  • Moleskeen? I always pronounce it Molesky-ne

  • I like it! It's so organised and well thought of.

  • Spare euro's , lol...! Over priced..!

  • Isnt this like making a sock to protect your sock? why on earth do you need a folder to put your moleskin in?

  • For the record, I don't think $50 is too much. I think some people here are being a little short sighted. You invest in one of these so that you don't have to buy another $20 journal halfway through your first one because it's become ratty and unusable. I think your product fits a niche market quite nicely. Well done.

  • This could come in handy when I attend conferences. A nice place to take notes, tuck my money and business cards away, and the hotel key to boot. Then there's no need to lug a purse. It is pricey, but some posters are correct, if you think about all the random disposable items we buy from box stores, it adds up. These are made per order AND made in the US! So your money supports a US company, rather than the globalization machine. But...yeah if you're money's tight, that's what gifts are for!

  • ugly!

  • Rickshaw + Moleskine = :-)

  • ...and if you want one color choice and cheaply made products, shop at Walmart. People waste more money on more things that quickly and easily add up to $50

If you want junk, pay junk prices - if you want quality...well, that's gonna be a little bit more.

  • Seems like a well thought-out item to me. Why do people whine about the price so much for something they're likely to buy one of in a lifetime? It looks like it would last twenty five years if you took good care of it. I like to think of that being only $2 per year of use...or a little over half a penny per day.

  • Moleskine is a storic notebook and it's fame is also due to its black cover and I don't want to hide it. I have a case for my pens and a purse for my money and moleskine has a proper pocket for businnes cards, paper, etc... I think this is a useless surplus but I appreciate and I respect you efforts, I hope you'll succeed in having a good success with this idea!

(but not here in italy, 50$ are too much!!)

  • It's beautiful but like so many other a) retired, b) disabled, c) cautious Americans right now, I am going to just have to covet this little beauty. Perhaps Santa will see this post....

  • what a waste, it was better to go and buy a little bag from longchamp and save there my moleskine...

  • I can't see why I would make my smart looking moleskine look like an old day runner.

  • $50?

That's utter madness, those sorts of things are available for under £5 here, I'm sure many don't have the odd flap in the middle, but that could easily be resolved by using any sort of fabric cut off being placed there. And then it's easy to remove when other uses are wanted. Utter madness.

  • These are excellent products Mark, I am going to bookmark your site, I need to order school supplies for college next month, and this is perfect since I always write in a moleskine, thank you for developing these neat products! :)

  • its a neat concept but i like my notebook to be naked

  • 'Some spare dollars' he says as he whips out about 50 euros...

  • @EvelineUK oh yeah you know i bet they were just sitting around huh.

  • sweet!

  • I fail to see why this product is necessary. The moleskine has its own pocket for business cards, newspaper clippings and photos. It also has a protective hardback cover to protect its contents. I have a wallet for my money and a pocket for my passport. I guess pen storage is useful. But theres only 4 slots! youcan fit 4 pens in your pocket or handbag anyway! What does this product offer that I really need?

  • I hate to say it but isnt the point of the moleskine that it has its pocket and protective hard covers so as a piece it is kind of independant and doesnt really need its own folio? As for storage of pens, I'm sure 4 pens could fit easily into anyones pocket or handbag? and as for storage of scrappings and business cards - theres the back pocket in the moleskine designed SPECIFICALLY for this. I fail to see any real benefits of purchasing your product.

  • Ay yi yi.... 50 bucks to hold an $18 notebook...

  • well it's for people that go through many moleskins .... so 50 bucks is worth it

  • it's also probably for travelling artists.

  • Ay yi yi... 50 bucks to hold an $18 notebook.

  • Those look awesome! Were can I get one?

  • That's all well and good, but it seems utterly pointless. The Moleskine has a cover - why would you need another one?

  • GULP. Just looked it up on the rickshaw website. I like it, but $50 is just a little steep for something like this.

  • well u use it over and over and over and over... most quality art bags cost a pretty penny ?

  • That's pretty cool.

I'd probably get one of those if I carried a bigger Moleskine.

(I use the small ones because they fit in my inside jacket pocket.)

  • ehhhh meh

  • wow this is amazing. where is this available

  • This one better, love clear pocket in back. Extra flap to protect moleskine from pen dings, great. Especially love the prettier fabrics. How much are you going to charge for this handy little thingie? (everyone mispronounces "moleskine" so much that the mispronunication has almost become accepted and people who say it correctly get a cross-eyed look. such is life.)

  • Is easy to know the correct way to pronounce it... Go to their web site and read about them...

    Mol AH Skeen ah

    Mole skins are pants.

  • Great idea! Love the stuff you have.

Do you know you are pronoucing Moleskine wrong?

It is pronounced Mol AH Skeen Ah

  • I`ve heard it pronounced 4 different ways now! XD

    Mole SKIN

    Mole SKY N

    Mole SKINNY

    Mole SKEEN...

  • ugh, this guy's pronunciation of "moleskeen" is so fucking annoying

  • Ok, I want one. This is the most utterly amazing thing ever. Even at 50 dollars, which is...ummm...about 35 pounds sterling. I'll buy one. :)

  • This is an amazing idea! I really want one :D

  • That is awesome! More gear for the scrivers... :-)

  • This would be great in leather... yay!

  • a little Pricey? I'd say it's a lot pricey. For a country undergoing a lot of economic stresses, 50 USD seems just unreasonable. I'll definitely not be getting one of these. Hope it works out for you though.

  • I hear you, but please understand, the price of this product is derived from the cost, which is time and materials -- not what I think people are willing to pay. And it's completely independent of macroeconomics. We'll make a few, sell them to people who think it's worth it, and see what kind of feedback we get. -Mark

  • @mmdwight The price would be reasonable if they were made from leather and if the outside design was better.

  • If you're interested, you can see the first 15 custom journals (as we make them) on our Flickr photostream. Happy New Year! -Mark

  • @Pourdevadean you have to realize their so expensive because 1st off theres no a lot of them and second off they aren't a large business...

  • @Pourdevadean the product looks great, i think it's worth it!

  • Thanks for your comments. We've added a lot of features to this product, so the retail price is likely to be 50 USD. I realize that's a little pricey for some, but I didn't want to make any compromises on the first version. I'll keep you posted on availability. Stay tuned... -Mark

  • AWESOME! I WANT IT! :D It fits the pens perfectly!!! Yayyyyyy!!!!! I want your bags too x,x so awesome! Can't wait to buy one!

  • greetings from germany....

I saw this and I think it's awesome...

I hope it's released soon because I carry a mole for my studies all the time... hopefully it'll be reasonably priced...

    I'd import it right away!

  • I wonder how much these are.

It looks nice enough that its probably prohibitively expensive, and that would be a shame. I'd pay twenty bucks, not a penny more.

I'm sure the Apple crowd would be happy to pay more though. They've already been brainwashed into thinking over paying for something is acceptable.
