  • "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;

For he to-day that sheds his blood with me

Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,"

  • lilo brancato gives one of the most powerfully understated speeches of all time. One cannot compare this version to Branagh's or Olivier's without doing injustice to the subtext and median involved. Where Branagh and Olivier sought to approximate a submersion into the late 16th century Renaissance, Brancato used a monotone to inspire. Note his use of eye motion behind his glasses and his Brooklyn accent as he rallied his comrades in much the same way as did Branagh.

  • @martinasiner Hilarious!!!

  • why doesn't Branagh do it this well? randomly changing your rhythm and talking in a goofy voice makes his inferior.

  • Why is that crack head not at attention?

  • with no doubt a good one, but Branagh's one in Henry V it's still the best.

  • Possibly the best preformance of this speech

  • @thejohnmithredux I totally agree with you. It is the only one that feels real. (besides a good reading of it of course). Branagh, are you kidding me? He is a total puss. This was a batlle cry speech that emboldened battle hardened men to face impossible odds! Branagh's interpretation of it couldn't motivate a teenage boy to mow the lawn.

  • @matthound 'Branagh's interpretation of it couldn't motivate a teenage boy to mow the lawn.' Whaaat? you're kidding right? This was ok and was refreshingly different, but Branagh's version makes me want to jump up and kill Frenchmen or anyone else for that matter.

  • i.love.this.

  • I love the St. Crispins Day Speech but I'd like to know why the idiot who uploaded this titled it Band of Brothers when this is from Renaissance Man

  • @norcaldj Because YouTube might delete it if it's from Renaissance Man.

  • @norcaldj Because 'band of brothers' is in the speech."We Few,we happy few,we band of brothers" Therefore, the title has nothing to do with the BOB miniseries.

  • @norcaldj hahaha are you stupid or something?

  • @hairhairhair1234 no but apparently you are for even taking the time to bother submitting a reply douche bag

  • @hairhairhair1234 No but apparently you are

  • @norcaldj that's the name of the speech LOL! are you joking around or are you actually that dumb.

  • @hairhairhair1234 No but apparently you are

  • this is not band of brothers this is Renaissance Man

  • such an underrated movie...this should've gone up for an academy award...

  • The brotherhood of war....timeless truth.

  • Thats why, I love Shakespeare!!!

  • people need to realize how much of a person shakespeare was. 400 years ago. a time that had almost nothing. is where true art is formed

  • imagine how old this speech is and how it is still able to move people nowadays..

    that is true art

  • i miss my best friends!! my Band of Brothers!!

  • I love this damn scene. Not just from this movie, but from any movie, it's ranking high on my list, and he's just reciting something from another work of art. It's the damn inflection of what it meant at this moment in the movie did it mean so much!!!! Hardcore. Devito rocks!!!!!

  • My favorite scene form one of my favorite movie.

  • Comment removed

  • For Nation's Flag Blue and White ... we Band of Brothers.

  • I made the same video basically, never found this one when I looked:

Amazing speech from an amazing movie!

  • A great scene from a really underated movie.

This was filmed at Ft. Jackson SC which is where I did basic training.

  • I am doing that Monologue for my audition of an all women production of Julius Caesar. I feel I can relate to it because of my civil air patrol squad and my paint ball team.

  • Amazing that the best version of this speech on film, is actually not from a Henry V film.

  • Awesome scene... I love this movie!

  • came in one evening to find my 40something husband and 20something son drinking brandy, smoking cigars, watching Renaissance Man.... and crying.

  • Shivveeeerrrss

  • HENRY V THE MAN

  • love this scene

  • loved it

  • i fucking cried!!

  • Band Of Brothers...

    That part always hits me...

The Comarade of the Soldiers of this world is why I respect the Armed Forces of every nation...

While our politics may stand divided, our defenders will never lose sight of the goal......

Support the Troops, for whatever country you live in, because they support you every day

  • And the drill sergeant who thought there was no place for art in the heart of a soldier learns that maybe there is a place for it after all...

  • Best Speech I've Heard In A Long Time

  • most epic speech ever

  • Sad that this actor is in jail for the rest of his life. He clearly has an abundance of raw talent and emotional interpretation.

Why did he have to break in to a home and kill an off duty cop ?

  • He's not in jail for the rest of his life, he only got ten years. He was found not guilty of 2nd degree murder, but guilty to attempted burglary.

  • So thats why i never heard from him again... I always thought he was good... Good enough to be seen in another film...

    Damn, its a real pity...

And a real good question... Why break in and kill a cop???

    Dubble damn....

  • @Ligezus he shot the off duty cop but he did'nt shoot the deputy, lol XD

  • I just got MAJOR goosebumps listening to this...

  • what movie is this?

  • @frenchstudentA

    This is Renaissance Man.

    ........VAGE SPOILERS.....

Basicly a man (played by Danny DeVito) looses his job and the one that he's giving is to teach comprehinchin (sp) to 8 "squeakers" kid's who can't hack it for one reason or another in basic training. What he ends up doing is teaching them Hamlet

  • I dont like this movie as a whole but love this speech always sends shivers up my spine

  • "Is that enough Drillsergeant?"

    "Yes Benitez, good"....

OMG, he delivers an amazing recitation of Shakespeare, and Gregory Hines is just gobsmacked...

    Love the movie :o))

  • i love how every one is standing with their jaws like :O

  • the speech is one of the greatest speechs ever wrote my platoon leader quote this before goin out on every mission in iraq ud be suprised wat impact it haves when in a place like that when u hear shots in the distance

  • @PROCTOR1135 totally agree, I get so rapped up when I deliver this speech I get so much adrenalin running threw me, that I need to take a walk, and when I have a crowd around me that's involved, I have to run a mile. I LOOOOOOVE this speech

  • @PROCTOR1135 Thank you for serving. Do you have any video or audio? Poignant!

  • renaissance man, not band of brothers :P

  • "band of brothers" because its Crispian's Day and it says . "...We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;..."

  • Man i kinda like this movie I mean its ok

But this scene is one of the greatests ones ive seen.

I love the speech, the way he says it and especially i love the music on the background because it gives this scene a reallly good tone even though its not very loud

  • So unbelievably awesome. Great scene from a surprisingly great movie.

  • Man, I've been looking for this FOREVER thanks for putting it up so much!

  • me too.. great!!

  • favoirite part

  • omg this is my favorite version of Henry V's St. Crispin's Day speech!!!

  • ENGLAND

  • Double D, salute! There are very few movies with Danny Devito that I don't enjoy, but this is one for the underdog in all of us.

If you see this in the 5 dollar bin then buy two and give a copy to the next person you meet. Great cast, great movie - just a whole lot of wonderful moments from a true hidden gem.

From one rogers to another, great work.

  • I couldn't agree with you more!!!

  • that was to kegorogers comments

  • all the town names where so wrong

  • It's title is Renaissance Man

  • what is the title of this movie?

  • Renaissance Man best movie ever

  • I remember a moto.

  • "Victory Starts Here" was Fort McClane's motto

  • He says the lines so well! By far the best part of the movie. Thanks for sharing!

  • What an amazing scene. I was just thinking about this scene and so I had to come look it up. I memorized the lines to this speech the first time I saw this movie, and I recite them to myself all the time. It's one of those feel good moments! I love this scene.

  • AIRBORNE

  • hooah!

  • ARMY RAAAANNGERS C-130 rollin' down the strip 64 Rangers on a one-way trip Mission Top Secret, destination unknown They don't know if they're ever coming home When my plane gets up so high Airborne troopers gonna dance in the sky Stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door Jump right out and count to four If my main don't open wide I got a reserve by my side If that one should fail me too Look out ground, I'm a-coming through
