@kjlg74 I think this would be cool in 2D (I know it sounds like a step back) but it would be good for some kind of platformer with creatures evolving over time for there environment. Mostly because you could make the world considerably bigger.
@Bloodmage1337 It could be interesting in 2D, I agree. I know of a nice 2D physics engine (called "Chipmunk") that's not too hard to use. Maybe one day I'll try making a 2D version just to see how it goes.
I wish I would have sent you a copy of this creature... or if I did... I wish you'd have kept it to post it on your site... since I lost all of the creatures I evolved a while ago, and just recently started getting the stuff back onto my comp :|
This is seriously one of my favorite, though I'm likely biased XD
@TheReasonWhyGuy I might still have the file for this guy kicking around somewhere on my hard drive. I'll leave myself a note to go looking for it sometime.
I think 90% of why I like this creature is, that it starts laying on it's back, and has to roll over before it can do anything :).
Also something about this creature I'm not sure if I've ever told you is... that I pick by hand it's first generation form, not by some idea of what looks cool, but simply by which one looked like it would have the hardest time finding a way to walk...
Anyway, I hope you find it, and thanks for even trying :)
You need to modify some settings in the constants.txt file before loading the program. I can explain in a PM if you like. It's really only useful for recording video because with multiple creatures, like in some of my videos, the frame rate drops to a painful slide-show-like speed. It looks fine on youtube only because I process the final result back up to speed (it's actually a sequence of snapshot images that I convert to a 30-frame-per-sec video).
you should evolve a creature adapted to rock climb- there would be a 90˚ wall (maybe less if its too hard) and you would have to hook on to little boxes that stick out. I think that would be interesting.
The painting is easy. The F1 key lets you paint, and the CTRL-C and CTRL-V let you copy and paste textures from one object to another. Just swap in some image files to replace some from the data/textures folder (like checkers.jpg for example).
Getting multiple creatures at once requires a special version of the executable. I can give you that if you like, just email me ;)
having troble figuring out program, can you make viral toturials on how to use the whole program, ccuz i cant figure it out just by reading it

@kjlg74 The reason I ask is..
that I lost the original, AND one that had 2000+extra generations under it's belt, and looked much more complicated...

@TheReasonWhyGuy That's a shame :(
I hope I can find it.

I've often thought of something like that. It could start at 10 degrees or so, and have the angle increase as the population adapts.

He's more of a bouncer than a walker, isn't he?

Well that was the only name that came to his mind.

"Nice one! That little "gorilla-walker" thing (for lack of a better name)"
Thats were the name came from.

Also the earlier forms looked more like it was walking.

Side not, I love your bogosity series! :D
Keep up the excellent work.

Like TheReasonWhyGuy said, the earlier version (on his channel) looked more like a walker than a jumper.
