Wow, he passed away way too young. Working in the biz, you meet a lot of on-air people with a lot of tude. Somehow, I don't think Ron was like that at all. Just seemed to be like somebody you'd wanna hang out with. Very rare in the radio biz... but truly welcomed.
Respect and Love...Regret that I just now learned of his passing....Big Ron- You were loved by many and your talents envied by more (including myself.)..enjoy the afterlife my friend...You were a hit in this life ... and will be a classic in the next...
i can just picture big ron up there with doctor don rose. ha! lovin it i guess. man, if he was still alive, i think i'd work with him! r.i.p, big ron!
great d.j thats for sure by the way what is the name of the song hes talking over after the commodores song on 102.9 the beach and who sings it. killer song.
I remember listening to Ron in 1973 in Evanston when he was on Super CFL in Chicago. When I was in High School in 1977 in Utah I use to sit in my car and make air Checks of Ron when he was on 64 KFI in Los Angeles. In 1983 my senior year in college I did an internship at KIIS FM and had the pleasure to work and get to know Ron O'Brien.
I am sad to hear that he is no longer with us...you will not find a nicer man! Ron would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. RIP BigRon.
Shotgun Thank You for making this video. I know several jocks that have come into and subsuquently gone out of my life in this way and I wish I had a video preservation of them as you do here with your friend Ron.
Thanks Tom! What a great jock. Just think about the line-up at that big station in the sky. Robert W, Real Don Steele, Jackson Armstrong and Big Ron just to name a few! Wow
Big Ron O'Brien was one of the Boss radio greats. Thanks for the memories B.R.O.B.

What a great voice & talent.
Did he have any significant health problems (other than obesity?)...Was he ever married?

And I though Ron was mostly a Philly area DJ!

He sounds so much like the Big Ron O'Brien that worked at 95.1 WXIL in Parkersburg WV in the late 70's early 80's.

Nice tribute. This only represents a small portion of Ron's radio career. He truly was a guy who loved radio.
