Our known universe has billions of stars with billions of planets, some of them are in a better position for life. Our earth is one of them. The earth does not need either oxygen nor nitrogen to protect itself. The earth is just a planet and would be as happy or miserable without an athmosphere. It has no feelings

My point exactly, didnt you read what i said? it is implassable to prove or dissprove a deistic god (creater) but one can argue quite strongly againts the notion of a theistic god (listens to your prayers, cares what you do etc.). For them it is not about learning to think critically, it's about avoiding doubt even when all critical analysis is contrary.
On a more conjectural psychological note: I think many people fear the complexities of the world and think themselves stupid internally (aka, low self-confidence, etc). They feel they must rely on instinct, emotion, determination, and other 'simpleton' traits to get through the day. The bible is good for rewarding that. If they didn't have the bible they would instead focus their self-perceived skills in other areas: exercising blind loyalty to an emperor or regime, for example.

On a more conjectural psychological note: I think many people fear the complexities of the world and think themselves stupid internally (aka, low self-confidence, etc). They feel they must rely on instinct, emotion, determination, and other 'simpleton' traits to get through the day. The bible is good for rewarding that. If they didn't have the bible they would instead focus their self-perceived skills in other areas: exercising blind loyalty to an emperor or regime, for example.

@savana906 I was raised as a fundamentalist Christian, I did love & accept Jesus as my lord and saviour & I believe the Bible WAS Gods word, then received an education and realised that a vast majority of what is written in the Bible is wrong so it cant have been inspired by an omnipotent omniscient being thus it is manmade and not worth my time. Its amazing what happens when someone objectively views the Bible as a whole (Old & New Test), it more often than not makes them an atheist.

We need more videos like this, that calmly and politely address what we know for certain versus what we feel or wish. I think you do a great job of not devaluing emotion-- it is a part of us, and an important part. But it doesn't do to get carried away by it.
