they seemed to communicate well to him though, which is always a good thing

Actually, it looks scarier than what it is. There was really no pain at all. The doctor's office was kind enough to provide us with a photo packet to prepare our son for the study. We made a big deal and told our little guy that he was going to look like Wall-E or E.T., and that it was going to be cool to stay at the hospital overnight.
