf of Mexico to San Diego cost?
And will a nation that casually hires illegals to avoid the taxes and overhead of a legal business be willing to pay for that wall?
But no worries. The invisible hand of capitalism will jack us off until the bitter end.
