some of these so-called symptoms of schizophrenia can easily be mixed up with psychic activity, hauntings, shamanism, spiritism, religious devotion etc. Heck even a good imagination is now considered psychotic anymore
in the actual book. alice ate some mushrooms and thats why she saw all this. (haha. fun)
AAAANNNNYYY WAYY!
not all schizophrenics are this bad.
ive been doing lots of reasearch on this, so trust me.
most of them can get along fine in society with medication, and or therapy.
my aunt for instance, has schizophrenia, and she has a job, and has a daughter (she is a single mother, and a wonderful one at that) and her own apartment, and a pet. and she gets along just fine.
Depends on the type and severity of schizophrenia. i've been working in the field of mental health a couple years, and no two schizophrenics are alike.
also: Alice never eats mushrooms in the book. Read it.
besides i posted this like, half a year ago, when i was under the impression i knew everything about schizophrenia. and in what i read, she ate mushrooms. i don't know which book you read, but it obviously wasn't the same one
@emobeccaahha Thanks for sticking up for us! It just goes to show that not all of us Schizophrenics are people with lowly jobs and such! I'm a good example.. I go to college, I am studying to become a teacher... I have a great family... Everything seems really well right now!
@emobeccaahha Some, but very very few, schizophrenic can even cope through therapy with little or no medication. There are cases where their prescription's side-effects are much worse than their disorder.

To say someone has schizophrenia can act as defamation of character, especially if the person recovered and had the diagnosis downgraded to manic depression, PTSD or depression.
Although the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh today fetch millions, if word circulate that he was "a schizophrenic" we would see his paintings drop in value tremendously.
The government should really disallow the use of the schizophrenia diagnosis.

Lewis Carrol was a complete drug addict when he wrote this like JR Tolkein who wrote lord of the rings was a an opiate fiend hence why their stories are so abstract and weird. Maybe LEwis Carrol had drug induced psychosis and schizophrenia himself.
Everything abnormal, or otherwise "strange" or eccentric, is a disorder. Anyone who does not do things the way we think they should, is dysfunctional. They cannot function in the way that society wants them to, and therefore must be...cured, or otherwise drugged. Really the only symptom that is important to psychiatry, and to the diagnosis of illness is success. Yes, there are genuine cases of disorder, and yes there is a need to diagnose this, but psychiatry has been a dismal failure at this.
wow i bet thats what its like

i think the subliminal meassage in alice in wonder land was
"this will happen if you do shrooms"
kenhasu 3 years ago 6
Walt disney is very famous for giving out subliminal messages, but i never knew scizophrenia was one of them.
Think about it "Alice in Wonder Land"? Whenever i have a scizo trip i feel like that inviorment that she was in. Im in my own wonder land.
IDrinkAl0ne 3 years ago
this isn't a "subliminal message" it's just a good example of someone people can relate to who exhibits signs of schizophrenia.
